Susan Canizares is one of the best authors out there when it comes to extra-easy science readers. Polar Bears features only one word per page (readable with context clues from the picture). Nevertheless, through skillful pairing of words with photographs, she manages to convey a surprisingly informative picture of baby polar bear life. The pictures are well-chosen and engaging.

Simple, easy book for beginning readers with lengthier explanations at end for older readers. Good introduction book on mammals but be prepared to discuss some pages with young readers!
