Bombshell

Rate this book
The full story of Katie Spencer's journey toward becoming the most average superhero of all-time, in one easy-to-carry volume!

Katie Spencer had a completely normal teenage life. She had school work, a loving family, her first real boyfriend... and then one day her blood exploded.

Katie lived in a world without superheroes, until the day she decided to don a costume and become the superpowered BOMBSHELL!

The only problem; like any teenaged girl, Katie knew next-to-nothing about superheroes, or how they'd be able to function in the real world. Her career as a costumed crimefighter was shaping up to be fairly lackluster...

Find out why BOMBSHELL was selected as Moby's recommended reading on Free Comic Book Day 2013, and why the series was the most downloaded title on Comics Plus in August and September 2013.

I picked this book up on Free Comic Book Day at Lost World of Wonders in Milwaukee where a local artist had setup a table to do sketches and sign books.

I didn't expect much from it because of this, but boy was I wrong.

The story isn't deep, a young girl in high school discovers that she has super powers and tries to find out how to use them for good.

However, along the way she makes allot of mistakes which lead to a number of complications.

The story is told through Katie Spencer (Bombshell) going to therapy and recounting the experience. This method worked incredibly well to tell the story in an interesting way.

The art is also surprisingly good, leaving me wanting more.

There is a small section in the back that was an interesting look behind the curtains as you see a little bit of how the comic came together.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story and art and was really glad that I supported this local creator.
