This unforgettable story about the love of God has transformed thousands of lives.
This best selling allegorical story, skillfully written by June Strong, illustrates the tender concern of Heaven for mankind. Most of the major Adventist doctrines are woven in, along with a fascinating portrayal of the events preceding the return of Jesus. This popular sharing book in story form has been reprinted several times, and today its message is more timely than ever before.
Here's a short excerpt. . .
I am Jared, citizen of the universe, member of the Celestial Penmen. I wish to record one person's reaction to the sin environment. At random I chose this young mother of two. She's divorced, hurt, bitter, and is searching for the Prince, though she doesn't know it yet.
I call her Sunlight. Weeks pass. Fall shivers into winter, and Sunlight, with her new friend Sybil, has been studying the teachings of the Prince. The more they learn, the more excited they become.
Beyond this world of tragedy and hate is a hidden splendor, a realm of peace and glory. Behind the fabric of time and space is a universe of majestic beings that view our planet with unfathomable love. They wait for us. They lead us to the light.
Thousands of lives have been transformed by this unforgettable story--a story that opens new windows on the relentless love of God.
I knew what this book was (little more than a 7th Day Adventist tract) when I started reading it. The forced dialog as to the main character's amazing revelation that Saturday is the Sabbath is almost painful. I guess the author aspires to be a playwright but I doubt this book will make it to the stage. The story was actually okay through the first half of the book, then it takes off trying to justify ALL of the 7th Day Adventist beliefs. That's where I lost interest, and it became little more than propaganda. However, I suffered through to the bitter end in order to write this review. The best quote in the book comes from the respected Methodist theologian, John Wesley and think the author missed his point. It's just too obvious that the author wants to indoctrinate the reader into her dogmatic beliefs. Although there are some parts of the 7th Day Adventist doctrine that I can say make sense, their staunch belief that Sunday worship is the mark of the beast simply belittles what Christ did for everyone (GENTILE AND JEW) on the cross. I'd think with all the chaos in the Middle-East, it is the FRIDAY worshipers who they should fear will be those who persecute both SATURDAY AND SUNDAY worshipers with their freedom-crushing Sharia Law. Christ nailed the Old Testament Law to the cross. It's not Sunday or Saturday worship that will separate the faithful from the faithless. It's whether or not you can truly love your brother. For Americans it may be impossible to love those who hate us so, so much. After reading this I have a new found faith in the wisdom of our Founders and the freedom of religion. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear.
I found myself deeply moved in the plot and Biblical support. I felt like I was watching a movie. I admire the author's commitment to Bible truth, and admire the characters created in this plot, who were both realistic and believable. READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Project Sunlight by June Strong is about "a citizen of the universe"-an angel who is assigned to keep record of a young woman named Megan. As Jared uncovers amazing discoveries about her and her eager desire to fill the holes in her heart after getting a divorce and having two children, he is all the more anxious to introduce her to Jesus and the wonderful relationship they could share together. As Sunlight experiences hardships in her life, she learns to trust in Jesus, while befriending a woman named Sybil, her next door neighbor. As times goes on, they begin to meet frequently and read the Bible together to encourage one another as each goes through painful trails. But perhaps the most important lesson Sunlight learns is that even though things don't always go the way we plan, God is still in control and He still cares. In the end, Sunlight is introduced to the unfathomable love of God, thus finally being fulfilled.
I thought this book was just okay. Though it does have a great message, the book lost my interest about half way due to the delayed climax.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a deeper connection with God and searching for the unconditional love that only He can give.
A “escolhida” é Meg.
A beautiful story of redemption. I read this book multiple times as a youth and wish I could read it again. Unfortunately, I can't find it in my parents library and wonder if it got lost in their last move preparations. The story is narrated by an angel who is documenting the life of a human, Sunlight, during last time events. It will make you cry every time.
I read this book as a young teen and enjoyed it but now reading it as an adult I loved it. This is the kind of read that you either love or hate. I highly recommend this book regardless of your religious beliefs and just simply do it with an open heart.
Someone’s idea of how the end of the world may unfold, based on what we know from the Bible. but also following the very real journey of how relationships with God develop and grow.
l do have some critique towards such a complete imagining of the future because we do not really know what exactly will take place, which they do somewhat address in a footnote.
There is a bit of questions I have for how the author deals with Sybil in the end (we, as humans, see only in part what will take place and some things are still a mystery). Since the author decided to bring up this topic, I think she should have addressed it more thoroughly.
Overall, I did appreciate this book and its perspective , especially the last few pages, which are powerful. I would say read with a discerning mind and never base your beliefs on what any book says, but on what you can find from the Bible, the ultimate authority.

Goddamn, seeing this cover unlocked some deep anxiety. Thanks for ruining my childhood, SDA church. Sickening propaganda designed to terrorize children. Zero stars was unavailable.
One star because I don't go for this kind of speculation today, but I may have given 4 or 5 stars when I read this as a kid in the 80s (rounded to 2 stars). In this novel, June Strong exactly spells out the beliefs of the Adventist Church regarding righteousness, the Mark of the Beast and the end of the world. I haven't and won't read the Tim LeHaye books, but I reckon this is Left Behind Adventist style.
