تنها نمایشنامه کمدی از تراژدین فرانسوی قرن ۱۷، ژان راسین

آن چنان که در مقدمه کتاب آمده این اثر نقدی ست بر سیستم قضایی معاصر نویسنده ، هرچند که راسین پیشتر با مدح لویی چهاردهم به مناسبت ازدواجش، از او صله دریافت کرده بوده است ....

از مقدمه :
راسین در نگارش آن [همین اثر] از نمایشنامه زنبوران اثر اریستوفان ملهم بوده است ... در خلق شخصیت ها و موقعیت ها چندان غلو شده است که هیچ کس خود را در آن باز نمی شناسد و از آن آزرده نمی گردد وانگهی او در پس اثر آریستوفان پناه گرفت تا بتواند آزادانه صاحب منصبان قضای

ترجمه به زبان گفتاری است و ابتدا خواندنش احتمالا کمی با سختی است اما بعد راحت تر می شود. متن ترجمه روون و سلیس نیست اما بالاخره قابل فهمه - تطبیقی ندادم که بدونم چقدر مطابقت داره

نمایشنامه قراره کمدی باشه اما کمدی بودنش ضعیفه - برای من که فقط یک بار اون هم با ارفاق به خندیدن واقعی کشید. به نظرم بیش از همه صحنه ی اول از پرده ی سوم خنده دار است - اگر نگوییم تنها جای خنده دار! در درجه ی بعد شاید بشود گفت صحنه ی هفتم از پرده ی اول. اصلا یک کمدی برجسته نیست

Really, now I think I have read all of Richard Wilbur's translations of French verse. Found this play in the Dramatist's Play Service version for productions, not a regular publisher like his others. And according to Google this is it.

That said, the most compelling reasons to read this is a completist urge. It is short, at times funny, but not nearly funny enough to justify its absurd and flimsy plot about an increasingly deranged judge, his highly litiginous neighbor, and the trial of a dog acc
