Magelica's Voyage is an enchanting tale of a mysterious girl born out of sapphire-coloured egg, who goes on a magical journey as far as her imagination can soar. Magelica, along with her trusty sidekick, Tris the dragon, are magically transported to the Isle of Dreams escorted by a Warblegrif named Odin where Magelica meets Wally the Wizard, the giant turtle who carries the Isle of Dreams on his back, and the lovely Queen Raya who is searching for her lost son. Curious about her parentage, and where she’d come from, twelve year old Magelica runs to the cottage from the forest, in order to seek shelter from a sudden storm. At home, Magelica's carer, Gri, runs for her a warm bath, while retelling the story of how she’d hatched from an egg, atop a silver feather in a large nest. Soaking in the bath, and deep in thought, Magelica is startled when Odin – a purple warblegrif – flies in the window, urgently seeking her help. They set off to see Queen Raya in ...more

Magelica's Voyage is a magical children's story about believing in yourself and having faith. Magelica is a fairy hatched from a sapphire-colored egg, but who has never met her parents. She is watched over by a Guardian Angel named Gri. After a scary storm, she arrives safely home but is then whisked away to a magical land w

Magelica's Voyage is a brilliantly written series that is presented with such raw vulnerability and sincerity. It's a story that promotes perseverance, humility, loyalty, compassion, closeness, friendship, kindness and love. Moreover, Magelica's character arc is one that is sure to connect with the hearts of little girls and encourage all those who venture along in her journey of discovery to rediscover their own virtue, beauty, and truths. Needless to say, it will provoke all those

Magelica’s Voyage by Louise Courey Nadeau is an enchanting magical fantasy for young readers aged 5-10. Magelica has no knowledge of her parents or where she came from, but the story is that she hatched out of a sapphire coloured egg. Magelica, with her pet dragon Tris, must run home to her Guardian Angel Gri’s cottage when a violent storm breaks. In her headlong rush through the forest, she loses her precious feather necklace. My thanks to Mother Daughter Book Reviews and Louise Courey Nadeau for my free copy of Magelica’s Voyage in exchange for a fair and honest review

Transported, is the word that comes to mind after reading this book. Magelica is a small girl who hatched from a sapphire egg and like most kids, even those who aren’t so obviously special, she just wants to know who she is and where she came from.

One night she is given the chance to learn a little more about herself when she is called on to help a magi

Magelica’s Voyage by Louise Courey is a lovely and enchanting story of a young girl who uses her imagination to take her on the adventure of her life.

Courey begins by introducing Magelica who is reflecting upon her past. Magelica doesn’t know who her mother is and is confused with where she came from.

The author writes, “Who did she look like - her mother? Her father? She’d never met either. Certainly she didn’t look like any other living creature she knew!”

Magelica does know that she was raised

My 5 year old daughters review: I really liked the book. I liked the pictures because they were pretty and took me on an adventure. I loved when she met Queen Raya and got the necklace with the silver feathers. I liked the necklace because it was magic and could take her back to the Isle of the Dreams.

My review: The illustrations in the book were very colorful and as my daughter said, "took me on an adventure." The colors are vivid and add to the story. Magelica, who was hatched from an egg and

When my youngest caught sight of this book, she immediately started begging for me to read it to her. So big plus on the covers because they grabbed her attention--exactly what a cover should do.

Magelica was all my daughter hoped her to be--sweet, kind and a little magical. The story begins with Magelica wondering who she really is and contemplating with the cutest little dragon on her side. Especially the idea that she came from an egg was fascinating and definitely had my daughter as curious o

The chapters are extraordinarily short - a couple pages (with full illustrations) at most. This is structured perfectly for a beginning independent reader getting ready for chapter books.

Magelica is a beautiful character, in illustration and heart. She wonders about her origins, and as always, Gri is open to telling the tale of how she was found in her sapphire egg by the Gatherers twelve years before. She wears a feather necklace, made out of a feather that she was found with.

Both books are so amazing with rich and vibrant illustrations. Believing in yourself is a deep theme in both of these stories, which of course I love. Isabella devoured both of these books. In The first book”Magelica’s Voyage” it starts right off teaching the message of having faith. Magelica has to conquer fears in order to help the Turtle and the Isle of Dreams which rests on his back. Magelica learns to conquer fear and doubt and believe in herself. Our favorite part of this book is when Mage ...more

Magelica has been raised by Gri and is unaware of her heritage. Twelve years ago, she was hatched from a sapphire-colored egg and has wings like her pet dragon Tris. In fact her name is derived from the words "magic" and "angelic". Magelica invokes the help of her Guardian Angel when she's in trouble, and this becomes a recurring theme throughout the series. One night, Magelica learns that she is the only one who can help someone else out of trouble. Odin the warblegrif uses Magelica's magic fea ...more

It’s the first of the Magelica trilogy and sets the background of how Magelica didn’t know about her past, only that she was being raised by Gri. The legend was that she hatched from sapphire egg, along with a silver feather that she kept around her neck. She had a cute little dragon pet, Tris, who joined her on her adventures.

One night Magelica was visited by Odin and taken on a magical journey to another land. Their transport was nothing other than her bathtub that turned into a golden galleon

I am grateful to have received a copy of Magelica's Voyage from Louise Courey Nadeau, in conjunction with a Mother Daughter Book Reviews' giveaway. I also appreciate the author sending a copy of the second book in this series (Magelica's Voyage The Rescue), a replica of Magelica's feather necklace, and a bookmark.

Magelica is a young girl, who like all of us, wants to know who she is.

Where did she come from? Why was she left for Gri to care for her?

Her journey begins after a storm rushes her home where a hot bath is waiting to take her on an adventure of a lifetime.

Magelica's Voyage is a level 2 read for young readers, separated into small chunks like chapters making the story easy for kids to read and giving them places to stop and rest before the next leg of the race.

The artwork is fantastic, beautiful

For children, playing in a tub is the best pastime while taking a bath. But after this story is read to them, tub playing becomes even more wonderful. Magelica’s Voyage is an amazing fairy tale full of lessons for children of 2 and above. Not just the story, the illustrations are the ones that are truly amazing. The images are sharp and the colours are so vibrant that it is sure to hold a child’s attention to the book while you read it out to them.

I really liked this book! It was a sweet and wondrous fairy tale about love, believing in things and a new world on a sea turtle's back!

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I didn't really think I would love it seeing as I'm an adult and this is obviously geared towards a WAY younger audience. I initially wanted to read it so that my niece would have a new series to read and I was pleasantly surprised. It's perfect for her! It's entertaining and it creates a world that young children boys and girls could enjoy. It's also an easy read! my problem is with my niece she's been having difficulty reading and I've been trying to pinpoint ...more

2.5 stars on my Children's blog. First of all the illustrations for this book are spectacuar. Don't let the cover fool you; the images inside are beautiful, but that is where the goodness ends. The story is off somehow because its elements and pictures are geared toward young children (and it is marketed as a children's chapter book), but the content is more for Middle Grade age readers. It has complicated wording and it moves too fast, jumping from one scenerio to another. It even made my adult ...more

Magelica, with her tiny wings and long green hair, is a mystery to herself. She was found 12 years ago by gatherers in the fields, wrapped in a beautiful sapphire egg. The egg cracked revealing a very magical child. Knowing they were not suited to raise such a special one, they took her to one who could, to one Magelica has come to dearly love. Yet, at times she finds herself full of questions, full of wonder. Sometimes we may find ourselves wondering, who am I, and why am I here? It's not bad t ...more

She does have a Guardian Angel, Gri, who takes care of her. One day, a ball of feathers with crazy eyes shows up and tells her that her help is needed. That's when her adventure starts.

As a after school counselor I am always looking for new children's book to read to my kids at after school. This book would be a great book for the kindergartners to second graders. I read this book on the ePub. I promise I did not change the settings of iBooks. It showed tiny pages which I had to manually magnify, losing its formatting. But, besides that glitch, I was enchanted with the illustrations of the books. I especially love the mix of colors of the backgrounds.

My kids love to hear their birth stories, and Magelica is the same. I guess children could relate with that feeling.

Children also love adventures. They love to imagine being in another place and dealing with

This is a really sweet fantasy adventure story aimed at preschoolers and lower elementary children. I liked the idea behind the story - a girl hatched from an egg that travels to the Isle of Dreams on a giant turtle's back.
