I'm one of those who enjoy reading the what happens after the Happily Ever After in stories so I mentally jumped up and down with glee when I saw that Adrian and Kat were getting a follow-up novella. Their rocker fairy tale romance is one of my all-time favorite books. This one went quickly and it was somewhat a surprise from what I was expecting.
As this is a follow-up story of sorts, yes, it definitely needs to be read in order. Besides, Louder Than Love, the first book, is a can't miss as far as I'm concerned.
Normally, I'd offer a longer summation of the story, but this one really can be summed up quickly. Adrian wants to give Kat a special day and a surprise evening of her dreams so he does just that by enlisting the aid of some special co-conspirators. While being happy, Kat stews a little wondering if the fairy tale is really just a dream that she will wake up from and if things will fall apart if Adrian goes back on tour. Adrian being Adrian; he knows exactly what his lady librarian needs to feel safe in their love.
This novella is what comes after the big high of success after the band succeeded with their reunion concert and Adrian and Kat also reunited. The story takes it slow as the pamper me day progresses. I thought it was hilarious that each time Kat thought she'd have some sexy time with Adrian, the doorbell would ring again. The middle of the story lagged particularly when they went over the details of how the band came together and its early days. I found it interesting, but also found it an odd thing to tell at this point of the story. But then things sped up both in pace and in intriguing events. This is when I worked out that this novella wasn't just a follow-up to Louder Than Love, but was also an intro to the next story which will be Riff's which made sense of that segue into the band's history.
The heat between Adrian and Kat was sizzling. He is very much the rocker Prince Charming with his passion, his thoughtful acts, and his music making. Kat goes swoony over his lyrics, his sultry charisma, and the way he is with her daughter. His big finale at the end of the story left me grinning like a crazy gal and clutching my melting romance loving heart. Adrian Digger Graves rocks!
All in all, I was super excited to read the novella and it did the job of leaving me eager for the next book. Rocker romance fans really need to give this series a try.
My thanks to Penguin Group for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
