There's only two ways out of Flint Springs. You can die here, or you can ride with the Devil's Due.
Lainey... Everyone knows what kind of girl a Devil wants, and to escape an abusive stepfather and a dead-end life, I'm ready to do whatever it takes... Even if that means giving myself to Cade Turner. He's the most dangerous biker I've ever met... He will protect me... He will take me far away from this place and make me his...
I'm trapped now, on the back of his bike and completely at his mercy. When you ride with the Devils, you've got to give the devil his due...
And I'm starting to like it...
Author's Note: Devil's Due is a standalone dark and STEAMY romance with mature themes and a HEA.
Theresa Leigh is a romance author whose love of reading is so intense, she sometimes injures herself by walking around with her nose in a book. She loves writing stories that have you feeling every emotion... sometimes all on the same page.
After five years of writing romance under a penname, Theresa finally decided to own up to how she was spending her all time. Her mother now knows all about the kinds of books she writes. She reacted more positively to it than Theresa expected.
Theresa lives and writes in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York State (not the city) (that distinction is important to her), where she lives with her husband, twin sons and twin orange cats, Pumpkin and Jackie O’Lantern. When she's not writing or reading, she enjoys eating too much Thai food, walking around barefoot, and cooing baby talk at her cats.
I’m still scratching my head and trying to decide whether to rate this book 3 stars or go lower. I read the book description on Good Reads when it was first released with no reviews and decided to take a chance. This story had so much potential but the execution left much to be desired. I started the book and initially thought it was a train wreck because of so much going on in the first chapter but I couldn’t put it down. I had to see what was going to happen. I really didn’t care for the H (Cade) or the h (Lainey) but the author wrote one character, Moloch, so well I could visualize him in my mind. Moloch is the devil incarnate in the book and the author’s description captured my imagination. I thought the story would even go over into the PNR, but it didn’t. I think this could have been a very good book if the characters had been fleshed out a little more and if there had not been major questions left unanswered.
Things I didn’t like: Gratuitous sex. I like good sex scenes, erotic, BDSM on the lite side, sweet, etc. But the sex in this book was OTT. It was unbelievable that a 19 year old could take all the men she took and how they took her. Add to that the fact she loved it. The other sex scenes just did not engage me. We have another big O by Harley that she experiences as she rides away from her trailer. Lainey. She came across as self-centered and at times TSTL. She becomes the hero and savior by the end of the story, which was a little unbelievable to me. Cade – Weak, weak, weak. How can he fall in love with two women on separate occasions within mere hours and then take them and leave them with what he knows to be a deprived, sexually deranged individual? I got so confused at the end of the book when Lainey saves Pauline and there is this reunion between Cade and Pauline where it appears that Cade still loves Pauline. Pauline leaves and he immediately takes Lainey to his cabin. Lainey clings to him and convinces herself Cade really loves her. This relationship triangle was just a cluster freak to me. I’m saying WTF? This book had just way too much going on. The story needed to slow down and maybe go easy on the shock value.
What I did like: The way the author wrote about and described Moloch. I wish she had been able to write the other characters this well so that they jumped off the page at me.
Lainey - Lainey is a motherless 19 year old living with her abusive step father. She lives in a small town where the Devils Due MC holds a meeting each year. She decides to escape by getting the MC to take her away. When the MC comes to town, early one morning she goes to the bar dressed as club whores usually dress. She's not a virgin and has been sexually active. She meets the H, Cade, at the bar and within minutes has sex with him behind the bar. He tries to tell her to go home and forget joining the club. The VP arrives and she goes back into the club and VP says she has to pay the devil his due for them to take her. So this wild sex orgy occurs in the bar with her on a table and having sex with 3 to 4 men at the same time and with them changing places. This wild sex orgy cannot be described as rape because the h is willing and ready for it. VP sends her home and tells her they will let her know if they will take her with them. Cade and his brothers ride into the trailer park and wish her away. Cade says she will be his old lady but the President (Moloch) must approve all old ladies first. Lainey was not a likeable character at all to me.
Cade – Cade’s deceased father was the previous MC president. When his dad died of a heart attack, Cade disappeared after Moloch pulled a coup and took the president’s title. Prior to the father’s death, Cade helps his junkie biological and MC brother rob a bank. I still don’t quite understand why he wanted to rob the bank. The robbery goes wrong, people are killed including the brother and Cade escapes with the bank teller, Pauline, leaving his brother behind. So he is guilt ridden for leaving his brother to die. He immediately makes Pauline his old lady and is in love with her. Upon Moloch’s assumption of the presidency, he makes a rule that he must approve all old ladies. So Cade takes Pauline to Moloch and leaves her with him. Moloch tells Cade she ran away. Pauline is the sister of one of the rival Rat Kings MC. So now Cade immediately, like within 24 hours, makes Lainey his old lady and takes her to Moloch and leaves her there for days.
I could keep on with more spoilers but I think I’ve given a pretty good picture of my thoughts. Writing a review for this book was hard because like the book because I can’t say I hated it but I know there will be more negative reviews than positive on this book. That is sad because I think the author had the potential and writing skills to make this story a good one. I guess you can say there is a HEA since Cade/Lainey ride off into the sunset with him going back to assume leadership of the MC since Moloch was killed.

normally I just rate by stars I don't do a lot of reviews however with this book I just had to with that being said let me tell you don't take this review to heart make up your nown mind but I have to say I skiped the majority of this book and I never do that I mean never so for me it had to be that bad. first off we meet the h and really I hate her with a passion I read a shit ton of books but I have never disliked the girl as much as I did here. she is a slut and I mean a slut maybe if I actually read the middle I wouldn't feel this way but after the bar scene and then the hotel I skiped to the end I cant actually leave a book unfinshed so I had to read the end but still she is abused by her step dad and I get it but come on she is old enough to be on her own so grow the fuck up put your big girl panties on and do it on your own I realize this is fiction and normally the weak girl doesn't bother me I cant really relate to that but I do like my romance books so I over look it for the most part but really I get its a small town but she has optioms other than fucking a crew of bikers I mean come the fuck on if she were a club girl and actually wanted to sleep with them then fine its hot as hell to read but in this case she only did it for freedom after being warned then she is dismissed and goes home feeling sorry for herself well wth did you think was gonna happen you would feel fan fucking tastic. then they show up and take her with them. after that she passes out wakes in a hotel then fucks the H as if none of what she did before never happened. after the alley scene where she is rescued I skipped to the end so it may have gotten better but after her reaction to the bar gang bang and then feeling like shit just to turn around and fuck the H again I just couldn't believe it I tried to read on and I knew that the mc had something to do with the missing bank teller so I said to hell with this story and skipped to the end where she rides with him to fix his problems so I will say I don't really care whar happened or whats to come so in all I will say I might read this author again just cause I thought this book was bad doesn't mean that all her work is that way. but again don't take my word for it read it your self.
would I recommend this book- no do I recommend you agree with me- hell to the no is it worth the money- again no will I read this author again- yea as this is the only book I have read and every one deserves a second chance.
* note to author in case you read this review I am truly sorry that I hated this book so much I hate leaving a negative review because it takes time and courage for you to even write a book so in that regard thank you for your time in writing. I wish you the best of luck with any up coming books and I will be on the look out for another book that I might love.*
A small town girl lives with her stepfather who is very abusive. She is willing to do anything to get out of this small town. The only option she sees is to get involved with an MC. Ok, I had to suspend reality on this one.
The book had lots of potential. I did not see what was special about Cade. Lainey was so "young" in the beginning of the book but very brave and smart (unlike Cade) at the end. Team Lainey!
Lainey is the only reason that I gave this one two stars. She is one badass lady. As an MC book though, this one was extremely lacking and unbelievable. Lainey is the only character that was even remotely developed. That is just my opinion though. I read a lot of books and I tend to not give away high ratings very easily.
This one had a lot of potential but too much just didn't work for me. The main thing though was Lainey, damn she was all over the place...like split personality all over the place. The worst part was her "bad ass" side was just a stupid ass, really stupid ass. Cade was actually okay although there wasn't a lot of build up to his character what was there was likable.
**Possible mild spoilers below***
The plot was a bit rushed and if it had been a little more fleshed out it would have been a really good story. But there was too much time spent on the skanks in the club, Lainey's asinine inner thought, and not enough time laying out Cade's set up with Moloch and Pauline or club issues.
I have noticed some reviews that Cade was in love with Pauline and in a matter of days was in love with Lainey. But Pauline had been with Moloch for months after the issue with Cade and apparently she chose Moloch for a reason, so I'm not seeing Cade in love with her otherwise he wouldn't have claimed Lainey. I have no doubt he was still shocked at the real reason she was with Moloch that was put out there at the end but as for love, I just didn't see it. But yes it was kind of insta love for Cade and Lainey but as fast as everything else was thrown out there that kind of fit with the flow of the book.
Overall not a bad read but not great either, certainly had the potential to be awesome though.
I was lucky to get this one when it was free because it certainly needs a lot of work done to make it worth paying for...disappointing since the blurb was awesome but the execution of the story was lacking. Story was over-the-top, hero and heroine were mismatched and not as likeable as they needed to be...sex was hot and bad-guys were creepy...but it wasn't enough and had me skimming through the book to get to the end. If you don't read a lot of biker romances, then you probably will think this one is ok...I am just too picky and read so many books that I am not as easy to accept it when there are so many really engrossing choices out there.
*** 3 *** "little girl is in way over her head" stars
OMG!! I loved this book. At first it seemed cut and dry but it turned a corner on the h getting a backbone and the villain get what was coming to him. I thought that the Hero at first was a douchbag but he ended up making up for it in the end. It had lots of twists and turns that were really thrilling.... It's not the typical MC book but I loved it all the same. Lots of plot twists that were not expected!! I was really surprised about a lot of it. Took me unawares. Figured it would be like the norm but it wasn't. If you like intrigue, you would like this book. You won't know what is going on for a while then it all comes out. Good book.....
Great premise but too much of a stretch for me to feel this could happen the way it was told. Very vivid sex scenes that felt implausible at times given the heroines age and experience. Hard to accept that she went to Bible class and had the courage to do what she did right off the bat. It did hold my interest and for the most part it had all the ingredients for a higher star rating but needed tweaking in many places to be believable.Too bad because it just needs editing more and it would have delivered.....
Mmmmm !!! Well that was brutal in parts but a great read now I've always wanted to be a biker babe but if that's how u have to audition I definitely won't match the criteria !!! A small town girl wants to get away from the abusive stepdad and she waits to hear the rumble of the Harley's pipes that come every year but this time she wants to go with them she auditions !! I say that mildly and gets the job !!! And is taken by the sexy Cade and things don't go according to plan xx I did find at times in went a bit off the boil
When I read some of the reviews for this book I was in two minds wether or not to start it, I'm glad I did as it was ok, the only criticism I have is that I would have liked to have known more about the characters, I think expansion on the plot would have been better as well as I found it rushed in places.
Not so good. I don't get how you meet someone and within a day, you have had sex but raped but you are in love....???? This didn't make any sense to me. Especially since Cade had wanted to mKe another girl his old lady???? I think I might wasted my money this time.
Not the best MC book I've read. This didn't really do it for me. Lainey Wants to escape her stepfathers abuse so willingly lets half an MC fuck her so they will let her ride with them?!! Jesus, have some self worth and respect.
3.5 Stars A real quick read. Small town girl who will do anything to get out. And trust me when i say she does. Prepare yourself for straight out raunch with a happy ever after.
This was a really quick read. Fast paced. Good book. Lainey is 19 years old but acts like someone much older. I liked her. I wish we could have delved into Turner's background a little more.
