What you've learned about praying may be your biggest hindrance to a natural, enjoyable prayer life - one that matches your preferred ways of communicating. This book can help you discover the ways, places and times to pray that best suit your personality and your changing needs.
I found this book a nice companion whilst on a personal retreat. The central message of the author is that there's no one "correct" means or method of prayer that is "best" or right for all people, but rather different prayer types fit best with different personality preferences.
She says it's important to remember that difference doesn't mean deficiency.
She does go on to say though that once you have discovered the prayer practices that best fit you and developed in them, the route to growing maturity is to explore and try out different types that stretch you.
Overall a balanced, warm book full of practical ideas.
As usual, everything needs to be "tested" and see that it's Biblical. While I may not care for icons and such things, I understand the author's intent on suggesting that some items such as those work for some people in regard to prayer. Overall, a very helpful and practical book on prayer. I have read many but not kept loads, this one I shall because it's worth re-reading.
