Prince Ryuu hates his father, Emperor Midian. When he’s forced to buy a slave, he defiantly chooses Drakon instead of a woman. Because he’s determined to overthrow his father’s empire, he can’t afford to show vulnerability, but Drakon is more compelling than he’d anticipated. For an Arethuza warrior, affection is a weakness that can lead to death.

Awesome but way too short fantasy shifters story! Loved Prince Ryuu and Drakon, a Dragon shifter! Yay! Those two are so fucking hot together, they could have melted iron!!!

All in all, it was an awesome fast paced read and I enjoyed the fantasy setting. Would love to read more about Ryuu and Drakon’s world!

Now off to track down more Dragon shifters stories!

It was enjoyable but nothing more...

The writing style seemed so... simple, I guess. But again, I'm reading Captive Prince right now and it sets a super high standard 😉

3.5 star review by The Blogger Girls.

This is a fun, jam packed little dragon story. It’s short but complete.

Ryuu is biding his time until he can take down his evil father. In the meantime, his father is forcing Ryuu’s hand in providing him with an offspring which he believes will give him a strong, hopefully dragon blooded, child. That is, after all, why he married Ryuu’s mother, the woman he took after he raided her people and who it is rumored to have dragon bloodlines. Thinking to thwart his

I absolutely loved "Captive Fire"!  Just straight up loved it.  It was an incredible story of love and good triumphing over evil.  There was romance, action, intrigue, and sex.  Oh...and did I mention dragon shifters?  Oh yes.  Dragon shifters.  **SWOON**

The blurb sums it up pretty well, so I don't want to rehash all the details.  Here's a quick rundown.  Prince Ryuu is being forced by his father to take a slave.  The King wants him to cho

What can I say except the story line was well written and the characters were well established but it was missing a little something extra.

This was a surprisingly dark and heavy but still very hopeful and sweet dragon shifter story.

It’s high on angst and its sort of a dystopian flavor dragon shifter story but it has all the elements you’ll want if you like insta love/lust and fated mates with some high adventure thrown in.

“Captive Fire” by Erin Leaf is an erotic m/m paranormal romance featuring Prince Ryuu, heir to the oppressive and misogynistic Emperor Midian. His choice of a male slave, Drakon, has multiple implications…for both of them. Ryuu doesn’t realize that his new companion has ulterior motives and far more power than is apparent, and their attraction to each other puts them both in mortal danger. They will have to learn to trust each other in order to access the true benefits of their pairing, b

I really enjoyed reading Captive Fire by Erin M. Leaf. The characters were vibrant and the story very different from any dragon shifter story I have read so far. I like how this is a well rounded story and feels very finished. It could even be a series there are characters that could be spun off too. Prince Ryuu is living under the thumb of his vicious and horrible father. His father demands he take a slave. Ryuu does even though he deplores slavery. It is not the slave his father wanted for hi ...more

Another great find from the recommendations. This story has everything; romance, tyranny, rebellion, plotting, prejudice, shape shifting, and injustice all set in a fantasy setting. The book is kind of like a cross between Spartacus war of the dammed and game of thrones (and believe me I had many of those visuals while reading this book).

I loved the strength of the two main characters Rhyu and Drakon. They suit each other so well, so similar yet so different. Light and dark just like their drago

Oh what a great book! I loved everything about it. The characters were great (and well thought out and written). The world building was excellent. The descriptions were very detailed, so I could get a proper image of the landscape. The heat between Ryuu and Drakon was perfect. They burned up my Kindle. I love how they interacted with each other. They fell for each other rather quickly, but it's makes complete sense. They both have something the other needs...comfort and closeness especially. The ...more

Rating 3.5 This was enjoyable for its interplay between Ryuu and Drakon. It seemed a little strange that Ryuu trusted him so much from the very beginning but it was explained away. Both men have secrets and are caught up in a war for each of their people. There is a palpable sense of urgency and suspense as time runs out and the Emperor's threats loom larger and larger. The ending is very satisfying and the epilogue well done. The sex was more sensual rather than straight erotica. I will definit ...more

This is the first book I have read from this author and I was pleasantly surprised!

Erin knows how to keep a readers attention with romance and humor with action and science fiction thrown in for good measure. It was easy to keep turning the pages and keep very interested in the story. I enjoyed the characters just as well.

I can't wait to read more from this author. Another author to put on my favorites list!

The world building is fabulous! It’s this strange, unique, fantasy world that I had fun exploring. The characters, Ryuu and Drakon, are wonderful. I enjoy learning about their pasts and how they each crave the same future. My one complaint is the word repetition.

This was a cute but short story of dragon shifters. Ryuu and Drakon are bonded mates who are trying to dethrone the emperor or Ryuu's father. Their relationship started out in an unlikely way but then they realized they were working towards the same goal their bond only became stronger.
