Lots of helpful info for people who know very little about NOLA. I agreed with all recommendations except one: Acme Oyster House is in no way a family friendly joint, maybe at lunch but definitely not at dinner. There was nothing resembling a kid's menu and only one option most kids would touch on the regular menu. It was a totally loud, crowded bar scene as well. It's not the end of the world, but we wasted a vacation meal on this place thanks to Fodor's advice. Our oysters and po boy were yummy but our kids were not happy at all.

Spent the last week of 2015 visiting my BFF who's living in NOLA for work. This guide was perfect for my needs. Lots of interesting trivia and tidbits as well as solid recommendations and information like schedules and phone numbers. The maps were helpful, too.
My personal recommendation is that you always get the "day pass" when riding the trolley. It's completely worth the $3 and gives you 24 hours access to transportation.

My wife got this one before our trip. Read through the basics of things to do in New Orleans proper. Covered most of the restaurants that we stopped at. Had some good recommendations to pursue further on line. It also has options for outside of New Orleans proper, which were of no use to us, but I guess it is a small subject without that kind of thing.

Good overview to give you an idea of what to expect and do if you visit New Orleans. Covers popular locations, activities, festivals, restaurants, hotels, live music, parks... even a few activities in the rest of Louisiana. I havent been there before but feel slightly more knowledgeable now.

Very helpful for all the ins and outs of each section on NOLA. Hopefully will serve me well on my trip.

Used this guidebook in conjunction with other guidebooks and the web. Of all the books, this one provided the most useful information on dinning and lodging. Some attractions were not listed in the guide book. I also tried to use the maps in the book and they were completely useless, as they are just black dots and a few major cross streets. I would say all in all that Fodor's was a far superior guide book to the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide for New Orleans.
