Lola’s top priority in life has always been her tattoo parlor, Skin Deep and for years all she has wanted was for it to succeed. But when two of her employees decide to venture to bigger cities for a change of pace she is devastated and finding replacements proves to be both difficult and stressful. When she does hire River Hawthorne she knows that there is something different about him and whatever it is, she finds it attractive. What she doesn't know is what River is about to do to her… Or just how much time she’ll spend on her knees for him.
When I started Skin Deep I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. This is the first Daddy Dom/babygirl BDSM relationship read for me, and I must say that I really enjoyed it. It did take me a while to wrap my head around this relationship but once I did I totally loved this book.
Trista’s writing style was flawless and the character chemistry was smoking hot.
Lola owns a top tattoo parlor in Ohio and is faced with having to replace 2 key employees when they both have the chances to go work for other parlors in NYC and LA. while looking for replacement none of the applicants seem to fit. That is until she meets River Hawthorne. River Hawthorne is a man who knows what he wants and will go after it and what he wants is Lola. When Lola first meets River she know there is something different about him but can’t figure out what is. That is until he reveals that he is a Daddy Dom. What is a daddy Dom you ask? While he is the type of dom who is into taking care of his sub or babygirl. This is just what Lola needs. Especially after the childhood she went through.
So if you are looking for a hot BDSM read to keep you warm on these cold winter nights then you need to check out Skin Deep. Hot tattooed men (check) Hot sex scenes (check) Total hot dom (check) A strong plot (check)
This book will have you sweating, laughing and crying. Total MUST READ!
First, if you love tats and alpha men.. You will love this story!
Both characters have a past and fit perfectly together. You will fall in love with both of them and laugh/ cry with them. But there are also some twists you didn't expect and pain too...
Trust me, if you're looking for a sexy tattoo read you need to grab Skin Deep!
First book I ever read by this author. And honestly first book I've read about people working in a tattoo shop. I have to admit I liked the storyline. there were some twists and turns that i did not expect. but the book was seriously hot. The is one thing I didn't like. I know most BDSM books have them call the dude sir or master, which is fine. Even in this book she calls him Daddy. Ok... so I guess to each is own but I feel it was used too much. Other than that I loved the characters and I liked the romance between River and Lola. Great Job Trista and can't wait to read some more of your books.
This book hooked me from the start I had to read it straight through the trust and feelings between River and Lola was amazing the past threatened their relationship but I think they came out stronger this book is worth reading I'm an avid reader and I love a story to take me out of myself and to keep me reading and this one did I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
So this was my first excursion into a BDSM novel and let me say I was hooked from the beginning! It is just the right mix of romance, passion, and naughty, and I felt myself easing into the story just as Lola eased into the lifestyle! River is exquisitely yummy and I would love to meet him in another life. Trista is an amazing writer. You can really feel the emotional and physical connection between River and Lola. I loved the compassion and care, (and yes, dominance) that River exudes, and Lola’s vulnerability and commitment to him as well as her unfailing desire to help a friend in need. She is fierce and powerful in her own way. There are definitely some hot scenes in this book (in more ways than one!), heart-wrenching moments, and a good sprinkling of humor among friends. I read it in one sitting. I’ve read it two more times since then, and love it more each time.
**UPDATE 12/2017** Just wanted to add that I’ve since read this book again and it gets better and better each time! I seriously love these characters and the world building that Trista writes for them. This is one of my favorite books read in 2017, which slightly surprises me as I reflect on it because I’ve never read a BDSM novel before this. Check it out! You will not regret it!
Lola and River's story is truly amazing. I think this may be a better description of the BDSM world than Fifty Shades of Grey. I enjoyed every word in every chapter. keeps you wanting more.
Oh, I absolutely adored this one! Some DD/lg stories give me the heebie jeebies, but this one was perfect (especially when Lola caught herself being a brat and when River laughed at the tantrum she was throwing). I enjoyed getting to know Lola and loved that she had such a big heart. I also liked that she was so open-minded and found it completely hilarious when she couldn't understand why she liked being so dependent and submissive to River. And OMG, River!! I loved his patience. I liked the fact that he was willing to take baby steps, so to speak. I loved his aftercare. I've read quite a few books where aftercare wasn't a priority for the Dom, but River delivered each and every time and I absolutely swooned. I liked Kade's character, but I felt like Arch and Das weren't given enough detail, so hopefully there are follow up books for them. The one thing I didn't like about the book was the repetitiveness of some of the phases. It got to be a bit annoying after a while.
Overall, I would recommend this to others and although this was my first book from this author, I look forward to more from her.
I'm somewhere between 3 and 4 stars on this one. It had serious time line issues in the first two chapters involving Lola's work commitments and the transition between scenes wasn't always very smooth. However the big plus, for me, was how sensitively and well the author portrayed the growing DD/lg relationship. In the vanilla world these relationships can seem very controlling. I loved how there were plenty of examples of how Lola really had the ultimate control and how committed River was to taking care of all her needs.
The majority of the book is about entering a BDSM relationship, with a good sub-plot involving a work colleague. There are some pretty big hints dropped fairly early on in the book, resulting in a 'big reveal' that causes some major angst and heartbreak. The emotion was really well portrayed here but things were resolved almost a little too easily.
There is another bombshell dropped, towards the end of the book. It helped tie up some ends and bring a feeling of resolution but it also felt a little rushed. I think the author could have dropped some of what felt like 'filler' near the start of the book and instead developed this element of the story line a little more.
That said this is still a very good read, it has some nice steamy moments but is actually pretty gentle in tone. Whilst it didn't blow me away I did enjoy it and would read more work by this author.
What a thrill and easy read from an amazing storyteller!!
Lola has been on her own ever since she left her home vowing to make something of herself. River is coming back home, the place he's missed ever since he left his demons behind. Skin Deep has been Lola's creation, her baby per se; a tattoo shop that allows even the un-hireable with amazing drawing talents to find a drama free environment and showcase their abilities. When two of her employees and friends leave for bigger opportunities, Lola has no choice but to hire someone with just the right skills to add to her own, and River happens to have the right skills. The first time they meet, the chemistry is undeniable and tangible, but River hides a secret, one that might scare Lola, possibly even leaving her disgusted with him.
Reading for the first time Trista Jaszczak, I have to admit that i was not disappointed - I kept coming back for more until the next thing I knew, it was all over. A great plot, dripping with sexiness and especially, the thrill of being able to see myself in the story. This is a standalone novel and makes me wonder what other titles are under this author's name so I can get my hands on them and immerse myself in the storylines.
**Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. Read and reviewed by Kathleen for Alpha Book Club**
Scorching hot, crazy sexy, yet still full of sweetness and love Skin Deep will have you dying for more! Fiercely independent Lola is the owner of Skin Deep tattoo parlor. With two of her employees now gone she desperately needs a new artist with real talent. When she finds that in River she has no idea the depth of who he really is. Instant attraction between them has the sparks between them she learns there's much more about River than meets the eye and discovers a part of herself that she never really knew.
River *sigh* my River. That man is ALL male and every bit an alpha. Possessive and bossy in the BEST ways he will have you melting with how loving he is with his woman. I am completely guilty of loving this DD. With just an edge of taboo (I personally don't find two consenting adults who are not harming each other or others to be taboo, though I realize some will disagree, so I'll say an edge) that makes for the perfect amount of spiciness this book keeps you completely hooked from start to finish. This isn't a dark fantasy about a DD, skin deep is a sweet, realistic, true romance between Lola and River and I loved every second!
From Lola's sass to River's broody alpha male ways this book checks every box for perfection.
Lola is a tattoo shop owner and River is an artist she hires after two of her artists move out of state for other jobs. They are attracted to each other from the very beginning but River is afraid that he will scare Lola with his lifestyle. He's a Daddy Dom who isn't really looking for a baby girl but Lola just hits that chord with him and it's on from that point. I loved watching the way that their relationship progressed even though some of the aspects of the lifestyle were hard for Lola to comprehend.
I really liked the storyline of this book. I like how everything played out with the characters and how it all tied together. That's about all I can say without giving away major spoilers. Now, on to my reasoning for the 4 star review.......The first incident with Lola and River didn't seem real to me. I seriously thought it was going to turn out to be some kind of daydream sequence but nope. LOL There were a couple of incidents/scenes in the book that just didn't seem realistic to me but it didn't take away from the rest of the book enough that I lost my enjoyment of the story.
I must say, I enjoyed ever moment of this book, even though the past of some of the characters broke my heart and I am not very familiar with BDSM. Lola is the owner of Skin Deep, a tattoo parlor, and after two of her artists leave for new job offers in other states, she hires River, a friend of a friend, after looking through a ton of applicants. The very first moment they meet there is a connection between them, so much, that they can't even attempt to only be co-worker and boss.
We quickly learn, River has a secret when it comes to having a relationship, and he is afraid it will send Lola running. He is all about BDSM, and is a Daddy Dom. To his surprise Lola is very willing to learn the lifestyle and become his baby girl sub. But when Kade, her best friend and ex-artist, left after having kissed her and telling her he had feelings for her, returns from NY because he was having issues, he is quite clear he is ready to have Lola for himself.
Will Lola choose River or Kade? Can everything work out with who she chooses, or will there be trouble that is beyond repair? Guess you'll have to read and find out.
Having being a beta reader for this book was one of the best things ever! I absolutely ADORED River and Lola and the relationship they shared.
This being the first time I read a BDSM book with a daddy dom, I was surprised that I enjoyed the book as much as I did, in fact so much, I read the unedited copy thrice and the edited one once already!
Trista's writing in this book is flawless and she has penned down the working of an ACTUAL BDSM relationship unlike some who disguise abuse as BDSM. *cough* *cough*
Having written this book with the help of a dom and a sub, Trista also put her heart and soul into SD and it is so amazingly written, I can't even tell you!
The romance is beautiful, the story is amazing and the sex, oh my god the sexy is effin HOT. *sound of phone sizzling*
Tris, you HANDS DOWN get 10/5 stars from me!
I love SD and I love River and Lola even more - not more than you, but I love them a lot!!
P.S River Hawthorne is MINE. MINE. I have a deal with Tris and it's a contract - I kid you not.
Skin Deep is an amazingly well-written version of a budding BDSM DD/bg relationship.
Lola has been on her own since she turned 18, and never looked back or let anyone or anything hold her back from what she wanted. When two out of four of her tattoo artists move on to bigger opportunities, she is forced to look for someone to pick up the slack.
River, has worked at all the bigger shops but wants to come home to Cincinnati, OH to start planting roots.
The author did an amazing job researching to make sure that the roles of the Daddy Dominant and baby girl submissive were believable and lifestyle correct. Lola, being untrained, does seem to take to the lifestyle fast, but this is in no way unheard of within the lifestyle. River and Lola have a few ugly bumps in their road to happiness that lead to more bumps and then a HUGE show-stopping twist! (I won't tell you because it's SO much better to read it than to be told. :P ) This book will be releasing July 31, 2015, and I recommend it to A/all my kinky BDSM Erotica loving friends!
I was surprised by how much I loved this book. This story was filled with humor, sexy spice and an unexpected twist that I even said WHAT?? out loud while reading it. Lola owns a tattoo shop and is looking for new tattoo artists to hire when her two closest friends leave for other jobs. She never imagines that hiring River is going to change her life in more ways than one. River is a tattoo artist and a daddy dominate. He is instantly attracted to Lola and they begin a new relationship that fulfills both their needs. Sounds great until an old friend tries to jeopardize their new found connection and an unbelievable secret is revealed. This was such a great book and the characters of Lola and River were genuine and a joy to read. Their relationship was unique but it was well written and explained in an easy to understand way. It was a different take on a romance but it was full of love none the less. I loved this story and recommend it to everyone.
Growing up Lola's mother was the worst of them, she did so many things to her, so she learn no to trust people.
River knew what having a great dad felt like, but when his dad dies and his mom marries again he learn what pain and humiliation was. he comes recommended from NY to work in Lola's tattoo shop and as soon as this two saw each other passion and desire ignite. River because of his upbringing needs the domination in his life.
Will an independent Lola submit to Daddy dom River? Will this two be able to love for the first time?
The story is a great one, with some twists that I will not spoil. You will love this great book by Trista Jaszczak. A must read.
Lola owns a tattoo parlor and after two of her artists leave she hires River. From the very first moment they meet there is a sizzling chemistry between them. River has a secret and is afraid that it will send Lola running away from him. He's a Daddy Dom and is drawn to the little girl he recognizes in her. When they do get together it is scorching hot. I mean get out the fan and ice water hot. I loved watching Lola learning about the lifestyle and letting her girl out. And holy hell...River is all kinds of delicious. I absolutely loved their story.
This was one of my first BDSM books. Also my my first DD/LG book. It quickly became my favorite.
This is a great portrayal of how this type of relationship is built. It also has a great storyline to the book.
River is yummy strong alpha male. He's not afraid to show that softer side which I absolutely loved. Lola is a very strong woman but isn't afraid to something new. Together they are an amazing couple.
Trista always delivers with her books. I have never been disappointed with her books. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Lola and Rivers story is amazing! I think it brings the whole BDSM thing into light as it should be! The pleasure pain sexual connection along with the connection of a deeper bond is explained so well in this story! Lola had no idea what she was getting into, but had an open mind and loved the things that she was feeling and experiencing! On the other hand River felt the attraction and the want to be with Lola from the beginning and the love that comes from their story is amazing!
