Clan McDunnah #1-3

Caelen's Wife: The Complete Collection

Rate this book
The complete collection of the Caelen's Wife Series includes A Murmur of Providence, A Whisper of Fate, and A Breath of Promise.

Rumor has it the water on Clan McPherson lands is magical….

Clan McPherson has known peace amongst their neighboring clans for more than one hundred years. That peace is threatened when Fiona McPherson is made chief after the death of her husband.
Known more for her fighting skills than her beauty, Fiona refuses the multiple proposals of marriage that begin to seemingly arise from nowhere. She may be the chief of her clan, but she’s still a woman. It isn’t Fiona they want, but her land and she’s willing to fight to the death to keep it.

Rumor has it Caelen McDunnah has lost his mind…

Caelen McDunnah, the chief of Clan McDunnah, has no desire to remarry. He’s perfectly content to still mourn the loss of his first wife and babe, even if it has been sixteen years. Until he meets the beautiful and feisty Fiona McPherson.
Known to start a fight out of sheer boredom or madness — no one is ever truly sure which — Caelen suddenly finds himself in the middle of battles he has no desire to fight, but fight them he will if it means he can have Fiona McPherson as his own.

There is always a wee bit of truth in every rumor.

USA Today Bestselling Author, storyteller and cheeky wench, SUZAN TISDALE lives in the Midwest with her verra handsome carpenter husband. All but one of her children have left the nest. Her pets consist of dust bunnies and a dozen poodle-sized, backyard-dwelling groundhogs – all of which run as free and unrestrained as the voices in her head. And she doesn’t own a single pair of yoga pants, much to the shock and horror of her fellow authors. She prefers to write in her pajamas.
Suzan writes Scottish historical romance/fiction, with honorable and perfectly imperfect heroes and strong, feisty heroines. And bad guys she kills off in delightfully wicked ways.
She published her first novel, Laiden’s Daughter, in December, 2011, as a gift for her mother. That one book started a journey which has led to more than twenty published titles. To date, she has sold more than 750,000 copies of her books around the world. They have been translated into Italian, French, German, and Spanish.
You will find her books in digital, paperback, and audiobook formats.

WOW...just WOW!!!

Oh my Lordy!! I absolutely love a good highland historical romance and this one was AWESOME! It was emotional, sweet, funny and passionate... in a perfect audiobook way. See, I'm finding myself content to have the door shut in my face (for the intimate scenes) when it comes to audiobook listening. I still want to 'see' the connection and believe there is passion between the couple. I just find it a wee bit weird having a narrator get all hot and heavy in my ear as I'm nodding my head in *Good Morning* to my fellow walkers. I also find it a tad uncomfortable to have a talented male narrator with a mature voice talk about *thrusting manhoods ... enveloping sheaths ... finding ecstasy... * I could go on but you know (wink, wink) what I'm talking about.

Talking about narrators, Brad Wills was phenomenal. His ability to change with the characters was brilliant and very entertaining. He even sang for me and had me sniffling on my walk with the emotions he evoked. A truly talented narrator and I will be looking for more of his narrations, especially if it's more of Suzan Tisdale's stories.

I really loved the romance between Caelen and Fiona. It was definitely a slow burn kind of romance because they had a wee bit of emotional baggage to deal with first. They had both been married before and thought what they had shared with their partners was love. Both Caelen and Fiona seemed determined to avoid happiness and love because they were scared of having their hearts broken again. Unfortunately, they were both Lairds of their clans which created a further barrier to finding love again. Fiona is the Laird of a smaller clan and she worried that her clan would be absorbed into Caelen's larger one. Caelen worried that his duties to his clan would take priority over his wife... again.

In the background of their love story, we also have to deal with clan politics, greedy rivals and deceptions that could lead to war.

Honestly, I'm so glad that this audiobook was provided as a complete collection. I know my enjoyment would have been lessened if I'd had to wait between instalments. The pace was perfect, the storyline was riveting, and the connection between Caelen and Fiona was easy to 'see'. I'm kind of hoping that Suzan Tisdale considers adding more of her wonderful stories to the Audible Escape package. I will definitely be back for more.

Caelen's Wife was an outstanding romance that swept me away instantly. This book is the fourth of the series, but is really the complete collection of the series. Its a tale that surrounds this one couple. This book contains books 1-3. And of course, we have one of my recent favorite narrators "Brad Wills" telling the tale and man he did such a great job and his VOICE....like seriously, the songs he sings....BRILLIANT!! I honestly can't get enough of his work and he does fantastic with telling a Suzan Tisdale romance.

This book begins, when there is a rumor surrounding the Clan McPherson and the water on their land which is said to be "magical" and lately Fiona McPherson has been receiving countless marriage offers which she obviously turns down when all they want her for is "to enrich their clans" which she has no idea what that really means. The McPherson Clan is a small clan, but a strong one. Fiona became the Laird of the clan, when her husband passed away. She trains both men and women to fight and defend themselves. Now she is a strong leader, but she envies the love her brothers have for their wives and the children they have, knowing that will never happen for her. That she will live the rest of her life alone because of her promise and vow she made when her husband died to keep the clan their own.

There is a new development though, their sheep are being stolen, and with the only signs on who is responsible is the Clan McDunnah. So Fiona goes to confront their Laird....Caelen who claims he has no idea what she is talking about and that his clan isn't responsible. But Caelen is intrigued, because he knew Fiona years ago, and finds her lovely whether she is in a gown or her fighting gear.  Caelen is fascinated with Fiona, she is a strong leader, a good fighter and sexy as all get out and he only wants to get to know her more. But then the attacks start to increase, and when Fiona's best friend is killed in a raid, she is just about ready to go to war when evidence comes up that proves that Caelen and his clan are innocent and that someone else wants them to war with each other.

But a strong love starts to develop between Caelen and Fiona, but there is a problem....they can't be together unless one of them gives up being Laird. But as they search for the real villain behind the attacks, their love strengthens as they attempt to find a way to be together....

This was an amazing read and I had a blast with this forbidden romance. And boy this book was simply so hilarious. I love Suzan Tisdale's writing, because she can just make me laugh and the narrator brings out the emotion in just the right way. And boy she writes Highlander romances so well. What I really got a kick out of is Fiona because yeah she kicks ass. She is a strong fighter and a steady leader who loves her people. And it is heartbreaking at times to see how these attacks effect their clan. There is a moment in the story that really breaks your heart I really was curious on who was responsible, but the ending was simply perfect especially in seeing how Caelen and Fiona find a way to be together, and yeah Caelen is all alpha male in all the good ways of course. I love how wonderful he is with Fiona though, he is patient and understanding. The heat level in the book is low, and yet its very provoking at times. I love how well the chemistry is written despite the low level of heat in the story.

Want to hear a sample of this fabulous narrator...check it out below. This is a sample from Wee William's Woman, a book in one of Suzan Tisdale's series. Which we do see this characters in other books which is fun. :)

I'm generally a fan of the author's but this one dragged a bit and some of the twists were the kind that a clear conversation would have avoided. I am glad I picked up the 3 volume collection as books 1 and 2 end on cliff-hangers.

I loved this story so much! Fiona is such an amazing character. It was great to read about her and the on going issues with her clan. I was so happy to have all three parts together in one book. A great read!

Deep Connections

This last book in the series is about tying up the loose ends and completing the cycle of life. Each of the characters came into their own fullness. I enjoyed the entire series and this one most of all as it glued any missing pieces in place. Lovely saga.

3,5 stelline

Good story about a strong woman, and a man falling in love when he never thought he could again. It was a clean romance, which I didn’t realize going in. I was expecting a typical Scottish romance with a lusty clan chief. He was lusty, but the readers never experienced it.

I usually hate stories with dead wives or husbands, and this has both. But luckily their previous marriages were not great loves that made it hard for the MCs to compete against.

The narration was excellent. He did a fantastic job for both men and women and children. And his singing brought tears to my eyes. It was so good. Bravo, Brad Wills.

Excellent!

This book was entertaining, enjoyable, and to a great degree lighthearted. Her landscapes were beautiful, our castles were grand and our heroes were brave, including a particular female one. Read and enjoy! Again, thanks Susan

Such potential…. Too much head hopping and weird broken paragraphs, made it hard to read. Cool idea for a story tho.

This story moves much slower than the others in this series. It is ripe with insta-love and there are parts that sort of drag. Not bad, but not my favorite.

I truly loved the story of Fiona and Caelean from start to finish. To be loved like that would be a remarkable feat in those days of chauvinistic men.

Outstanding

I really loved this book! It has everything. It has a strong woman that feels her honor as strongly as any make chieftain, determine to keep her people strong and healthy. It has mystery and suspense to discover who is threatening their clan and it has a handsome guy that has finally opened his heart and wants her as his wife. It has love.
The struggle they deal with is woven into a story you will despair of not being able to finish all at one time. You won't want to see it end.

I really liked this book. I had never read anything of Suzan Tisdale before so was quite happy that this book was so good. This is the complete collection (3 novella's) of Fiona McPherson and Caelen McDunnah. Fiona has been widowed and left in as chief of the clan McPherson. There is a rumor that her land is magic and has some magic water and so the clan chiefs of the surrounding area all come around to offer marriage but all they want is her land. Not unusual for that time period but Fiona had made a promise or vow to never give up the reigns of the clan and if she remarries thats exactly what will happen so she decides to never re-marry. Caelen is the chief of his clan and he is not the most patient man and very gruff. When he gets to know Fiona he changes and falls in love, but cannot get Fiona to change her mind. There is a lot of suspense, and other stuff going on around them but it keeps your mind going to figure out what or who does want her and will do anything to get it. Highly recommend.

I love Caelen and Fiona's story

This is probably one of my most favorite books out of the entire series . I'm sure I say that every Suzan Tisdale book I read but Caelen is definitely my hero . I just love seeing this character progress throughout all of the previous books . You are left with the impression that he is a cold and ruthless man . But you discover that he is actually a tortured soul. Fiona is the chief of her own clan as well a a warrior with scars of her own. Together they heal each other's hearts. I love Brad Wills narration of the book. All the different voices he uses definitely makes this book come alive.
