These weren't ghosts of the dead with unfinished business. They were something far more sinister.

Daniel Barrow is a ghost hunter bound to a life of misery; protecting the world from ghosts by killing their human hosts. He knows the rules: mark the targets, plot the crime scenes, and then murder those beyond saving. Daniel's safe in his rituals—until he meets Faye Michaels.

Started off so interesting, but then got bogged down. Just couldn’t finish it.

This book was excellent!
A Paranormal ghost story but not like any ghost story I've ever read before!!

The Ninth Hunter is not your typical Ghost story but so much more. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I won a free copy of this book. It’s a completely different concept about ghosts, how they interact with humans, and the hunters who track the ghosts.

Twenty-three year old Daniel Barrow, who has been hunting ghosts for the past 6 years, is about to commit murder, again. His target is twenty-thre

I've read some of Anna Hub's 'The Shadows Series' and found that she has a truly unique writing voice, and creates new worlds and situations which I haven't come across in other authors.
The same can be said of The Ninth Hunter, which proved to be another unique tale, and one which I thoroughly enjoyed reading and would highly recommend.
Ms. Hub has taken a Ghost Hunter, Daniel Barrow and achieved something which is very difficult to do. She has made a cold-hearted murderer - for whom killing peop
Intriguing concept that everyone has 'ghosts' (more like emotional energies) and their presence provides conscience.

Occasionally the ghosts turn rogue, and instead of feeding energy to their host they extract it, making their victim feel drained and beginning to question their very sanity as they become aware of voices and ghostly presence.

Enter stage left Daniel. Trained as a ghost hunter, if he kills the human host the rogue ghosts effectively die too before they can transfer their energies

Aussie author Anna Hub has a very unique writing voice and although this isn't a genre I normally read, I couldn't put it down. Daniel, a serious and shady character becomes very likeable, very quickly. He's a ghost hunter, a killer and he has his sights set on Faye. but she's not going quietly. The friction and torment between these two keeps the pages turning. I couldn't give this less than 5 stars! ...more

I almost don't have words to describe this intriguing story. The lead characters are so charismatic! Daniel draws you in, even when you know you should be appalled by him. He is after all basically an assassin! Then there is his new target, Faye...I can't say much without inserting spoilers, but I will say the development of their relationship is done extremely well. The characterization of the "ghosts" is so totally unique and compelling, not so easily done with all the stories already written ...more

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is a good book, with a vivid world of ghost hunting and interesting protagonists. However, I just don't think it was completely my cup of tea, as I found myself getting a bit bored at times even when the action was happening. There was quite a bit of over-explaining and info dumps near the start of the book too, which was a shame because it didn't need it. The author actually did a great job showing the story, so

Daniel Barrow has been a ghost hunter for six years. Barrow has been trained to kill the target host. If the host lives, the ghosts that surround the host, could kill he or she and move on to a new host. Barrow was a loner because of his occupation. Barrow studies the ways of the host, before he makes the kill. Barrow's trainer told him, that they were the only two ghost hunter that there were. Barrow's next target was Faye Michaels. Faye had five ghosts that surrounded her. The average person o ...more

Not just another ghost story, but it will definitely have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Throughout the entire book you get just enough information to keep your guessing what the heck is going on. So your turn the next page, and the next, and the next. Daniel and Faye are very well put together as characters here and Daniel starts out as out as an empty shell of a person, but Faye has a more optimist outlook that makes him question his life towards the end.

Hub will have you guessing what

I received this book from the author for free to read and leave an honest review. Daniel has been trained to be a cold-hearted killer hunting ghosts. I think Faye brings him back from the brink of being unredeemable. This book was the first I've read from Anna Hub, and I thought it was extremely well done. The characters are fantastic and well-developed. This fascinating story is very original and like nothing I've ever read before, and it keeps you guessing until the end. I received The Ninth Hunter as an ARC (advance reader's copy) book from the author. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. I vacillated between 4 and 5 stars and finally decided to round up. The story line was fresh, and although the ghost concept confused me a couple times, once I finally caught on to what was happening, I loved the plot. Good characters, fast pace, and well-conceived idea. ...more

I was given this book by Rebecca Hamilton in exchange for a fair and honest review.
It's ages since I read a good ghost story and this is one of the best. With all sorts of twists to the story it's fast and lacks no amount of excitement and action. No padding out, there is a full story from the beginning . The theory behind the story is both believable and well explained ( even though it's fiction ) . A most enjoyable book which easily deserves its 5*review

This was not the story I assumed it would be. I was expecting a simple ghost story and this was anything but. The characters were complex and multifaceted and as soon as I thought I had things figured out, it veered in another direction. Being a ghost hunter, Daniel is tasked with protecting the world from the savage ghosts that are attached to some humans, because those ghost will surely turn their human into something dangerous. Without telling too much, as it has already been explained in the ...more

The Ninth Hunter is a story about Daniel Barrow. Daniel is outside the house of 20-year old who was the host for ghosts. They were created and attached to her life force and the only way to stop them was to kill her, but Daniel thought of it as a kindness since they would drive her nuts and suck her life force from her before she died. Daniel is only twenty-three himself but finding out about the ghost and all at twenty has made him feel much older than his years. He has a job to do though, and ...more

This book was amazing from the start! It starts off fast paced and never really lets up throughout the story. I really enjoyed the paranormal aspect of this book, and it approaches ghosts and hauntings in a way that's never been done before. This book with a ghost hunter and his haunted target, and goes through their turmoil of finding out that not everything is as it seems.

The best part of this book is that it keeps you guessing. As the hunter learns new information, it leaves you with even mo

This book was so great. I could not put it down. I used it to pass the time on my train ride to work and I was always so sad when I had to put the book down. A real page turner I will most certainly be getting the rest of Anna's books! She is now my top recommendation for friends and family

A whole new adventure

Sometimes in life you find a book that is so different from everything that you are used to that the afterbook hangover is much stronger! This is one of those books!

It was an interesting storyline, very different from any I've read before. I like the new take on ghosts. It was, at times, a bit slow and I found myself skipping forward to avoid the unnecessary filler on pages. I would recommend it as a one time read if you have nothing else to read. ...more

A thrilling, chilling tale with hints of Supernatural and Jason Bourne, while still managing to be something entirely new.
This book launches you straight into the action of a cold assassination, before the paranormal elements of this story become apparent. When they, prepare to let go everything you ever thought you knew about ghosts and possession.
What I loved most about this story was the combination of Daniel's viewpoint and Faye's strength. It's very easy to get into his head and

You are grabbed from the first page and it never lets you go! A Must read

This is the first time I have read this type of genre! I will read more from this Author. The story grabs you and never lets you go. It is fast paced with a lot of twists that take you one way and then drops you off in another. I loved that aspect of this story. I thoroughly enjoyed the book! I loved the Faye's strength and bravery and I couldn't help but like the poor conflicted Daniel. The characters are real which make

An interesting premise - everyone has ghosts which are necessary for survival but too many are dangerous! Daniel is a ghost hunter - someone whose ghosts have been destroyed and now needs to hunt ghosts himself for survival. His latest target proves more difficult than expected - and that is where a gripping narrative takes off.

Unusually I wasn't aware of the setting and initially decided that it might be Britain before eventually reading the author biography and concluding that it was set in Au

Normally I'm a fan of paranormal thrillers yet I found it difficult to keep my attention on the story. Reading a book straight through is my norm. However this book is the exception to this norm. While I like the concept of the book. I found that the book fell flat but the actual story didn't start until well over hundred pages. Even this didn't keep me from being distracted to really read the book. That being said I wish the author the best of luck with their future projects. ...more

This was a good book but I have to be honest, for me it took a while to get into the story. It wasn't until many chapters in that the book started to come together which is when some background info was added. Maybe if some of this info was introduced towards the beginning it may have changed it up a little. Once things started to fall into place the story became more interesting and started to flow better. This was the first book I've read by this author. Will I read more? Yes. ...more
