Hi! My name is Viola Rose and i'm a 21 year old author from sweden!
I have always loved books, ever since I was a child. I love witches, dragons, magic and mermaids.
When I was a child I used to wish that if I imagined hard enough I would turn into a mermaid, just like in H2o!
The Burning Crown is my debut novel and I can't wait for all of you to join the world of Aevaryn and many other worlds to come.

✨✨ARC review✨✨

a VERY, very, VERY strong debut novel😭👏🏼 yeah okay this book checks a LOT of boxes for a great romantasy!!!!! dragons? sold. banter? sold. comic relief characters that somehow make every scene even better? SOLD.

and the tension... oh, the sweet, sweet tension. the lingering glances. the almost touches. the "accidentally" standing a little too close. ughhhhh inject it directly into my bloodstream 🫠

and then you've got epic battles, betrayals, prophecies... yeah. you got me. I was hooked immediately. the pacing is INSANE. you get sucked right in and suddenly you've read ten chapters without realizing it. actually... scratch that. the entire book had me in a chokehold.

my only real complaint is that I wanted just a little more depth. I want to FEEL these characters. I want longer conversations, more vulnerability, more moments where they just... exist together. I know we're probably being kept in the dark on purpose and that book two will (hopefully) deliver, BUT STILL. give me a little more heart 😭

other than that? absolutely worth reading. especially for a debut. like??? hello??? I'm already impatiently waiting for book two because I NEED ANSWERS🫡🐉✨

OK WOW i had so much fun reading the burning crown!!!💜 this is such a strong debut and a must for all the dragon+fantasy lovers!!

i loved how the story throws you straight into the action with a tense opening chapter that instantly had me thinking “oh… we’re definitely coming back to this later” 👀 and i was HOOKED from page one!!

the pacing is so good, there’s a lot of humor, great character dynamics, and i flew through this in just a few sittings.

also… no spice? didn’t even mind. the chemistry and tension between the characters sooo strong, and yes… i’m officially an alaric girl now!!! 🫠😍

i guessed parts of the twist, but the ending still managed to surprise me, and that cliffhanger definitely has me ready for book two!!! neeed it NOW!!!

again, such a strong debut and i can’t wait to see where this series goes next!!!🫶🏼

I loved the story and the plot twists. The story had a good flow and there are never a dull moment. I adore the trope princess x broody knight and there are dragons! I loved all the characters but I wished there where more depth. The conversations are a bit long and doesn’t give much to the story. Some parts are a bit repetitive. Overall a really good debut. Rating 3,5.

We follow a young princess, Seraphine, that discovers that she is not normal, something is happening to her. She meets and bonds with a dragon and learns about a prophecy about herself. At her side she has her sword tutor, a knight called Alaric. They go on a quest, builds alliances and prepares for a Great War.

This book contains so many of my favourite tropes! There is fire magic, shadow wielding, magic, dragon riders, he trains her, only one bed, prophecy and a war. The story is easy to follow, quick in pace and easy English. On some note you can sense that this is the authors debut novel but over all it is a great story. There were unexpected things happening, my eyes filled with tears on a couple of occasions and the book ends with a cliffhanger.

Arc review!

I was lucky enough to get to read Viola’s debut novel. First i want to state that even though i have criticism, i could never write a book and just the fact that this book is written is awesome. And it’s also super good for being a debut novel! Anyways, I have a lot of thoughts about this book, and i want to start with all the positives!

Firstly, the way Viola describes the environment is beautiful and immersive. It makes you envision the world very vividly. I love dragons (obviously), and the relationship between Seraphina and Vaelthira was very heartwarming and empowering. I also love how she tells Sera what’s actually happening and who she is, she isn’t grumpy like in some other dragon-books.

And the ending??? Ahhhhhh

Now to the criticism;
Like i said, the environmental descriptions are beautifully written, but there’s also a lot of repeating lines that could be reshaped.
For example, almost every page has this format when describing how Sera feels or perceives situations: “Not __. Not ___. But ___”. There’s nothing wrong with that. But if those sentences were rewritten as longer, more descriptive sentences, the reader would get more immersed. And if it wasn’t repeated so often, i think the sentences would hit harder.

I had a hard time keeping track of who was talking in dialogues. Often you’ll write who’s talking and how they’re saying it, and i think that would’ve made the dialogue flow better.

There are also some aspects of the plot, world building and character development that i want to address. I’d have loved if we’d gotten more context to the world. Sera had a life before the book, she can’t have lived her whole life without any knowledge about how the world works, past wars etc. She mentions past wars being depicted around the castle, but i’d have liked hearing some anecdotes connected to that. What did Sera know before granny told her about the actual history?

Also, what did Sera’s upbringing look like? Maybe a memory of her and Adeline playing when they were young. Sera mentions feeling out of place, but we never really get to see how. How has that impacted her through out her life? Has she never suspected her “mom and dad” wasn’t really hers? If so, what happened for her to feel like that? And some bonding moments from the past. What happened the first time Sera met Alaric? Just some recounts of the past. It would’ve given more depth to Sera, and it would’ve made me get to know her better.
I want to know more!!!! That would’ve made the whole book more impactful in my opinion, and her reactions to situations would’ve made more sense.

This is ultimately a 3 star for me, and the reason i didn’t give it a higher rating is mainly because of the writing. I have really high hopes for the next book in this series!

♡ ARC review ♡

First of all, the reading experience was excellent and the adventure Viola took us on with The burning crown is amazing in many ways. I normally really love to read spicy books but in this case - SCREW the spice! Viola really did it with the tension and slow burn. It was great! Second, the plot is exciting and the pace is neither slow or fast, it's somewhere inbetween. It's working and it's really good!

I'm missing a little more depth to the caracters and the relationships, I want to know them even more and feel them to the core! I really hope we get more of that in the second book because I love Alaric and Sera is everything I want in a fmc - brave, strong (and obviously a dragon rider 😎) I really hope she starts believing it and really feels it too.

The plottwist in the end was a nice little surprise, didn't see that one coming. I sometimes struggled a little with who said what so I had to read the conversations a few times over now and then. In the end, it still worked out fine though.

I'm really looking forward to read the next one in the series ❤️ thank you Viola for introducing us to Aevaryn and for giving us Vaelthira (I'm a huge fan honestly)

I was lucky enough to be a beta AND an arc reader for Viola. I had this book finished within days (I’m a slow reader), the fastest I’ve ever read a book.

I liked everything from beginning to end, there are some things I wish hadn’t happened but it wouldn’t have been a very good story without it (sadly). The characters are amazing, and though I found one of them very annoying at the start (which is the whole point), he grew on me and is now my favourite character.
The plot itself I found very intriguing, and at some points heartbreaking. There were very few moments where I could predict what was going to happen next and I was very eager to figure it out. This is my new favourite book, I absolutely love everything about it, even the sad parts! Cannot wait to see what happens in the next one!

Thank you to the author for providing me with a physical arc copy. This review is of my own honest thoughts.

This book is a debut from the author and although this shines through at times through the writing style, it is a book filled with lots of plot and quite fast pacing. It was easy getting into the story and I really enjoyed how short the chapters were.

What I was struggling with was that I had a hard time keeping track of who said what in the dialogues. I also wished there was more depth to the story and to the characters, that way I think it would be easier to connect to them as well and get invested in them on a whole different level.
