I knew I needed this book. I just didn't know how much. I cried and grieved at the years I've lost being such an angry, controlling person. The Lord spoke to me over and over through Jackie's words. I will keep this book and go over everything I underlined and starred!

This book is one of the best books I have ever read about the subject on controlling women. I am guilty of trying to control everything. Earlier in my marriage, I controlled everything and if it didn't go my way, I found ways to pout . I wanted to make sure everyone knew I was unhappy unless I got my way. I was very overprotective of my children as they grew up . My excuse was that I wanted to protect them, but really I was controlling them while leaving little room for them to grow and become independent .

I loved the author's description od the very first women who "thought she was smarter than God." Thanks Eve for thinking you knew better than God. It is funny how we think once we get married we will be able to change our spouse. "Controlling women think they are responsible to change people who are not going in the right direction." What a funny statement that is. Controlling women thinking they know best and should direct others to the right way to go. How many of us are guilty of controlling and proudly wearing our badge?

What a powerful book that opens your eyes to what being controlling can do to yourself. We can find ourselves anxious, angry , fearful, insecure and have low self-esteem and turn to controlling others to overcome these issues. This book has hit home for me and I saw myself doing many of the things she talked about without realizing I was self destructing . One of the things she talks about in the book is a struggle I have had for many years. I have dealt with anxiety attacks for so long that it can sometimes become overwhelming. But then I read this verse , "Be still and know I am God." (Ps 46:10) I have read that scripture many times but not really thought about it until I started reading this book. All I need to do is give God control and trust Him.

We are all a work in progress and work on our imperfections everyday. The good news is that God is in control. We need to give that control back to Him and find peace and confort in knowing that if we don't get something done or it doesn't go the right way, that the world won't end. "The more secure a woman is, the less likely she will need to be in control."

I highly recommend this book to every woman to feel secure in theirselves and let God be in control. He has this. He doesn't need our help and we don't need to get in His way. At the end of each chapter are discussion questions that I would encourage readers to use as you begin to heal from being a controlling woman.

I received a copy of this amazing book from The BookClub NetWork for an honest review.

Kendall says we women have it in our DNA to be controlling. We want to take over God's job. She'd rather we surrender to God our attempts to run the universe, or at least our part of it. She encourages us to rest from our vain aspirations.

This book hit hard. She covers so many areas we women need to work on. Kendall helps us understand where the desire to be a junior God comes from. She reveals our self-deceptions. She helps us identify it's fuel. She helps us with the temptation to be a “yes” person, trying to do it all. She shows how we want to be omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. She shows how the push for excellence in all we do can be a problem, as is trying to be the quintessential peacemaker. She identifies the characteristics of wanting to be God's personal assistant. She helps us build confidence in God's sovereignty. She identifies the fatigue of a lifetime of trying to be in control. She gives steps a recovering control freak can take.

This is a great book. Kendall nails the issue. I am impressed with all of the aspects of being controlling she has covered, from walking on egg shells to being a nag. There were some surprises in the book too. She explains how working to avoid pain by trying to control the universe actually has a great cost emotionally and spiritually and reveals a lack of faith in a sovereign God. And this on worrying about the future, “Grace is not available for the things that might happen.” (59) I also learned about Christian blackmail and being a spiritual paramedic.

Kendall herself is a recovering control freak. She has great stories from her own experience to illustrate her principles. She includes good teaching from the Bible too.

If you have an exalted sense of responsibility, read this book. If you think you could do a better job of running the universe than God, read this book. If you have delusions of personal sovereignty, read this book. If you think you have your life so together you don't need to read this book, read this book. There are discussion questions at the end of each chapter so it would be a good book for a group study.

I received a complimentary copy of this book through The Book Club Network for the purpose of an independent and honest review.

This book spoke to me so much that I plan to share it with every woman who is tired and afraid of failure. I am one of those women. I have always had to be in control. I felt that if I didn't do it it would not get done. After reading this amazing and enlightening book I know that I need to surrender my Jr God badge. We as women try and control everything and everyone in an uncontrollable world. I know I have felt the rug be pulled out from under me a lot in the past 8 years. But we have to realize we are not in charge, God is and we need to give up our badges.
Yes, I will say it just like the author, I am a control freak. I have to have order and do not like change. I used to be better about this but as I age it seems to get worse along with my anxiety. It's no wonder I am always tired. After reading this I realized that I can't change people, even those I love only God can change a person.
We as Christian's also need to be aware that even though we are close to him doesn't make us immune to disappointment or loss. I love the example the author gives of John the Baptist.
In a few of the chapters she gives us 4 things commonly feared by Controlling women:
The fear of What if?
The fear of Intimacy
Fear of Disappointing people
The fear of failure
Wow, this hit home! We must realize that God knows we are not perfect and he forgives our failures.
Another great point is to know its ok to say NO. This is the one word I have the most trouble with in my life. I want to do it all. As the author states we all try and be Wonder Woman for everyone. But what we don't realize is that we are bringing ourselves down and building resentment. This is when we need to give it to God instead of 911 mom first.
Thank you so much for this book. It truly has changed my life. Another great part of this book was the discussion questions at the end of each chapter.
Thank you and God Bless

Surrender Your Junior God Badge.........Every Woman's Battle with Control by award winning author Jackie Kendall (Lady in Waiting) is a book for women by a wise woman. She speaks to women who are overcome with the controlling of circumstances, situations, and people for one reason or another. It is a help book to offer solutions and advice on control issues. It even addresses the cause of some of the issues.

This book asked if we are TIRED? Well, yes. The author was speaking to me. In fact, my toes hurt from where she has stepped on them. (LOL). Yes, I am tired. I am Tired of wanting to control the lives of my loved ones. I am Irritated by things I blame myself for that are really not my responsibility. I Resent my husband telling me I am nagging him when I am just reminding him to take his medicine. The stress is Exhausting and leaves me Drained. I am T.I.R.E.D. This author gets me and she gets women.

She writes about trusting God. He is the One in control of all things. We need to let Him be in control and not try to take that away from Him or show a lack of faith by taking matters into our hands. Author Kendall gives practical advice and tips in this compelling women's book. You will want a highlighter when you read it and then will want to discuss some of it with your friends.

Each of us women are not Wonder Woman, just fearfully and wonderfully made. God knows us, our failures and flaws, but He loves us unconditionally. We need to reach out to Him in prayer, scoot over and let Him drive, and let His peace wash over us. Give Him the control.

I rated this a 5 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to any woman. It would make an excellent small group study. I received a copy of this book from The Book Club Network for my honest review.

Do you the tendency to want to control things? Or maybe you'll just be upfront and admit you're a "control freak", but that is leaving you burnt out, exhausted and frustrated because you're running around trying to control the uncontrollable. Does this sound like you? Or maybe there is one area in your life that you like to control, and that place is okay to control because it's just one place, right? WRONG! Being controlling and controlling areas of your life is a sin, and quite honestly, the largest God of the universe doesn't need your help to run the world.

Bestselling author, Jackie Kendall teaches in "Surrender you Jr. God Badge" how to find freedom in dealing with control. God is in control, and you can experience peace on earth. She lays out the ground work about why one might experience control due to anxiety, fear, being controlled by other women, etc. She talks about idolatry, which I thought was a great chapter. She also talks about breaking the curse of control and how you can go about breaking the curse of control. This book gives practical advice, it helps you discover the root of control, but also why it's easy to fall into the trap of control in our society. This book is good for all women. I really enjoyed it.

I honestly didn’t think I really needed this book. I don’t consider myself a control freak.
But after reading this I realize I am in several areas I never even knew I was trying to control. I think everyone has a bit of control issues at times in their lives.
Jackie does a great job showing the reader how when we try to control we aren’t trusting God. That isn’t a place we want to be.
I love this sentences from p. 60: “God’s grace is available for time of need only, not for the tormented hypothetical time of need. God’s grace is available and sufficient for today.”
Oh my, I definitely make up a lot of hypothetical times of need and this is not okay. God’s grace is all we need for today.
Whether you think you try to control things or not this is book you might want to pick up and get some truth spoken into you.

Surrender Your Junior God Badge by Jackie Kendall was a very engaging read. I have read her before, and I have always found her honesty refreshing, and this book was no different. This book is for every woman, controlling or ‘not’ (because I’m sure we’ve all struggled with control at one point or another), old, young, single and married women alike (our future families will thank us later, I’m sure- and our present households will no doubt benefit as well). So if you feel tired, read this book. If you feel TIRED, read this book. And if you are a daughter of Eve, read this book. Just read it. I received a copy for an honest review from The Book Club Network, Inc. and the opinions are my own.

There's a reason I named my firstborn after this author. She is a godly woman you can look up to and she makes us want to not only be like her but to deepen our relationship with Jesus. She isn't perfect by any means and I think that's what we LOVE about her and her writing. She shares her faults and failures as well as her triumphs by God's grace so authentically. This is a book I will not only read again and again but one I will want to pass on to every woman I know. I only wish she had written it sooner! Start reading it today!!!!!
