All I can say is wow. If you havent had a chance to read book one in this series it is not entirely necessary but you will get to know the characters better. Book two picks up with Bel and his master Nes’egrinon after the battle with the ghoul kind. Nes’egrinon figures its time for Bel to get his wizard staff so takes him to the mage tree. Like all things in life it is not easy but Bel succeeds and comes face to face with the magical Roc. After finally getting down and back to their home there i ...more

Recommends it for: preteens, anyone who enjoys stories about wizards and dragons, YA Fantasy fans

This is the first book by James Cardona that I have read. I was immediately drawn into the story. Bel and Shireen completely captivated my imagination while reading this book. I love the way that the author blended the fantasy and romantic elements together. Sometimes I think that Fantasy books can have the tendency to drag in places, but the pacing in The Dragon’s Castle was fantastic.
One of the most important elements in Fantasy books is the world building. James Cardona’s world building in

Our hero, Bel, travels to the city with his mage master, and meets up with the girl he had fallen for at school. Likewise his master meets the woman he had fallen for so many years ago. While both couples try

The Dragon's Castle is a good read for young adults. The plot is well structured and the characters have depth and color. The relationship between Bel and Shireen is interesting ,very emotional, and keeps you wondering what will be with their love. This book fits the genre of Fantasy quite well.It has magic, wizards, and "very importantly",a dragon.
