Why did I even open this book? Why? Why? Why?

In my review for for book one of this series, ironically enough, I defended the realism within the pages against several reviews I'd read saying that the level of abuse was too much and the character reactions not authentic. I stand by that review. But...

Here I am in book two, and can you possibly guess why I am about to rip my hair out?!?

I'll Give You 10 Seconds To Explain This Shit

TEN YEARS ?!?!? Ten mfing years?!

By 16%, we know this of the MC's history:

• MCs were childhood sweethearts for years and had been waiting to have sex until her 18th bday.

• He was and still is her brother's BFF.

• On said BDAY he sleeps with another woman.

• He thought it was the FMC and tells us (the reader) that there's so much the FMC doesn't know about that night.

• They continue to live in same town, attend the same family functions, see each other at her workplace... Where she is venomous to him or just ignores him.

• She never gave him a chance to explain.

Now, here we are in present day TEN FUCKING YEARS LATER & suddenly he has decided she must hear him out about the events from her bday.

I'm willing to give this a chance to be some conspiracy, blackmail shit where he couldn't tell her for TEN FUCKING YEARS.

Not the case.

Nope. No reason at all. It's just.. 'oh hell I love her and she's dammed gonna listen to me TEN YEARS AFTER THE FACT! because I'm tired of her refusing to hear me out.'

description

Unbelievable Time Lapses Are A Theme

The FMC's mom has been hiding a two year romantic relationship from her kids. Why? Oh, just because it's been bad timing for two years.

The drunken guy the FMC gave her virginity to TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO in this small town & has since become a hooligan regular at her bar.... well, he has never said a single word to her for TEN FUCKING YEARS about taking her virginity TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO . She doesn't even know if he remembers doing it.

Now, TEN FUCKING YEARS LATER , he just randomly brings it up as he is creeping around at night trying to frighten her.

description

I Need Comfort Food To Continue.. ..

description

SPOILER SECTION {if you don't want to know what happened on the infamous bday night TEN FUCKING YEARS AGO skip this section! }

• A chick drugs and rapes you.

•She gets pregnant.

•You do not tell your girlfriend this happens.

• Instead, you marry pregnant date-rape chick.

• You stay married to this btart FOR SIX FUCKING YEARS and share a bed with her BUT you NEVER HAVE SEX WITH HER in those SIX FUCKING YEARS?

Someone owes me 16.99 for that ravioli! Js~

The Kid

SPOILER SECTION {don't read this either if you don't want spoilers.}

Keeping in mind that...

• The MCs dated since she was 14 to his 16 and broke up at 18 after she walks in on him screwing someone else.

• He and her brother are BFF's and remain so TEN YEARS LATER.

• The three people involved never tell ANYONE why they broke up. She just goes about the next ten years seeing him, hating him, and ignoring him.

• Big Bro is one PROTECTIVE MFER.

• Male MC gets married and has baby IMMEDIATELY AFTER breakup... while the FMC becomes an angry hellcat that won't even tell her family why she broke up with the love of her life.

description

Now, given the above fucking facts of the story, no one, not even overprotective big bro, ever thinks .. ' hey he broke up with my sister & the next month some chick is pregnant and they are getting married ~ hum, mystery solved and BFF status is revoked right after I beat his ass.

Nope. I don't think there's even a suitable meme here~ ?~

Bitch

Ten years is a long time to be pissed at someone for what you thought they did. I get shit might not suddenly turn rainbows here. But, this FMC is one selfish bitch. As Unbelievable as the whole 10 year thing is, her reaction to the truth makes her utterly unlikable. She believes his story. She even appropriately calls it rape. Yet, she's still mad at him. She's still woe is me over what she lost vs what was taken from HIM, the VICTIM here. She's still blaming her decisions afterward on him. Instead of saying 'holy hell let's make up for time stolen from us,' she's still talking about how she can't get the image of seeing them together out of her head.

Yea, yea ... I get that the author is sending a message about male rape victims here and all. And, I'd bite on that hook, line, and sinker IF the FMC just didn't believe his story or use the word "rape" to describe this. She does though. So, the message is moot and it just makes the FMC an outright ass.

F'off at this point.

I'd rather share an ice cream cone with that craziness ^^ than read one more minute of this BS.

I tolerated the author oversharing details and giving me step-by-step-by-step on every move the characters made in book one BECAUSE the storyline was good and the characters compelling.

This shit here has the same drawbacks WITH NONE OF THE POSITIVES!

The entire premise of the book is 10 years worth of non-communication and head in the sand BS between people that fing see each other everyday in the same small town and who claim to still be the love of each other lives THE ENTIRE TEN FUCKING YEARS. No! Just no!

This book has made me pull the douchedipshit move of OVERCAPITALIZING and my swear jar could buy a FUCKING Coach purse at this point. So, I must leave this hell for the safety of keyboards and small passerby children everywhere!

I thought I would give this author another try. My mistake.

Just too much torture porn for me. There is drama and angst, then there is manufactured torture porn that defies the imagination and verges on annoying.

I'm not going to leave a rating as it doesn't seem fair.

I forced myself to finish this book. I was hoping this would be better than the first, but unfortunately there were so many reasons to dislike this book that I am not going to go into them all - I don’t have the energy.

There are a couple of things I want to mention though. The author needs to learn basic mathematics. The incident that broke Mac and Mia up and apparently created Trent was 10 years ago (this is referenced MANY times) and yet Trent is 11 years old. Hmmmm, I don’t know if things work differently in the USA, but where I come from babies are born roughly 9 months AFTER conception, which would make Trent 9 years old (10 at the most, depending on how many months after 10 years the story is set). Do the math, people.

Also, wow, the sexism is just SO rife in this book. Men must drive (even if it’s the woman’s car and they aren’t a couple) so they feel they are protecting the woman from other idiots on the road (presumably all these idiots are men, since they should be the only ones driving!)? WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! No, just no! The whole ‘men protecting the women’ line of crap is just bullshit. There are too many examples of sexism and misogyny in this book to comment on them all, but I felt a strong degree of violence towards the characters for having to read that crap (and the author for writing it) .

One of the things that made me the most angry was how Mac’s rape was handled. So Jaxon feels justified in beating the shit out of Mac for ‘hurting’ Mia by being raped while he was drugged - and Mac agrees with this? Seriously, fuck off. So many fucking double standards and bullshit. Let’s just keep blaming the victim whilst also trying make it all ok for Mia. Ugh!!!!!

And, while I’m on that, what sort of idiot decides that, although he was drugged and raped in a very premeditated, planned attack by a lunatic, she is someone you should marry simply because she is pregnant? And then, after sleeping in the same bed with her for SIX YEARS without having sex with her, he decides that, after they are divorced, that she is actually a pretty good mother and so should get primary custody of the child? How can someone who is psycho enough to plan to drug and rape someone and set it up so that her victim’s GIRLFRIEND walks in and sees, be a GOOD MOTHER????

Also, to let this all sit unexplained and festering for 10 years? SO unrealistic. It was just all so unrealistic. And is there any character in this series who hasn’t been raped? And the degree of violence and psychotic behaviour is ridiculous. Not realistic.

What’s also not realistic is that no-one else had any clue why they broke up, just that ‘something happened’. Maybe the fact that another woman turned up a month after Mac and Mia split under circumstances that neither will talk about, pregnant, and he promptly married her? Would that have given them a clue? I dunno, but it seems like most people in his town are a little dense.

Just one other little thing - the DNA test that was 99.9% accurate, was a ‘false positive’??? Um, SCIENCE, people!!! That isn’t possible - brothers can have shared markers, but 99.9%? Nope. Not even identical twins. It would have been more credible to say the two crazy people switched the DNA sample - that I could believe, but not that the DNA test was wrong.

And, finally, EDITING and proof reading!!! Sheesh, it was terrible. Wrong words used - some clearly because the author doesn’t understand the meaning of the word or doesn’t know the correct word to use, but many times because it just wasn’t edited properly.

I have so many more issues with this book, but I’m over it now. I forced myself to finish it and now I just want to forget I ever read it. I definitely will not be reading any further books from this author.

In book one, the animosity between Mac and Mia intrigued me, especially as both Bailey and Jaxon witnessed the longing looks they gave each other. Learning that they were in love in the past (and quite possibly in the present), I immediately added this book to my TBR list in order to learn more.

Finding out Mac and Mia's history and what tore them apart was heart wrenching. Finding out that they were apart for 10 years over a misunderstanding was heart breaking. Reading about them rediscovering one another and allowing their love to blossom was heart healing.

Tessa was a crazy witch. She got away with way too much and I'm a little suspicious of Mac's investigative skills because he couldn't figure this out and do something about it. Ten years bro. You can't tell me that not once in those 10 years this Tessa witch didn't act suspect. . The entire scenario, from start to finish wasn't realistic to me, however, I still enjoyed the book. The characters were endearing and sympathetic.

As in book one, there is a bit of suspense, a moderately slow build to the relationship, a somewhat predictable climax, and a sweet epilogue.

Enjoy! xo

I tried to like this, but in the end I just couldn't. I honestly only downloaded this for the angsty crazy ow shenanigans, but the story had me thinking they're all idiots. I mean 10 yrs... 10 yrs to get the truth out! AND they live in the same damn town and H is bff's with h's brother. Now major SPOILERS. Do not continue reading if you don't want to know. H Mac was drugged and raped by crazy ow. But of course the h Mia walks in on them assuming exactly what she's seeing. I won't get into the specifics of how it happened and who else was involved, but the H decides to keep the info that he got raped to protect Mia and let her continue to hate him. Until 10 yrs later he decides it's been too long and she needs to hear the truth. Please tell me I'm not the only one that thinks that's dumb. The kicker? Within those 10 yrs he's married to the ow for 6 🥴. BUT he never sleeps with her. Though he is faithful to her during their marriage. Also, son turns out to not be his 🥴. But I won't get into specifics. One last thing that annoyed me with this book was all the "extras" we had here. I mean we have the ball busting/ power to all women lead here ✔️ Gay best friend ✔️ rescued dog ✔️ rescued horse ✔️. I mean it was all here and I really feel the author was trying too hard with this and it just came off lame and forced.

My apologies for the harsh review. But I really thought this was going to have potential, but just unfortunately bombed

I did not read Book 1, just FYI. I wish I would have because while it's not too much (I could keep up) there's obvious references to characters and situations that happened in the first book that I didn't understand. This book should be labeled for sexual assault + miscommunication. Not romance.

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE S.A. TRIGGERS!! DON'T READ THE REVIEW IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE ABOUT BOOKS WITH GRAPE!

This book starts 10 years after break up.

Mac and Mia were childhood sweethearts. She was 14, he was 16 when they started dating. They were waiting to have sex until she turned 18, so he'd have been 20.

Mac is Mia's brothers best friend, still is to this day. He's also the Sheriff of their town.

On her 18th birthday, he fucks another woman losing his virginity to her instead of Mac/Mia taking each others. She walks in on them. She runs off and gives away her vCard. They obviously break up.
She TELLS NO ONE WHY THEY BROKE UP. He MARRIES THE OTHER WOMAN WITHIN WEEKS.

They continue to live in same town, attend the same functions, see each other at her work where he comes in at least twice a week, and their whole group of friends still hangs out. Somehow NO one knows what happened, including her UBER protective big brother who is literally the MMC's best friend.

So, even though his sister and best friend dated for 4 years, break up then he IMMEDIATELY MARRIES ANOTHER WOMAN WHO IS PREGNANT WITH HIS CHILD AND EVERYONE'S LIKE GEEEEEEE WHAT HAPPENED? DUUURRRRR.

Mia is a raving b-i-t-c-h to Mac while he continues to harass her, corner her, play with her mind and body MASSIVE BODY BETRAYAL SYNDROME IN THIS BOOK all while telling her "he needs to tell her what really happened that night".

He couldn't tell her in the last ten fucking years?! Even then it takes weeks and weeks to get to the freaking point.

Mia of course is a woman scorned who after losing the love of her life at only 18, has decided to NEVER be happy, NEVER move on, NEVER have kids or get married or have her dream life because of a single jerk she has to see everywhere she turns. She's a bitter shrew at only 28 years old. And I emphasize bitter.

The timeline does NOT work well at ALL. The MMC and FMC act like this betrayal was fresh, like 10 days ago, not ten YEARS. It's absolutely unbelievable.

This book is also rife with misogyny and blatant sexism until we get to the RAPE. Yup. You read that right. The MMC is raped and it's just brushed over. And it seems like almost everyone else in the book is sexually assaulted in some way if not raped as well. It's insane.

Weird pet peeve, one of the main side characters, Andrew is a gay man and the FMC often reflects on what a waste his good looks are because he's gay. That even though he's like a brother, she wishes she could fuck him because he's that good looking but alas.. he's gay. It was unnecessary and odd. Like the author took every cliché stereotype about homosexual men and shoved it into one character.

We learn Mac also has a son from that one night with Tessa (the OW). The son is 11 years old which makes ZERO sense because 11 years + 10 months of pregnancy would mean the cheating happened 12 years ago even though 10 years ago is repeated ad nauseum throughout the entire book but whatever. I hate inconsistences like that.

And of COURSE this "evil" ex wife Tessa, the "other woman" is the town whore, town bike, manipulative and horrific like there's not enough of that genre which is completely overdone, but she's also a rapist.

That's right, she planned and executed a drugging and raping of Mac that night that he cheated and PURPOSELY set it up so Mia would walk in and see them.

This is a woman he WILLINGLY MARRIED AND STAYED MARRIED TO FOR SIX FUCKING YEARS THEN GAVE FULL CUSTODY OF HIS SON. His excuse for marrying her is that if she can drug and assault people than who knows what she'd do to a baby. Never heard of abortion? Adoption? Shared custody? Oh no, he had to marry his rapist. *He says he never had sex with her again for those wondering*

But wait... then why does she have full custody if she's so scary and dangerous? Yeah plot hole.

The drugging sex scene is off but we get to read it which I didn't care for. Mac drinks two beers at a party with Mia. They get separated. "Someone" tells Mac that Mia is upstairs. He goes upstairs into the only unoccupied room which is lit by candles. The light switch doesn't work. There's a half naked woman on the bed who smells like Mia, is wearing the same underwear/panties she's worn before and has the same hair color. (Tessa supposedly wore a wig, stole Mia's panties/bra from the gym and used her perfume). Mac keeps getting fuzzier and fuzzier and calls Mia's name and gets on the bed. "She" starts touching him and he realizes it's wrong and probably not her but he can't move or fight back. He gives in because it feels good but is coherent enough to realize when Mia walks in that it's not her on top of him fucking him. So which is it? He was SO out of his mind drugged that he literally was raped and could not fight back but he was coherent enough to know something was wrong and that it didn't "feel" like Mia and knew when she walked in that it wasn't her but did it anyway because it felt so good?

That's not usually how date rape drugs work, in fact, when dosed, most guys can't even get an erection. Victims also can't remember what happened that night but he remembers everything with clarity ten years later except for at the end when he passed out. He also says they found Rohypnol in his system. So he's known for ten years he was drugged and assaulted. I'm not a doctor it just seemed really off when reading it.

Even grosser, his parents knew he was raped right after it happened and still encouraged him to marry his rapist because she was pregnant? No charges? Nothing?

Mia is a very unlikeable character. Even after she learns Mac was sexually assaulted, she feels terrible but also still blames him. Like she should have known, while drugged, that it wasn't her. That her and Tessa look nothing alike. I kind of get it what the author was trying to convey since it's said many times her and Tessa DO NOT look alike but she comes across cold and unfeeling.

So for funsies I guess, just when Mia and Mac are starting to get along better, Mia goes out for a girls night and gets roofied. Like this just happens all the time now author?

She turns her back on her drink for 5 seconds to ward off a handsy guy. Another guy tells her not to do that because she could get drugged, she thinks it's weird so she stays next to the creep instead of going back to her friends, and drinks her drink anyway. We get the absolutely sickening scene of Mac getting assaulted now we get one with Mia getting assaulted. The guy somehow drags her away in full view of an entire bar and the bartender, takes her into a storage closet, then undresses her and fingers her so hard, dry, that her body is slamming off the wall. Her friends bust in just when she loses consciousness. Instead of the police and ambulance, they call Mac and her brother while she's laying there naked and unconscious.

Andrew had already attacked her attacker but now Mac does too. Even though it's illegal and he's a cop. Mia miraculously wakes up in the middle of this and calls him off only to pass out again. AGAIN, not even remotely believable.

Only then does Mia have clarity on what Mac went through and feels ashamed. Even better, when she wakes up in the hospital everyone I mean her brother, the doctor, Mac, her friends all tell her how LUCKY she is because he only violated her with his fingers and didn't get to fully rape her. Just what every assault victim wants to hear. How lucky she is.

In the midst of these S.A. shenanigans there's some kind of whodunitplot happening because turns out someone paid the guy $2k to slash Mia's tires and S.A. her. There's also a weird "bad" guy named Shady that seems to lurk everywhere in the book and act creepy.

Mac takes her home from the hospital to his house so she won't be alone. They have unprotected sex. She just got assaulted. Fucking for real?!

I stopped reading and skimmed a lot of the the rest of the book.

Mac and Mia get back together. Lots, lots and lots of sex scenes. Tessa takes off. Abandons the kid, Trent. Destroys Mia's house. Plasters photos of the night she raped Mac everywhere in Mia's bedroom. Mia's brother finds out Mac was raped back when he was a teenager but still beats the shit out of him for "cheating on his sister." Mac's son Trent tries to kill Mia. Poisons her with bug spray in her food. Says his mom threatened him or she'd kill him. Everyone forgives Trent.

Mac's mom breaks down and confesses that she was raped when she was a teen and gave the baby up for adoption. We also learn Mia was essentially held down and assaulted the night she "gave away" her virginity because she saw Mac "cheating." Mac leaves her and Trent alone one night knowing she's in danger. Mia opens the door without looking b/c she's an idiot and gets tasered by Tessa. Mac is apparently the stupidest cop alive, also gets attacked and knocked out from behind.

Mia and Mac wake up and both are tied up in a room facing each other. Tessa and bad guy Shady, decide to drug and rape both of them while they both watch the other getting raped. Mac learns from Tessa he was never actually raped by Tessa that night b/c he couldn't get hard and Trent isn't his son. EVEN THOUGH HE HAD A DNA TEST. The author claims a 99.9% accuracy was a false positive because get this, Shady is really Mac's half brother his mom gave up for adoption that we only learned about a few chapters ago.

Rolling your eyes yet?

End of the line confessions, Tessa has been planning on revenge and is determined to make Mac hers since she was in 8th grade because Mia "stole" Mac from her at 14 years old. Even though has been fucking Shady who is really the town Sheriff's adopted half brother since they were also teenagers. Shady hates Mac and his whole family b/c his mom gave him away to people that abused him (she didn't know obviously, went through an adoption agency) because she was raped at 16.

So his reasons are that he chose to rape Mia when she was 18 b/c he hated Mac for having a "fantastic life" while he was beaten even though he's a product of rape himself. Tessa was also pregnant already with Shady's son (Trent) when she raped Mac but claimed it was his and the DNA test showed it was due to a false positive test.

And now they're raping Mac and Mia (again-ish) but now both as adults because "they" ruined their lives and just want to because they're messed up people.

Like we didn't have enough of these scenes already, we get scenes of Mac and Mia crying, trying to break their wrists and bleeding while watching each other get sexually molested by Tessa/Shady. Tessa even gives Mac 3x the normal dose of Rohypnol laced with Viagra so she can actually fuck him like she dreams while Shady is molesting Mia.

THIS IS 90% OF THE WAY THROUGH THE BOOK.

Then people bust in. Shady gets beaten up. Tessa gets beaten up. Mac/Mia go to the hospital, again. Tessa goes to jail and gets out after only 4 years and disappears. Shady goes to jail and dies in prison. Mac and Mia raise Trent as their own but plan to tell him the truth about his real rapist dad "soon" like it won't scar him for life and Mia a few years later gets pregnant.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THIS BOOK?!?!?!?!!??

This author isn’t for me. Her heroines are either annoying or doormats. Sometimes both. And the heroes aren’t even worth mentioning.

Although I have to suspend my reality when reading this series, this is the second book Ive read in the series and I find myself really connected to the writing style, characters and plotline. The story is a combination of suspense, misunderstanding and a second chance at love.

Safety gang: turn back now..there is sexual assault scenes and a sense of betrayl. Plus both characters act immature and put up a wall which lasts 10 years before the Hero decides to get his act together and tell the heroine what she thought she saw 10 years ago really was and that he was now ready to fight for them again. Mind you the heroine is stubborn and not in a good way but it has been a decade since the Heros betrayal. She never moved on though and she puts up a facade of being tough because the Hero broke her heart.

Summary: Hero and heroine were reenage sweethearts and saved themselves for eachother and terrible several years of dating. Then the night of her 18th birthday the heroine finds the Hero with her rival having sex. Shes devastated and gives her virginity to a complete Ahole when she gets drunk trying to drown her feelings in alcohol. The rival gets pregnant and he marr I especially her. He finally divorces his awful wife ( she's a horrible mother). Then he decides to go after the heroine and win her back by revealing the truth.

As I said I had to suspend my belief several times, that includes a completely sexless marriage.

There is a particular awful scene when the heroine is attacked at a bar in the present. Plus theres a while revenge kidnapping scenario. However I thought the writing was engaging and entertaining overall.

I didn’t like it for many reasons.
- the hero at 19 is drugged and basically almost raped by a psycho girl that afterwards claims she’s preggo.
Instead of suing her and taking his child full custody the man marries her.
Really? He had proof that he had rape drug in his system so it would have been so easy.
But he claims he didn’t want to involve the heroine, who was his gf at the time. In what ways he would have involved her more than she already was involved I just don’t know.
The young heroine saw him and ow having sex and was shattered, the same night she was abused by a man. So what would have been worse for her, to believe her bf cheated on her for ten years or to know he had been abused?
Ten years later the hero has divorced his wife that btw was never his wife because they never had sex ( so unbelievable) and now he’s after the heroine.
Ok, then he tells her he’s been raped and that should be the end of it.
But apparently everyone is just so worried about the heroine feelings that they keep blaming the hero. Really? I hate double standard. Even when it’s on the heroine part. Because the young man was raped and drugged and no one ever asked him how he was, and how he could get better. He feels guilty for causing the heroine pain, but what about him? I mean, had it been the heroine, everyone would be blaming the hero for his callous behavior and for not realizing she was being raped, but since he’s a man he is anyway guilty and has no right to feel abused.
wtf?
Really?
Not at all.
The story is disjointed.
The evil ow is psychotic and the kid, who btw, is not the hero’s son, is also being abused but his father doesn’t do anything until it’s almost too late.
I mean, of course a woman who at 19 rape and drug a boy is not fit to be a mother, what did he expect? This is all a consequence of his idiotic behavior.
There are also two other drug rape attempts by ow and evil om, I wonder how no one realized those two were sick psychos.
And a lot was going on with other people that I wasn’t really interested in.
Either you focus on a couple or you risk making a mess of it all. And that was the result.
Safety info. The heroine was with other guys and probably the hero had other women after his divorce that happened three years before the story open. He was celibate in his six years marriage and ever had sex with ow. But his story is not clear.

Loved Mac ~

Reclaim Me was the story of Mac & Mia. I was dying to know what went on with these two considering that Mia, Jaxson's sister, was was obnoxious as all to Mac, the town's sheriff, in the first book, Shatter Me.
Ten years earlier, when Mia was sixteen and Mac eighteen, something out of Mac's control happened to him at a party and completely damaged Mia. As much as it was disturbing, the part that irked me over and over was how Mia NEVER gave Mac a chance to explain what really happened that night. We're talking ten years here, people. Of course when she does find out, the guilt and remorse from the past hits her like a Mack truck (no pun intended, lol). At times, that guilt was a bit repetitive. Also, I just couldn't understand how you could love someone and not let them explain their side of the story. I loved Mac and all his alpha hotness. I couldn't warm up to Mia and her potty mouth.
In all, it was a good read with plenty of twists and turns. The crew from the first book are back as they are all heavily involved in each other's lives. I'd love to know what is going on between Nick and Chris. Alex Grayson pays a lot of attention to details in her books; her characters and places really come alive because of this. Looking forward to Andrew's story.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Book 1 of The Jaded Series and I am happy to say that Book 2 is absolutely awesome!!!

I had no idea what to expect from Mac and Mia but one thing I knew for sure was that this would be a hella emotional read and of course it was!

Mia has been avoiding listening to Mac for 10 years! After she walked in on what seemed to be an unforgivable act, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with him. He broke her heart and she would never be the same again. But Mac, isn't hearing it anymore. He is determined to explain what happened to her and hope that once she knows the truth they can start anew.

In the beginning, I wanted to shake Mia many times to get her to stop and listen to Mac. I was eager to hear what had happened to them that had caused the sweet, innocent love they once shared to be destroyed. Nothing could have prepared me for when the truth was revealed. What Mac went through was heartbreaking and the fact that he blamed himself so much for Mia's pain made me love him more even though it really wasn't his fault.

I couldn't help but message the author several times while reading this story. Each time I reached a new turn in the plot, I PMed her... Lol, I laughed a lot, yelled a lot and screamed even at my kindle once the players were made known.

In the end, I LOVED LOVED LOVED Reclaim Me and I would absolutely recommend this installment to my friends. Ms. Grayson is a wonderful writer and I am looking forward to reading more from her.

Welcome back to the Hollow. The characters we met and fell in love with are back. I have been patiently,as much as I possibly could, waiting for this since I read the last word in Shatter Me. I was in need of more of the characters but I was also in need of more of the wonderfully written words from this author, I wasn't disappointed. When you read a debut book and it literally burrows it's way into your soul you hope that the next books can live up to the experience that was had when you read the first book and I can honestly say book two met it and more. After reading Shatter Me the reader was left mouth gaping and heart breaking for the characters we met. In book two we follow Mia and Mac a couple with a history that went bad. Mia is guarded and broken from the events that caused her and the one who was to be her forever to be anything but that. Mac is a determined man and won't give up trying to fix the hurt he has caused her. He lives to see the genuine smile she gives to others be given back to him, because she is his.A story of love, mistakes, and second chances you will be so lost in these characters that before you know it you'll be like me anxiously waiting for the next story. These stories have depth, strong characters and the good steamy stuff that leaves you wanting more. This author has become an instant one click author on my list.

Wow, what a book Alex. You blew me away with Shatter Me, then we get the second book & it is phenomenal.

This is about Mia, Jaxon's sister & Mac, the Sheriff & Jaxon's best friend. These two had quite a history & there was definitely hostility between them in book 1, & with this book we get their history both individually & as a couple.
At times this was heartbreaking, the things they both had to endure were awful. They had many wasted years, they were both stubborn with each other, but it did shape them into the adults they became.
I loved all the characters & it was great catching up w/ Jaxon & Bailey.
This book definitely had its sexy moments, Mac is one hot Sheriff!!
I loved the meaning behind the seashells, brilliant. And at the beginning of every chapter, let me just say, it will make you fall in love with Mac.

Can't wait for book #3. Nick & Chris I'm hoping!! And maybe one for Andrew, I love that guy!!

Thank you for giving me the chance to read this!!

This is one fabulous read.

The character development of this story is Phenomenal. I loved that I was able to feel an attachment with the secondary characters as well as Mia and Mac. Andrew I simply adore him and his witty shirts. Jaxon, Bailey, Karen, Ethan, Chris, and Nick I fell for them all. I can not wait for Nick's story my heart hurt for him.

Alex Grayson has completely blown me away with this compelling story of two childhood sweethearts torn apart by very cruel and unfortunate circumstance. Now 10 years later Mac is done letting Mia turn away from him, he is determined to make Mia listen to him. He has a story to tell her about that fateful night their lives was forever changed.

Will it make a difference? Will Mia be able to put the past behind her? or Will the past come back and destroy them both?

Reviewed for A Wanton Book Lover Blog:

Reclaim Me is the second book in the Jaded Series. The first book is Shatter Me (which I plan to go back and read). Reclaim Me is about Jaxon's (from Shatter Me) little sister and his best-friend Mac, who is now the sheriff of their town. I obviously read Reclaim Me as a stand-alone but as I said before, I am definatetly planning on going back and reading the first book. Mac and Mia were childhood sweet-hearts ready to consemate their relationship as soon as Mia turned 18 but something happened that night that changed the course of Mia's and Mac's fairy-tale story. Now both changed and adults, Mac has been trying to explain to Mia what happened that fateful night but she has refused to listen. Mia treats Mac like garbage but Mac refuses to give-up on Mia without a fight. Reclaim Me is the story of Mac and Mia finding their ways back to each other with a little bit of harassed towards Mia from an unknown source.
I loved this book! The characters were complex and multi-dimension. The story line was suspenseful and kept me guessing as to what would happen next. I found as I read this book I had a hard time putting it down. I just couldn't wait to read what was going to happen next. I was really pulling for Mac and Mia to find their ways back to each other. Their young love sounded so perfect and true; I was heartbroken as to what transpired to be the story of their break-up.

Ok its official, i'm in love with the men and the women of this series!!! Such strong characters and such strong connections between them! I cheer at their triumphs and happiness and i tear up at their losses and pain.

Mia and Mac were destined to be and everyone around them knew it from childhood. Their bond seemed unbreakable and stood the test of time until almost adulthood when they would give each other their most sacred gift. What should have been their happiest night, on her 18th birthday, quickly becomes their most unforgettable for all the wrong reasons and leaves them both gutted and permanently damaged beyond repair.

It's been over 10 years since Mac broke Mia's heart but he is bound and determined to finally have his say and try to explain what happened that night. Even if it gets him no closer to winning back Mia he can't keep living with himself knowing that she thinks the worst of him, and if there is even the smallest chance that he can gt her back then there is nothing he wont do to try.

Once the truth is out and Mia starts to open up her heart again to Mac outside forces and the past start to get in the way again but this time Mac vows that nothing and no one will ever come between them again!

This book kept me on the edge of my seat! So many twists and turns that I did not see coming! Just when I thought I had everything figured out, I was thrown for a loop. I just love those books that totally surprise me and have me scratching my head. I still favor the first book of the series, though, but this one does not disappoint. Yes, it's graphic and explicit. So, pay attention to the author's warnings when she says if abuse, rape, graphic sexual content, or explicit language is not your thing, then this book is not for you.

In a way this series of books reminds me of a Kristen Ashley series. It's got the humor with some pretty colorful characters and their shenanigans. It's got the romance with the sex being HOT as hell! It's got the romantic suspense so much so that everything finally revealed is definitely a surprise. And, last but not least, it's got the friendships and loyalty of a group of close-knit friends that would do anything for each other. You will not be disappointed with an Alex Grayson novel. Her writing is brilliant and her imagination is impressive! Loved every bit of this next installment! Now looking forward to reading Andrew's story next. And, he's one hilarious and flamboyant character!!

An ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

I am so in love with this series and Alex Grayson's writing! If you haven't read the first book in this series, Shatter Me, I really recommend your read that one first because not only is it an awesome book, but you get introduced to all the characters! Reclaim Me is Mia and Mac's story. I was super intrigued with them when I read Shatter Me, so I was excited to get to read their book! The character development is amazing, and I really connect with the characters in Alex's stories. I'm able to feel their emotions as my own, and I love when an author is able to pull that off!

Mia and Mac were once a couple, but now it seems they can't even have a civil conversation anymore. Mac has let Mia have her space all these years, but he finally decides its time for Mia to listen to him and he wants nothing more than for her to be his again. But sometimes we can't always get things we want. And what happens when someone is bound and determined to keep Mia and Mac apart?
Fantastic job done once again by Alex Grayson! I can not wait until the next book in this series!

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Mia and Mack have a long history together. There is a lot of resentment about the past that Mia can't let go of and for good reason. Mac is determined to make her see the truth while trying to figure out his life. But he'll never give up. There were a lot of things that happened in the past that Mac will try to explain. Mia had a dream of a white picket fence and the whole happy ever after until that night when one even let to another. Now between the two of them, they will need to decide if they can make it work or if they will live apart.

There were a lot of surprises in this book. Mia is a strong woman who has a lot to take care. Mac is very determined. I really liked finding out their story and why Mia was the way she was in the first book. Everything started to fall into place. You find out a lot about both of their pasts. Alex Grayson has a way of putting a lot of emotions into her books. She makes you feel that the characters are real. There is never any detail left untold which makes for an awesome book. This is an emotional story that will keep you turning each page.

Better than book one

I really enjoyed this story. It was a lot less over dramatic than the first book, and while it definitely still had several scenes of disturbing sexual violence, it was not anywhere near as depraved or graphic as book one. I grew to love the characters more and more, especially Andrew and Chris. Mia and Mac were certainly meant to be together and had the history to prove it. Mac still believed it, but Mia had given up on him long ago. Mac had let her have her anger because he had other issues to cope with, but now he is ready for Mia to learn the truth. Unfortunately, that truth proves pretty dangerous to Mia's well being.

I hope book three is about Chris and Nick. It is obvious Chris has feelings for Nick, and he seems to get a bit jealous over her at times. I think they could be good together.

Greatly disliked the MFC *SPOILERS*

Mia spent a great deal of the book more concerned with her hurt feelings than the fact that the man she supposedly loves was s*xually a*saulted. She gives him a quick "sorry" but that's about it. She doesn't check on his wellbeing,or offer comfort. She made everything about her. Upset about what his a*sault cost HER,not him.If you can overlook that, her brother Jaxon beats him up when he finds out for "hurting his sister." Like what happened to him was his choice when it clearly wasn't. So a likeable character from the previous book is now ruined. I will not be reading any more of this series.

After reading the first book your can't help but want to know what happened with Mac and Mia, and I was excited that their book was the next over. There was about a 2 year time jump from the end of the first book too this one but nothing was really missed.

Mac was amazing! He was tougher then I had originally thought his character was going to be. He was charming and sweet and dedicated to those that he loved.

Mia was strong too. At times she upset me because once we know what happened with them, all we want is for her to open up and accept Mac again. As the story went on, we see her strengths and see her become the person who she was in the past.

So, without giving too much away, the plot is revolving around big misunderstandings, but then we get a lot of mystery added in. The author did an amazing job with the touchy subjects that were in this story. I loved the second chance feel for these characters. They were in love when they were younger and seeing them fall back in love after everything comes out was an awesome ride.

Overall, even though I really did enjoy the first book, I thought this one was done a lot better. Having both point of use really help me connect with both characters on that deep level. I'm really excited to see what's going to come next! 4 stars #2OCCJD

Alex Grayson has once again done an amazing job with this installment in this series. This series just keeps getting better and better. I am absolutely hooked to all the characters and finding out all their stories.

This book as you can tell from the blurb is definitely not for the faint of heart. This book is dark, gritty, heart breaking, emotional, suspenseful, full of guilt, misunderstandings, resentment and so much more. After 10 years of Mia avoiding Mac for something she thought she knew happened, they finally have the chance to explain and see if more can transpire. Their lives haven't been easy and happiness isn't going to be easy to find now as well.

I highly recommend this book. I can't wait for the next!!
