The end of the world is a lonely place.
I've wandered empty streets, squatted in abandoned apartments, and fled from the few who have survived the apocalypse. Men are as dangerous as the reanimated dead and will just as soon kill you as look at you. No one can be trusted.
Except for Big Bob. There is nothing like having a friend, a big friend, during the end of days.

Okay, so Jason Brant is going back to the zombie apocalypse. I am so there! Big Bob is a bit of a departure from what I am used to from a Jason Brant book. Gone is the witty banter, but there is a lot of punch packed into this little package.
Our hero has been surviving on his own for a year or so, avoiding the zombies and other survivors - who are even more dangerous. Then one day, he meets Bob, Big Bob as he calls him, for obvious reasons.

A short story must get off the ground running to be considered a success. It's not like a novel which can take it's time and introduce the plot and characters slowly. It has to grab your attention immediately either through it's characters or plot. Big Bob does just that and even goes the extra mile with a sense of style in it's words. I was hooked from the first line. Jason Brant has a talent for telling outstanding stories with rich characters, a kickass plot, lots of humor and twists that can

Well I didn't see that coming!
Brant does such a great job setting a mood in so short a time. Everything about Big Bob screams gray and black, dirty, gritty, dystopian hopelessness. It's a wonderful job of subtly laying it out, rather than 'the sky is a bleak gray and I am filthy'.
Like other reviewers I read it a second time with a big grin. ...more

This is a very short story written by one of my favorite horror writers. A man is traveling by himself until he meets up with Big Bob. It is well written with no grammar or spelling errors, although I wished it could have been longer.
Big Bob is just a small taste of the talent of Jason Brant. You will love it, and all of his other works.

Dang, that ending was a heart breaker. This short story also has a good twist at the end. Yep, I'd recommend this story and author.

"JASON BRANT" is an anagram for Bas Trojann, a former Bigfoot hunter who, after being abducted (and subsequently returned) by aliens, decided to hang up his ghillie suit and enter the world of professional arm wrestling. Despite back-to-back first place finishes in the South Dakota World International Championship League, Bas receded from athletics to invent cheese and give Al Gore the initiative
