This is a book that grabs you by the hair and drags you along for the harrowing, chilling and traumatic ride.
We follow Vera, an author determined to finish her next book in a new genre, to an old cottage in the woods, where things may not be all that they seem...
Once I started, I couldn't put this down. The prose is poetic in places, the descriptions detailed and graphic, Vera's internal monologue is gut wrenching at times and maniacal at others. I just had to know what was going to happen next, nothing was predictable about this story. At times it was fast paced and others, slow, really illustrating to the reader, perfectly, the highs and lows Vera was experiencing during her stay at the cottage.
The Man's presence is truly felt throughout this story, and you can sense him in a lot of her choices and actions. It was really well done here.
Unreliable narrators are some of my favourite to read, and this really hit the nail on the head for that for me.
The ending had me staring at the page, mouth open, wondering what I had just read but absolutely needing more!
When Carietta and Sarah come together you can expect nothing less than a powerhouse duo. I have loved them both as authors sice the very beginning of their careers. I fucking hate bugs! And the things written within these disgusting pages will stick with me for awhile. Seemlessly sewn together. Vile, unsettling, and poetic. Thank you so much for the ARC opportunity. I adore you both and I absolutely loved the book!!!!!
This book was a wild ride from the start to the end. It was one of those books that just made you keep reading because it just drags you in. the entire time I was reading I had an odd feeling and I could not put my fingers on it until the end and then I was left sitting there in awe of what I just read.
