This book had 13 reviews on Amazon when I came across it and had an overall rating of 4.8 stars. I had was eager to check it out because I love a good alien sci-fi romance. I'm sad to say I was disappointed. It did have a talking dog, and was offered as a kindleunlimited, so those were positives. However the writing style left much to be desired. It felt choppy and the plot was quite lame. Sorry, I hate writing negative reviews. Maybe this is just one of those books that other people will enjoy,

A bodyguard on a mission, Janaya doesn’t have time to bond with an Earthman in this delightful sci-fi romance.
Luke Morgan is a police officer that seeks a quiet life and the reader can’t help but be absolutely charmed by this romance as Luke and Janaya’s worlds are turned a little upside down. This well written, fast paced, smooth flowing plot delights readers with excitement and romance as the strong compelling characters charms readers with their story as their romance that turns a bit chaotic ...more

It was ....ok. As far as my cracky reads go, this has some interesting qualities, but where it falls down is in the interaction between the characters. I like smutty reads, but I need some chemistry and connection between the leads to make it work. There's also some mild humor, and I liked that the alien is the heroine, not the hero. Unfortunately, the chemistry was lacking and it made a short story drag, which is never good. I wouldn't rule out more from Ms. Munro, but this wasn't my cuppa tea. ...more

I was in the mood for something light and fluffy so I picked this one. I've been meaning to try this author's writing and I've had this one setting on the Kindle shelf for a while, so it was time.
I read only a few pages and realized it was not going to dig deep into any sci-fi world building, but was going to be just a fun screwball alien romance comedy when Janaya and her eccentric aunt crash land on earth in New Zealand. Cute story about two female aliens who are forced to land their ship in a field in New Zealand. Janaya is a bodyguard who has invited herself along on a trip with her Aunt Hinekiri to protect her from the Torgons who want to steal her star charts. When their ship develops mechanical problems they are forced to land. Unfortunately their less-than-stellar landing is witnessed by some of the locals. Then she manages to imprint on the first earthling she sees because she didn't have the proper inocu

Janaya and her Aunt Hinekari end up crash-landing on Earth. This is where they meet a gorgeous policeman called Luke. To say he is gobsmacked when he sees their spaceship is really saying something. Then there are the men in purple suits firing on them. A beautiful alien woman. A crazy aunt. A talking dog. What a wonderful read this story was. I thought it was great. I read this book as part of the Alien Encounters boxed set.

Just... weird. "Alien" barely registers here and the endless compulsion to fuck seemed the main point.
I quite liked the talking dog, however. ...more

Janaya desperately wants a Captain's promotion and marriage to Santana to please her Father. When she learns her beloved Aunt has Torgons chasing her to steal her space maps, she drops everything to travel with Hinekiri to Earth. They crash land, meet a talking dog, and a scrumptious cop, Luke Morgan. The rest of the book is a lot of fun as they try to keep everyone from finding the spacecraft, avoiding the Torgons, and avoiding a nosy reporter determined to get an interview with Luke. I enjoyed

This is my first book to read from
Ms. Munro, it is a fun fast paced read. I would say Ms. Munro has quite the imagination between White Skin-Hair-Eye Aliens and Talking Hungry Dogs too funny what a comedy.

Funny, sexy read! You can't go wrong getting it, I throughly enjoyed it! What happens when you try to do the right thing as a bodyguard and jump on ship with your crazy aunt? You crash land on earth that's what! Oh and you didn't take your inoculations before you left? That's a little more complicated, you might find yourself imprinted to one sexy lawman! Oh and let's not forget the talking dog. "Do ya have any food?" Yep, that's all Killer the alien dog talks about! You have got to read this ex

I read this book when it was called Talking Dogs, Aliens And Purple People Eaters (catching tile). A story of an alien and her niece crashing on earth while being chased by purple aliens who want her aunt's galaxy maps. Janaya (the niece is training as a Imperial Guard) when she sneak on board her aunt's ship in order to protect her. They land in New Zealand and meet up with a talking dog (only they could understand) and the local sheriff of a small town. Luke the sheriff and Janaya end up falli

Loved this story. Loved it when it was named "Talking Dogs, Aliens and Purple People Eaters". Janaya stows-away on her Aunt Hinekiri spaceship to watch over her. Hinekiri crash lands on Earth. Janaya meets Luke. HOT HOT HOT. Loved it the first time and loved rereading it again. Killer is hilarious. What a pain Santana was. Can't wait to read about Hinekiri and Richard. Reminder - if you like an author check their author page to see if they have books that you've missed thinking you have them all

Enjoyed this alien story, Killer (the dog) is hilarious! Luke & Janaya (aka kissing cousins) quickly "bond" to form not only a personal relationship but partner in getting rid on the bad aliens as quickly as possible & keeping the community calm since Mrs. Bates is very determined to prove that she saw the UFO land. Janaya has little confidence in/control of her abilities but she's an excellent bodyguard & Luke, the lawman, can't seem to keep his hands off her ....

I found Janaya (Alien Encounter Book 1, funny, erotic, and action-packed. It was a fast read for me. It was well-written. I thought the perpetually hungry talking dog was hilarious.
I guess that I prefer Shelley's shifter romances more than her alien ones, but I enjoyed this book, too.
I'll have to taste some of her other genres to see which one I like the best.
