Centuries ago, guardian angel Lucien committed a terrible sin. He gave into his own desires and revealed himself to the mortal woman he'd been charged to protect. By kissing her, he condemned himself. Torn of his wings and his angelic powers, thrown down into the City Below, Lucien now serves Satan as an incubus who claims souls for his master from the City Above, and who feeds on the energy stolen from his mortal lovers. Dark, sexy and charming, he's been top of his league for decades uncounted.
Until His Infernal Highness decides to send Lucien looking for a lost angel. Lucien has no idea what he did to deserve such a punishment, and the touch of an angel could destroy him. Yet the challenge and the potential kudos of seducing one of his former heavenly kin leads him on.
But when he finds the angel, he learns he still has more to lose than his already forsaken soul.

Previously an Analytical Chemist & stay-at-home mum, Pippa Jay is now a Science Technician who writes scifi and supernatural stories to engage the emotions. Somewhere along the way a touch of romance crept into her work and refused to leave. In between torturing her plethora of characters, she spends the odd free moment looking after her chickens, creating cosplay for humans and dolls alike, and studying the Dark Side of the Force. Although happily settled in the historical town of Colchester in the UK with her husband of 30 years and three not-so-little monsters, she continues to roam the rest of the Universe in her head.
Pippa Jay occasionally blogs at Adventures in Scifi, and Romancing the Genres. Her works include YA and adult stories crossing a multitude of subgenres from scifi to the paranormal, often with romance, and she’s one of eight authors included in a science fiction romance anthology—Tales from the SFR Brigade. She’s also a quadruple SFR Galaxy Award winner, been a finalist in the Heart of Denver RWA Aspen Gold Contest (3rd place), the 2015 EPIC eBook awards, the 2015 RWA LERA Rebecca (2nd place), and the GCC RWA Silken Sands Star Awards (2nd place).

As always, Pippa did not disappoint! This book is a perfect blend of paranormal and science fiction romance, with a splash of urban fantasy.
I did not expect the SF elements, but they were a beautiful addition and really fleshed out the world No Angel takes place in. The world is very much grounded in the SF elements while at the same time not standing out and not being something readers will feel intimidated by. Balanced is the word. Perfectly balanced. I'm not well read in the angel sub-genre of paranormal, but it read as fresh and unique to me.
This short is told entirely from the hero's POV. And it's perfect. Lucien is everything I love in a hero. He's wounded, has a conscience, and wants to do the right thing even when it's going to cost him everything. The resolution was spot-on and tied things up beautifully.
Unlike with most shorts, this one didn't leave me wishing it was longer, or feeling like pieces were missing. It's exactly what it needs to be. Nothing more, nothing less. And I'd totally read more shorts set in this world, and of course I'd be all over a full-length novel in this world.
If this is your first Pippa Jay read, go check out the rest of her stuff! Her science fiction romance is awesome.
Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
One of the cool things about the trope, is the endless variations in storylines. The many different ways they can tell their tales – and Pippa Jay tells an emotional and enthralling story in No Angel.
Lucien is one of the best kind of tortured heroes: damaged beyond repair, or so he thinks. I was glued to this right from the first pages, and hoped desperately that he could find redemption. It looked impossible, and that made me want it all the more.
If you love angels & demons, and fancy a quick read to escape for an hour, this is for you.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened this book, but by the end of the first chapter I couldn't help falling in love with Lucien, the wicked incubus whose been damned to hell for revealing himself to a mortal he was once a guardian angel to.
Pippa does a brilliant job of showing just what turmoil a fallen angel turned demon endures as he struggles with the heavenly morals that refuse to leave his being, despite seven centuries of sin.
If you love stories of redemption, fallen angels, and self discovery, this book is for you. Highly recommend!
I got this as a beta read, so I haven't read the finalized version as yet, but I truly enjoyed it. I'm a fan of Pippa's style and other works and this didn't disappoint. A story of redemption (sort of), full of powerful emotion and fast paced. Highly recommend.
Jay totally immerses us in the demon world in this story. Though short and a simple storyline, this one is no less captivating, making one wish it were a bit longer.
