Do not play tricks on your neighbors unless you can stand the same treatment yourself.

Great fable, nice to have as an individual book. Short sentences on each page make it a manageable read aloud for a toddler but moral of story was lost on 2.5 yr old. Will definitely read again and again throughout the years.

I enjoyed this fable becuase it shows how people are sometimes not considerate of others needs, only their own. It is human nature to want to make people feel the way they made us feel especially if it was inconsiderate to us. It is important to be selfless and make others feel wanted and then we in return will feel the same way.

I read this book in Georgian "მელა და წერო". A simple tale with a moral: don't trick your friends and they won't deceive you. The illustrations are delightful. my blog review

I have arranged my takeaway thoughts into a haiku:

"Playing the bad host,
You chance friends repaying your
Hospitality."

Moral: One ought to keep it in mind that a true "friend" will dish as well as they take.
