Ever read a book where you're pretty sure you and the author would hit it off and be best friends? Yeah, that's me and this book!

Loved the story, the hysterical characters and the setting - Italy, one of my favorite places on Earth.

The stars aligned and I was in the perfect mood for this book. It was exactly what I was looking for.

A perfect quick, light and funny beach read.

Italy, Merlot, vineyards, vespas, chocolate, sun, glorious food and romance...what more could you want in a novel?!

Guys, after being published in four parts, "You Had Me at Merlot" is finally out in paperback, in all its shiny glory, and it looks gorgeous! I still can remember how much joy it was for me to download each part to my kindle and escape for an hour or two to the sunny, full of scents Italy, but it was also incredible joy to eventually see it as a whole novel and re - read it. This book belongs to the highest category of funny, funny with a big F, tactful funny, hilariously funny, laughing out lou

My mother always told me to try and say something nice about things if you're going to go on and say nasty things ab out them, so following my mother's advice.... there were some nice bright colours on the cover.

The biggest mistake I made after that was actually opening the cover, and proceeding to read this completely and utterly cringeworthy offering. And then, I made 400 or so more mistakes by turning every page. Why oh why oh why did I give up so much of my life to this embarrassing drivel?

Elle is happy being single. She spends most time at her job anyway, leaving her almost no time for a love life. Also, she loves not having to share the little things in life with someone. Life is just easier this way. Her friend Laurie is also single, but she is unlike Elle and desperately wants to find true love.

So when Laurie begs Elle to go on vacation with her to a singles’ holiday at a Tuscan winery called You Had Me at Merlot, Elle begrudgingly says yes. While Laurie is off trying to find
"Clearly I am also ancient, because when we got back to our rooms I went straight to sleep, feeling utterly crumpled and in need of a wash when I woke up at seven."

I love this book. Though I gave it a 3 star, i love it. It wasn't the best I had ever read of romance but its an enjoyable read that I will still recommend to people.

It's not a typical romance everyone wants but its a cute fluffy funny romance that everyone needs to read once a while.

The writing is easy, funny and the plotline was ba

If you're looking for a summery, simple, and wine-filled pick-up novel, "You Had Me at Merlot" by Lisa Dickenson is your choice.

Dickenson's novel introduces a humorous and fun story of Elle and Laurie, two best friends, embarking on a singles' holiday in Italy. I enjoyed the "lightness" of this novel and found it an entertaining read to kick-start my summer holiday. The novel brings together amusing character dynamics and many wine-filled and comedy-filled personas.

This was a totally fun and light read. It’s perfect for a beach read and it really gets you into the holiday and summer feeling.

This book was funny and introduces you to lovely characters. It will make you crave pizza, wine and everything Italian.

The story is set in a vineyard in Tuscany and is a pure chick-lit, which will put you in a good and happy mood throughout the whole story.

I can’t quite contain my excitement at this book. My initial thoughts were ‘I wonder if I can get away with just putting ‘BUY THIS BOOK NOW’ at size 72pt text as my review, but think I owe it to Lisa Dickenson, the publishers and, of course, you guys, my adoring public to put into words how just much I loved this book.

I read and really enjoyed Lisa’s last book ‘The Twelve Dates of Christmas’ a lot, but this one was on another level of awesomeness. I mean

I read You Had Me at Merlot when it was released in 2014 as four-part serialized novel. It was easily one of my favorite books I read in 2014. It was brilliant from the start to the end.

In You Had Me at Merlot we meet Elle and her best friend Laurie. Elle loves her life as single: no obligations, not accountable to anyone. She is very dedicated to her work. Working as a marketing manager in a PR agency in London she gives up a lot free time get a better position in the company. Laurie is quite t
This is my first novel by this author and if I'm honest it was the sypnosis that first caught my attention. A vineyard in tuscany(my dream vacation) romance ,wine and a vineyard it sounded like the perfect book and it turns out it was! One thing that really stood out for me was how funny it was literally the whole way through i was laughing and not to myself I'm talking laughing fits of hysteria (my family think I'm slightly loosing the plot I'm sure) it was one of them books you didn't want to ...more

This was a really engaging book that combines friendships, the single life, wonderful locations and a wine tasting holiday with romance. Laurie and Ellie go on a singles holiday in Tuscany and you can imagine yourself in the vineyards.
It was a really quick, fun read leaving you with a wonderful summery afterglow- having enjoyed every single page. You get to know the characters really well and are rooting for them. One of those books that is impossible to put down as it draws you along , urging y

I honestly dont know where all the 4 and 5 stars are coming from or how the author managed to get this book published in the first place. Badly written childish story from someone who is trying desperately to stay relevant.

I would have never gone past the first paragraph but as I was given this book from a friend for Christmas I felt obliged to finish it! Luckily i didnt have any other book on holiday with me so I had no choice!

I didn’t want to read this book at first because of the cheesy title, but the title makes perfect sense when you read it!

A short easy read, not much of a plot, and very predictable, but I loved the setting and the descriptions of the wine, the food and the surroundings.

It made me laugh out loud more than once!

Nice but too shallow

It's a fun book to read but didn't make me laugh and there could be a bit more effort with the story line
Easy read, nothing special and easy to forget. Sometimes it's exactly what's needed.

I am shocked by the poor language and even less well written sweet love story in the book. How does anyone decide to publish such a thing at all?!

Loved but hated how much this made me crave a holiday in the sun! I also loved the way that it made me feel it was a simple read and then think differently and then back and to to different thought lines, a lovely story to lift the mood were all in atm and a great read altogether!

This is a diversion from the usual high octane thriller / crime books that I usually read but I sometimes need to just wind it all down and read something a little lighter in genre as a bit of respite. Kind of like a palate cleanser between heavier courses if you will.
So, we have Elle and her best mate Laurie. Elle is very happily living the single girl life but Laurie is kind of desperate to follow all the rest of their friends down the marriage and kids route and begs Elle to join her as her w

You Had Me at Merlot had me right from the start, hook line and sinker. This is the perfect book to read on a summer afternoon with a glass of wine in one hand.

For starters, it’s set in Italy, which is an utterly gorgeous setting ever, and there is wine involved and lots of gorgeous romance. And a very handsome sounding man. What more could a girl ask for? I was GUTTED when I read the last page because it meant that this book was OVER

You Had Me At Merlot makes for a great summer holiday read with gorgeous surroundings, romance and wine flowing throughout. It took me back to my own special memories of a holiday in Italy where I also visited the wonderful cities of Pisa and Florence; I especially loved Ponte Vecchio with its jewellers stretching over the bridge – oh yes and the gelato!

The story is centred on Elle and her friend Laurie who are the last of their group to be single which is fine by Elle as she is completely comfo

This is a lovely story of 2 friends who go on a singles wine tasting holiday to Italy. But it is much more than that!

Elle is a clever woman, happily single, and a workaholic - hoping to reach the top in her job in marketing. Laurie is looking for love and they get on really well together - some of the conversations are very funny!

On the holiday Elle meets Jamie, the son of the vineyard owners, another happy singleton. The book follows their relationship, together with the characters on the holi

Elle is a career girl she loves her job, is fiercely independent and has no intention of falling in love and getting tied down by kids. Her best friend Laurie however is the opposite she is determined to meet Mr Right and settle down and have a family and so when they decide to go on holiday Elle reluctantly agrees to a singles one in Italy - she doesn't have to get involved with the men she can just enjoy the sunshine and beautiful Italian countryside.

Once there in the beautiful Tuscany sunshin

I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book via netgalley, thanks to the publisher & author.

What a fun read! Elle and Laurie throw caution to the wind to embark on an Italian singles holiday with a difference; wine, lots of wine! Obviously things don't go quite as planned and the holiday throws up unanticipated dilemmas for all involved. The hilarious antics and banter between the friends had me laughing out loud plenty of times and the camaraderie amongst the group really

Wow! My second Lisa Dickenson book and I absolutely adored it! It literally took me to Italy and I could just see myself there riding a Vespa, drinking a glass of wine or two, enjoying the gorgeous sun and having the time of my life with my best friend. Surprisingly, it took me only one day to read this book (which normally takes me 3 days) but I must say I was totally engrossed by it. Hilariously romantic and yes, the perfect summer read! I bought another copy for a friend of mine and told her ...more
