I'd never felt more connected to a man than after our romp on his kitchen island, only a few days ago. With his sudden incapacity to even function, I felt the loss of him. Everywhere. My heart ached for Perkins Vale in a way I was trying to deny. While I lay next to him each night, he tossed in his drugged fog, and I traced the tattoo on his arm. It was thick and dark. The links of the chain were intricate and detailed with smaller designs. I let my fingers run over the outline of the large shield covering his heart. It was also detailed with a bright red cross and a dull white background. Outlined in black. I wondered if he placed it there to protect his heart. I'd worn a figurative shield over mine for so long, I almost didn't remember I had one. But when Perkins Vale told me he loved me, I cracked. When he told me he defended me because he loved me, I crumbled more. When he told me in his feverish haze, before I got Marie, that I was the love of his life, the chunks of protection fell away...
I know, I know. It's long and it's not really even a quote, but to me it's just so profound that even if you decide not to read The Quest of Perkins Vale, which I can't even imagine. At least you'll have that part of the story.
So once again, I not an expert on the Legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, but L.B. Dunbar has woven a tale combining parts of the legend with parts of her own imagination and spun it into a story I have not been able to put down. Not to mention my impatience to learn what becomes of Arturo and the rest of the band.
If you haven't had the chance to read the first two books in the Legendary Rock Stars series one click now. Really, you need to know the whole story to appreciate what's going on in Perkin's book.
If you read The Legend of Arturo King, you know the end of Arturo's book is kind of where Perkin's book begins. The motorcycle chase that ends the first book is the reason for Perkin's story. But really, Perkins story started way before that night.
Hollister SanGrael is the reason for Perkin's story. She's actually the reason for Perkin's existence. He's been searching for her since meeting her in the woods of Lake Avalon as a teenager. In their two meetings, somehow Perkins Vale falls completely in love with this girl even before knowing her name. Now that he has her with him, he doesn't plan on ever letting her go again. It is in fact his "quest" to keep Hollister safe.
Perkins and Hollister's story began to be weaved as teenagers. Their first meeting is a sort of fight between the two. The second time they meet is when Perkins promises to save Hollister. The two exchange something. Something that plays an important part in both of their stories.
Hollister has a plan that doesn't involve allowing Perkins to get close to her. Even though she allows him to "rescue" her that first night. No one is really sure who was following Perkins and Arturo on the motorcycles, but one thing's for certain. Someone is after Hollister and you'll have to read to find out who that someone is. At the beginning of our story, Hollister doesn't think Perkins is the boy she met in the woods all those years ago.
Hollister seems to have something that two very different men want. One of these men (ok, really both) have taken her innocence from her. Even though she got away from both of them, they're clearly not done with her. But then again, they haven't met the very determined Perkins Vale. Remember, it's his mission to keep Hollister safe for the rest of her life.
Now let me explain something. I started this series completely loving Arturo King. And while I still love him, OMG...Perkins Vale (well really L.B. Dunbar) has made me fall ridiculously in love with a fictional character. Not that that's anything new for me, but I read and swooned over everything Perkins Vale did.
His love for Hollister is so pure and yet when they're together Perkins is deliciously naughty. For someone so inexperienced, he absolutely knows how to work a woman's body.
All I wanted to do was stare into those chocolate brown eyes and run my fingers through his short dark hair. Reading about his body wrapped protectively around Hollister made me melt into a puddle.
Something I especially enjoy is how L.B. Dunbar includes all the Night's stories into each book throughout the series. Even though this book is mostly Perkins and Hollister's story, Lansing, Arturo and of course Tristan Lyons find their way in and you learn more about them.
Finally, I love the language L.B. uses. It just flows beautifully and Perkins....ahhhhh....the things he says to Hollister are just poetic. Yes I love Perkins Vale. He is stuck in my brain and I'm telling you he should be stuck in yours too!!
Read The Quest of Perkins Vale!! I mean read books one and two in the series first, but really one click Perkins. He is just perfection and the story is cool because it's based on something you probably learned in high school. It just has an edgy, rocker twist to it.
A four lip smack review for The Quest of Perkins Vale. Can't wait for Tristan's story!!!
Perkins Vale's quest began when he was 13 years old and made a promise to a grey eyed girl that he would come back for her...save her...claim her as his.
For 12 years, Perkins' search seemed hopeless, and most people in his situation would probably give up the search and live his life for himself not someone he may or may not ever see again.
But that's not the man Perkins Vale is; he's a man of honor, loyalty and faithfulness, and he more than proves he has these attributes when he finally finds, Hollister SanGrael, the girl who has held his heart and body all of these years, and goes out of his way to prove to her that she is someone to be treasured and love, not someone who should be taken from or abused like the men of her past have done.
Perkins Vale is the kind of knight that I would like to be rescued by...he's pure of heart, comforting and caring...he's someone who understands what it's like to be on the outside and treated poorly for physical attributes or personality traits that he has no control over.
Hollister is Perkin's Holy Grail, and he will protect her and cherish her regardless of how long it takes to make her his.
Hollister absolutely needs saving, but she is also a strong and resourceful woman who fights for and gives compassion to those who need it. Her past is filled with people who took advantage of her innocence and forced her be someone she never wanted to be - someone who is afraid...closed off from love...tainted by others' evil deeds. I completely understand her hesitancy when it comes to letting Perkins into her life and allowing him to truly see her - scars and all. At first, Hollister thinks Perkins is just like the others, but quickly, she sees him for who he is and realizes he has come to save her and stay true to the promise he made her all those years ago.
Like most quests, Perkins has many obstacles to overcome. He needs to prove himself and remain the man he's strived to be regardless of the doubt, fear, and heartache he experiences along the way.
I absolutely loved The Quest of Perkins Vale! He is a true knight of the Round Table, and L.B. Dunbar does a fantastic job of creating him in the image of Percival. He is my favorite band member, which is hard for me to say because I adored Arturo. There's just something about Perkins' purity despite what he does for a living; he gave his heart away a long time ago and he holds true to that vow. I also love that despite Perkins' naiveté in terms of sex, he definitely knows his way around a woman's body, and boy is the man swoonworthy. His lyrical words may sound flat or untrue coming from any other man, but because they're Perkins', they simply show his honesty and his faithfulness.
Arturo's disappearance is still very much a part of Perkins' story, which is good because it allows readers further insight into the mystery that continues to unfold. I'm still unsure how all of that is going to play out, knowing everything that has happened so far, but I will be eager to see what does occur after readers get Tristan's story. I have a feeling it's going to be quite a bit different than Perkins', which is what keeps L.B. Dunbar's Legendary Rock Stars series a must read!

1. a search or pursuit made in order to find or obtain something: a quest for uranium mines; a quest for knowledge. 2. Medieval Romance. an adventurous expedition undertaken by a knight or knights to secure or achieve something: the quest of the Holy Grail.
Who knew that a chance meeting could change your life forever.
Perkin Vale is the sexy, quiet drummer of The Nights. Said to be the “Hands- free lover”, Perkins makes women fall to their knees just by being in their presence. He doesn’t go through women like Lansing or Tristan. Perkins is a man on a mission, a quest, to find the one woman who slipped from his grasp twelve years ago. Because of this mission, Perkins hasn’t had many lovers. In fact, he hasn’t had any. How much longer can Perkins go on saving himself for this mysterious woman from his past.
Just when we think Perkins might be giving up, the night that should be one of the worst of his band’s life, actually becomes one of the best of his. The woman he has been searching for is found, but will she share Perk’s feelings, or will his quest be all for nothing?
I have been patiently waiting for Perk’s story since I saw LB’s original thoughts for her characters. The small glimpse’s that I got on him in both Arturo and Lansing’s book left me wanting more. Once again, Lady Dunbar did NOT disappoint. There is just something about Perkins that draws you to him and makes you want to do bad things, very bad things; but in a good way. There aren’t many men who would hold true to a promise made to a girl over a decade ago, let alone save themselves for said girl.
When I first met Perkins I knew there was something special about him. The way he spoke, his social awkwardness and his calming presence, made me love him instantly. I wanted to be in Hollister’s shoes and have the loving attentions of one Perkins Vale. But when we get a glimpse into Holli’s past, we understand why she is the way she is and her hesitance to be with Perkins. I love the way this book is laid out and how it follows not only Perk’s quest but Holli’s personal quest for reinvention.
For me, this book was so much more than the hot sex and alpha maleness of Perkins (who knew?). It was a story of a man who never gave up and stood by his word to protect and return to the one woman who stole his heart so many years ago. Although the road wasn’t a straight shot, Perkins and Hollister engage on this quest together and each come to their own conclusions. Will Perkins get what he has searched for all these years?
Will Hollister be drawn be the demons of her past or will the “Night” in shining armor truly win her heart?
I don’t want to give it away. You need to find out for yourself and I promise you will not be disappointed.

Perkins Vale, the drummer of the rock band The Nights, has been on a lifelong quest to find the girl from his youth, Hollister SanGrael. His story begins on the night of the charity concert when he races away with Hollister on the back of his motorcycle. Hollister has had a difficult life and even though her innocence was taken from her, she experiences love for the first time with Perkins. This is another outstanding story in the Legendary Rock Stars series. I like how the stories are written, retelling the events after Arturo's accident from the other band members point of view. Perkins is such a sweet, amazing guy. His past and how he became a member of the band is told through a series of flashbacks. Arturo makes a couple of interesting appearances but what happened to him is still a mystery. This is one of those must read books for rock star fans. I really enjoyed this story and I just can't wait for the next one!! (received an ARC for review)
I have just one word to describe L.B. Dunbar’s newest book in the series…PHENOMENAL!!!! When I finished the first book about Arturo, I couldn’t wait for Lansing’s book. When I knew Perkins was going to be next, I was even more excited! To me, he is the most intriguing of the guys in the band, and now he is my favorite!
Perkins is the shy drummer of the band. He has been on a lifelong quest to find the girl he met years ago. He has saved himself, yes he is a virgin, because he knows that she is his fate, his soulmate. On the night of a charity fundraiser, he sees her again after all of these years. But, Hollister is very different than the fantasy girl he encountered before. Life hasn’t been as kind to her as it has to Perkins. In fact, she has had to endure things no woman should ever have to endure. So, Perkins has to come to accept Hollister’s reality and not the fantasy he has built up in his mind. And, Dunbar’s title is spot on. It is truly a quest for Perkins to get Hollister to trust him and love him like he loves her. There is so much going on in this book, not just with Perkins and Hollister but with all the characters. Dunbar does a fantastic job of weaving all of this into a perfect story. We have the mystery taking place with the other characters, but it doesn’t take away from their story because their story has many twists and turns as well. The romance is perfectly paced. It isn’t rushed at all between the couple which makes their romance realistic. The most important aspect of the story for me were the characters. Hollister and Perkins are my favorite of the entire series. They both have an innocence and vulnerability to them. While Hollister’s innocence is taken from her early, she still has an innocent quality about her. It’s that part of her that makes her such a giving person which completely endeared her to me. Perkins, what can I say, except he is the perfect example of what a “knight” should be…loyalty, love, and honor. He has all those qualities which made it very easy for me to fall in love with him…yeah, he’s pretty hot too! Their love story was emotional, sometimes heartbreaking, but in the end beautiful!
In my opinion, L.B. Dunbar is one of the most talented writers I have had the pleasure of reading. She writes two completely different series, The Sensations Series and this one, although both are romance, and they are equally good. Each has a depth that a lot of books in the romance genre don’t have. In this particular series, her talent really shines through. She’s has taken the classic tale of King Arthur, modernized in the form of rock stars and completely made it her own. If you are tired of the same old rock star romances, you really need to give this series a try. I guarantee you will not regret it. Each story is unique, and each interconnects with the others. L.B. Dunbar, you rocked this one!!!!

L.B. Dunbar has me totally hooked on this series! With each new addition to the Legendary Rock Stars Series, I find myself falling deeper under the spell of this mythical re-telling/fan-fiction and dreading the day this series is complete. The Quest of Perkins Vale has certainly left its mark, distinguishing itself from the first two books with a voice that is uniquely Perkins. L.B. Dunbar manages yet again to keep me dangling, revealing just enough new information to move the story forward, while further securing my emotional investment in the fate of her characters. Perkins and Hollister have a unique history that definitely intrigued me. Watching their story play out and seeing the truth about their lives unfold made them probably my favorite couple of the series so far. This book packed a lot of unexpected emotion and a poignancy that moved me. L.B. Dunbar took the Legendary Rock Stars Series to a whole new level with this one, securing a strong pull to this journey and strengthening my connection to her lovable characters.
Perkins Vale remained very much a mystery in the first two books of this series, so I was decidedly anxious to get my hands on his story. Aside from the long list of questions I had in regards to the plot, I had an equally long list about his character. L.B. Dunbar unraveled him carefully, revealing a vulnerability and insecurity that made me fall in love with him. Perkins’ huge heart and kind soul left me breathless at times as I enjoyed the great care with which he approached his relationship with Hollister. Hollister quickly became my favorite female in this series, winning me over with her tragic story and undeniable strength. Her quiet courage and unwillingness to be a victim was beautiful and inspiring. Seeing her break free and come into her own was mesmerizing and absolutely perfect. The chemistry between these two sparks off the pages, their inevitable connection deliciously palpable, resulting in a story ripe with heart and just enough heat to keep you begging for more.
One of the things I love about this series is the way in which L.B. Dunbar weaves the past with the present storyline. Seeing how the band members met and developed their sound gives this series a special sense of authenticity, grounding their relationships in an extensive history. This was doubly true with Hollister, her past and Perkins’ having intertwined. In addition to the mystery of Arturo’s disappearance, this couple’s journey had its own clandestine tone, urging me to devour their story until I could untangle the truth of their connection. L.B. Dunbar has expertly designed this series so as to carefully sculpt the overarching tale. Each book overlaps with one another, revealing pieces of the plot from alternative perspectives and filling in gaps with the roles each character played. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this awesome series!
I have been so curious about Perkins and his story since I first met him back in The Legend of Arturo King. He is the shy, virgin drummer who will go to battle for his band mates. While you do not have to have read the previous books in this series, I strongly suggest it as you get all the back story. There are some overlapping events as it is told in time with Lansing's story. This was a really interesting idea from L.B. Dunbar and I think it worked very well to show how the tragedy of Arturo affected the band members differently.
I really liked Perkins. He is big and awkward yet gentle and kind. He is loyal almost to a fault and hopeful that one day he will be with his one true love, Hollister. He finally sees her after years and years of waiting and it is as if all is right in his world again. Except she isn't the same, life has changed her from the girl she once was into the woman she is today. She is harder and wary to trust anyone. Hollister's past was just heartbreaking. The things that woman had lived through and still continued to struggle with proved just how strong she was. I loved her selflessness. She put everyone before herself, even Perkins when it meant that he would be safe.
The relationship between Perkins and Hollister is different but no less all consuming. They're both reserved and waiting for the other one to take what they have to offer and give. Yet their inexperience and past make them hesitant. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and did it ever! I wasn't expecting the book to take quite the turn it did. I was both shocked and pleased with how everything played out. Both Perkins and Hollister grew so much in the short time frame of this book. Their relationship only grew in its solidness and they were both able to shed some of their reservations. They truly helped each other heal and let go of months and years of guilt and fear. Perkins helped Hollister make new memories of what love really is. I liked the dual POV that this story is told in. There is so much swirling through both of their minds at all times that it was nice to hear what went unsaid.
Of course, the rest of the Nights are present too. I loved getting to see more of Lansing, Tristan, Kaye and Guinnie. As in Lansing's story, there were instances where Arturo made his presence known. It was a great lead in for the next installment of the series which will be Tristan's book.
Five stars is not enough for this book. This book still has me on a roller coaster. If you have been following this series you will understand. Each character is just as intense and great as the next. Perkins will win you over just for being himself. We all face awkwardness and shyness in life. Some of us even face some bullying in life because of what we look like. I find myself admiring this character. Regardless of what life has dealt him, he has stayed true to himself and searching for his true quest. Love... The one thing we all seek. Regardless of even the teasing of his friends Perkins stays loyal to a mystery woman who he has lived for years.
But before one can find happiness, we must deal with some tragedy from time to time. Boy will Perkins face this, but amidst it all he will find Hollister. Will he be able to be the knight that saves her? Will she allow her tough exterior and walls to come down slightly to allow the Hero to help her? These are questions I found myself asking as the story progressed. I have to admit this book had one key thing I love to see in the female heroine. She is strong, independent, and fends for herself, but when the story progressed and she reached a point where it was more than she can handle. She didn't coward, but she also didn't put on a fake front. She did what all strong women need to do, admit that we need help from time to time. We can damsels and find the one knight that is our equal.
This couple was so perfect on how they strengthened each other's weakness, and helped themselves grow and evolve as a unit. While this happened they face a past and future that holds a lot of danger and mystery. I loved how the writers brought the other characters background story into play, but in a subtle way that it didn't take away from Perkins on story. They each flowed into each other smoothly. Drawing a bigger Picture that will definitely be as great as this story. I also loved how I found myself think about my own feelings about love and seeing how realistic this story played out.
So, if your looking for a story that will take you away and have you connect with the characters don't hesitate to pick this book up. Also, if you look hot, sexy, and steamy without overkill this books will definitely deliver. ;) (Mari from Book Crazy Gals)
Okay kidding...I LOVED this book in the Legendary Rockstars series! This is my favorite tale of The Nights thus far.
This book was so well written and so were the characters. I loved that this series has a modern take on classic takes, but I love that it has an antiquated feel to it. I love the play on names that the author continues throughout this series. I love the modern time troubles that have the old world feel to them. I like the creepy characters because they make each tale unique. I love that this book takes place during the time as the previous one takes place. That we get to know what Perkins was up to while Lansing was making such a mess of his life. I also love that Perkins Vale seemed to complete his quest but I wasn't without struggle and plenty of time passing.
From book one of the series we know that Perkins is not your usual rockstar and that he is looking for a girl from his teenage years. I like that throughout this book it seems that everyone knows who his mystery girl is but they had never crossed paths, except for those two fateful times. Even though it upsets him to know that she had been within his reach I think it makes for such a great story. I immediately fell in love with their relationship from the beginning.
I loved that Perkins was riddled with question but I loved him even more for his patience. I loved Hollister right off the bat and I knew once she opened up to Perkins that their relationship would be amazing. I was right. I loved every push and pull I their relationship. I loved every truth revealed between them and I loved Perkins willingness to forgive and love Hollister regardless of how he first felt hearing her truths. Hollister is definitely fitting with the rest of the leading ladies in this series. She is such a loving and giving person even though she had something so precious taken from her. I loved her need to give back and take care of women in need. I also loved her tough exterior but I loved even more when she accepted the protective nature of Perkins.
I guess I really just loved this book and I am looking forward to more of this series!
“And then I gave it to you. I gave my heart to you.”
The Quest of Perkins Vale is book 3 in the Legendary Rock Star Series by Author L.B. Dunbar. It is absolutely one of my favorite reads of the years.
“I wasn’t falling in love. I’d been in love. I’d been in love with a girl that only seemed to exist in my fantasy.”
Perkins Vale is the drummer for The Nights, a rock band that is currently facing quite a bit of drama. He is not the most vocal in the group, and tends to stay behind-the-scenes, while others are out and about in the public eye. He is a rather simple man; he likes what he likes and that's it.
“I didn’t need protection. I needed my own path.”
Hollister SanGrael is a mystery. She is not the typical lady that we would think of a rockstar falling for. But, there are things about her that only certain people know. And these things set her apart from all others. She is looking for a redo, of sorts, to give her a fresh start at life.
“Sunshine of my love…You radiate and I’m drawn to you.”
There was not one part of The Quest of Perkins Vale that I didn’t absolutely LOVE! Having read all three of L. B. Dunbar’s books in this series, I can definitely say that Perkins’ story is my favorite. Who doesn’t love to read a story about a twenty-five-year- old male virgin? However, in order to make the reader buy into the fact that there could possibly be a twenty-five-year-old rockstar virgin, the delivery of the story is most important; this author wrote an impeccable story. Told in the past and present, from both Hollister and Perkins points of view, every person and scene described by the author was brought to life and made vivid in my reader’s eye. I was hooked from page one until the end, and then I was left with this overwhelming feeling of peace and contentment as the story came to an end for this book. Yes, I wanted to know more, and I can hardly wait for Tristan’s story. But, I was endeared to the characters, their plight, and their love.
The Quest of Perkins Vale is book 3 in the series. It starts after the end of book 1 and runs alongside book 2 The Story of Lansing Lotte. I would still recommend reading books 1 and 2 before reading this one.
Perkins Vale is the drummer for the rockband The Nights. After that fateful night at the end of book 1 he is struggling with some issues. He blames himself for what happened. Why? Because he saw her, the one!
Ever since he was 13 Perkins has been searching for the girl he knows is the one he is destined to be with forever. Hes 25 now and a virgin still because he's waiting for her, saving himself for her! Crazy right? I mean he's in a rockband surely he can't be a virgin? Um yes he can. He promised her he would return for her, and he could never find her again. Until that night at the club, that night when he saw her. Hollister SanGrael, he knew in his heart she was the young girl he had promised to save.
Hollister is living at the womans shelter, she doesn't even know how she ended up at a rock concert for the womens shelter to be honest. But she ends up with Perkins. She has some horrific secrets of things that happened when she was young and is deeply traumatised by those events.
Can dear, sweet lovable giant Perkins convince her that not only is he the 13 year old lad she remembers that gave her hope in the form of his fathers ring? Can he win her heart and trust?
Read on and find out.
I absolutely adored this book. It's so strange, I loved book 1, didn't like book 2 as much and now loved book 3! The storyline in this book is incredible and kept me in suspense the whole time. And the ending!! I swooned its so adorable and sweet! You just want to totally fall in love with sweet Perkins Vale. Everyone needs a Perkins to love and adore them.
ARC received in exchange of honest review. Honestly, I didn't want to like it. I was aggravated and I just wasn't feeling it, plus I was affected by some things I read on the author's Facebook. That being said, I still powered through because this series kinda intrigues me. GRRR, The beginning was kind of slow. I was pissed I was reading about the damn crash again. However, I have to give it to Mrs. Dunbar, it has been kind of interesting to read the same scene written in 3 different perspectives. This isn't something that I have read before(I am not saying it's genius, as I am sure that other people have done it, I just haven't read it) I liked that the novel was alternating POV between the Perkins and Hollister. This made the story have a very nice flow and both characters were so interesting that it just worked. I loved both characters. Hollister had grit, personality and a total badass undertone that I liked. Perkins, Perkins, Perkins. I LOVED how he was the one that saved himself. It felt refreshing to have a guy experience sexual things for the first time. I really liked this aspect. The actual story line was pretty interesting, although at times I felt it was verbose for the sake of being verbose. There were definitely things that just went on too long. My attention span struggled. lol Do I think this story is for everyone, honestly no. I think that people that have a interest in literature will find it kind of fascinating. I think others will struggle without having the background on King Arthur and the Round Table. It will seem superfluous and silly to others. Will I read the next book? uhm, not sure. To be continued, just like Arturo's story.
I'm so addicted to this series it's not even funny! L.B. Dunbar is so fantastic that she will never be able to write fast enough for me. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this series.
Perkins Vale is the drummer for the famous rock band The Nights. He has been on a lifelong quest to find Hollister SanGreal, the girl that he has loved since he was young. This quest has kept him from becoming a man whore because he can't get her out of his mind to even sleep with all the groupies. Hollister has been abused by unscrupulous men for a long time. She never thought the boy from the woods would find her again. She now guards her heart against most people, especially men.
L.B Dunbar's books just keep getting better and better if that's even possible. This was another EPIC story from her. I have always loved the Legend of King Arthur and the Round Table, so I simply LOVE the spin L.B. puts on the story with rock stars. She stays close to the legends while adding in the modern day. I love the duel POVs because it just seems to add something awesome to the story. It had laughter, suspense, angst, chemistry, flashbacks of their history, and all encompassing love. The book was very well written and I couldn't put it down until the last page. When I'm reading L.B. Dunbar, I'm always transported into the story because of her fabulous writing style. She even keeps us on our toes with brief appearances of Arturo King. I'm on pins and needles for the next book! I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this book and series!
I am so lucky that I won an Arc copy of The Quest of Perkins Vale in return for an honest review. This book three in the legendary Rocks stars by L.B. Dunbar, and it does not disappoint. It's starts off at that fateful night when Perkins with the help of Arturo saves Hollister, the girl he's been looking for her for 12 yrs. We live through Arturo's accident, but it's told through others perspective and we see how each of them felt and how they were there for each other. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone. But you are going fall head over heals for Perkins Vale. He had contact with Arturo twice, & hr tells Perkins to hold to Hollister no matter what, & that he can't come home to them for has no home because guine was his life & she loves another. We find out so much about the past through Perkins Flash back of their youth, how the became a band of brothers. On another note: yes Guine gets on my nerves, but I think Mure Linn is responsible for Arturo staying away, & his fragile condition. I think he is a snake. I do hope Guine & Arturo find there way back to one another(even though it doesn't happen in the Arthurian legends) But most of all I can't wait for the band of brothers to come back together. I'm really looking forward to Tristan's story. L.B. Dunbar, thanks again for writing & sharing another great story.
Perkins Vale, dubbed The Hands Free Lover and I'll tell ya what, I had goosebumps more times than not through this book! I loved Arturo, and Lansing a little more but woah, Perkins is at the top of my list now! He's shy, awkward and very lovable, I wanted all of his dreams to come true. Now, getting those dreams to reality was a daunting task for him and Dunbar did a fantastic job writing his trials. He's doesn't have too many troubles but "the love of his life" Hollister does. My heart hurt for this poor girl and I just wanted to see her happy, whether Perkins was the one who made her smile or not. This is a love story for the ages, I mean come on, Perkins waits his entire life to find that one girl. She isn't just any girl either, it's obvious she's special and I love that he searched and held out hope for her. I love this series and each book just gets better! LB Dunbar has a way with words and if you want to read a book that will pull you in and make you feel like you are part of the story then one click her books today! And boy did I get the feels, and that is my favorite part of reading a book, the feels!
LB Dunbar is absolutely amazing. Her technique, imagery, and character development is so above the nar you can't she it!
I fell in love with Perkins right from the start. No question about it - true f-ing love. He was able to stay true to his goal for so, so long, proving not only his determination, but also his loyalty and belief in... not telling! LOL
Any way This book begins right where Arturo's ends, so Perkins is reeling from what happened at the end (if you haven't read it go do that immediately). Guilt and desire play a major part of this part of Perkins's journey and as a reader I was completely enthralled (read: there was no sleeping only reading).
And Hollister! Holy crap does she rock my socks!! So broken, so damn broken, but yet she isn't shattered. Hollister is kind, caring, and thoughtful beyond most people - let alone someone with her history. She is the perfect leading lady for this hot drummer.
The tension between the two, the give and take, the ever growing need and resistance... these things just prove that LB Dunbar is a shining star in the indie world.
Perkins is the drummer for the infamous "Knights." This handsome, gentle giant is "the hands-free lover" living it up on sex, drugs, women, and rock n roll.....well that's how the media perceives him. But that is the total opposite of the real Perkins Vale! In real life away from the fans he's just a simple man who loves his privacy and takes pleasure in his drums. He is a 25 yr old virgin who is saving his heart and body for a girl he meet when he was 12. He has been on a quest to find Hollister for many years and by chance he does. Now what? She is not the girl he remembers. She has been used and broken. With patience and time watch the love story bloom before your eyes. Sorry Arturo and Lansing Lott but I have to say Perkins story is my favorite thus far! Can't wait to read Tristan's story and see if he is who he appears or something greater and of course the lovely Guinevere story as well. Congratulations L.P. Dunbar on another great novel!
I have received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Where to start....
uuummmm....
OMG!!!! I LOVE IT!!! I think I was won over by Perkins and now Arturo is second! I did not expect to be hooked on someone else! But a hot drummer? YES PLEASE! He is quiet, sexy and makes your knees go all wobbly for simply being in the same room.
He is not the SOB as the rest of the group and is not going through the women as fast as the rest of them. He wants THE ONE that got away 12 years go. And he is determined to find her. And when he finally finds her, he has a new mission. A mission that has one goal only: make her fall for him as hard as he has fallen for him.
I have liked Perkins from the beginning, but I didn't fell in love him until his story, when we can see how amazing he is as a musician and a person.
He is one of those book boyfriends that you want to scream: forget about her TAKE ME!!!
Perkins Vale, the drummer for The Knights, is on a quest for the woman of his dreams. He is twenty-five and still a virgin because he is saving himself for her and he believes that she is saying herself for him. He and Hollister SanGrael met when they were just thirteen.
Perkins has been searching for her for what seems like forever. Then one night at charity concert he sees Hollister for the first time in years. I don't think Hollister believes that Vale is the boy she met in the woods but she allows him to save her. Hollister's life has been difficult and her innocence was taken from her. But with Vale she's offered her first experiences with true love.
Perkins is my favorite character so far in this series. He was so sweet and kind. I found it refreshing that he was saving himself for his one true love. I also enjoyed Holli's quest to reinvent herself and overcome her past.
Once again, great writing and characters that left me wanting more. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes rock star stories with a twist.
I have been waiting for Perkins book and I was not disappointed. Perkins has searched and waited his whole life for the girl with gray eyes that has haunted him. Finally he has found her. Hollister has been through such a tragic past but preservers on with helping battered women. This book was about heartache, true love, and getting over the past. Neither Perkins or Hollister had a good childhood and they are working on getting over their past as they explore their feelings for each other.
It is hard for me to write a review for this book but cause I don't feel any review does LB Dunbar's books justice. She is a one click author for me. Her books weave a delicate intricacy of love, angst, and characters that will wrap themselves around your heart. There is so much emotion that comes out of her stories.
You will fall in love with the quiet drummer of The Knights in this book. Follow Perkins as he grows when he finds the love that he has saved himself for.
I am really enjoying this series. I would not consider this a stand alone. It is very helpful to read the first two books in this Legendary Rockstar series about Arturo King and Lansing Lotte. She is building a mystery around Arturo with each book and at the same time introducing us to each unique member of The Nights.
Perkins has a very quiet but strong presence. He may be my favorite to date in The Nights. He seems to have such a strong sense of morality, his passions, his music. I also liked finding out Hollister's story as it unraveled throughout this story. There was nothing simple about either of their pasts and I appreciated how it drew them to each other for very different reasons.
I will continue to follow this series as L.B. Dunbar slowly lures me in as I continue to wonder how it will all end.
Perkins Vale has been such a mystery from the very start of this series and boy was I glad he finally got his story. Perkins and Hollister meet over a decade ago and he has been searching for her ever since. When they have a chance encounter Perkins knows it her but Hollister has no idea that he is the boy she meet all those years ago. I have been a fan of L.B Dunbar since I first discovered and I have read all of her books since. I have totally fallen in love with this series each book gets better and better. Not only do we get Perkins and Hollister’s story but we get a chance to catch up on the rest of the nights as well.
I am totally in love with this series. Perkins' is not your typical rocker, but he is every bit as hot and endearing as the other members of The Nights. Ms. Dunbar superbly shows the deep relationships between the members of the band and their continued unity in the face of the uncertainty of the band's future. The author's ability to weave this story and relate it to the events of the previous two books flawless. The story is beautiful and unlike anything I have read before. Perkins and Hollister's story is both heart wrenching and healing. Do not miss this book.
This book was amazing by far my favorite in this series. This story is about Perkins the shy virgin drummer for the Nights. Perkins is on a quest to find the girl from the past that he has been saving himself for. Hollister is that girl and unlike Perkins she has not had a good life in fact its been horrible. But when he finds her again you will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens and for what comes next I know I am cant wait for the next book in this series. :)
I'm in love with Perkins. He is such a sweet character and I loved how we get to know him little by little. I thought that the take on the Holy Grail as a person instead of a object was a very interesting one while still keeping somewhat close to the original story as Percival was know to be the purest of the knights.
I think that Perk might be my favorite character so far. Great read!
Perkins may just be my favorite of the Nights. At least so far. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I did love him. And Holister was an interesting character. At first, I wasn't sure about her. As her backstory unfolded I started to understand. These books are a great read, and I can't wait to read more.
OMG! So I loved Arturo, then Lansing, and now Perkins! At this point, it's Arturo & Lansing who?! Perkins quest for Hollister was full of heartbreak & love. Each one in the series is as good, even better than the one before. I can't wait to fall in love Tristan!
