This is an exceptional book with the very rare quality of getting more relevant as time goes on. As a science fiction version of an extreme case of the Berlin wall this was an excellent book when it came out. Now it serves as a historical reminder of that past and in addition it brilliantly predicts the changes in our "western" behaviour.

Wieder ein sehr schönes Buch in der Herbert W. Franke Werksausgabe des p.machinery Verlags. Die Hardcoverausgabe kommt mit Lesebändchen und drei(!) ausklappbaren Bildern von Thomas Franke. Zusätzlich zum Roman enthält das Buch einen Text von Thomas Franke, in dem er Erlebnisse aus der DDR ("der linksmauerischen Welt") in einem etwas übertrieben verschnörkelten Stil schildert, sowie Auszüge aus einer Bachelorarbeit über "Kybernetik in der literarischen Science Fiction". Докато четях книгата непрекъснато си мислех, как ако това е първата фантастика, която някой чете, то този човек никога не би се запалил по фантастиката като жанр. Идеите бяха хубави, но за съжаление изпълнението не беше особено добро. Цялата история беше прекалено хаотична за моя вкус.

"There is no scientific basis for ideology." The main character states it and perhaps our world would be better if this idea was taught in schools.

Herbert W. Franke is an Austrian scientist and writer. He is considered one of the most important science fiction authors in the German language. He is also active in the fields of future research, speleology as well as computer graphics and digital art.
