4.5 - "I set the fires and you put them out." Stars!

The first book in Melissa Cutlers’ One and Only Texas series delivers a sweet, sexy read, that also sets up the town and people of Dulcet, Texas really well.

I think the first thing that stands out about One Hot Sumner is the scope that the author has in relation to expansion on the series, bearing in mind that you have the townsfolk of Dulcet in the equation for one, you also have the staff and Members of the Briscoe Ranch Resort in the mix too

I think Melissa Cutler is an underrated writer. I have been a fan of Ms. Cutler since her Catcher Creek books and this is my third series written by her. I would love to see her recognized more for her outstanding writing. One of the things I admire most about this author is her ability to write alienated characters with depth, sympathy, and in this book, tons of humor. Remedy Lane is a highly regarded wedding planner. She is also famous f

One Hot Summer is the first book in Melissa Culter's One and Only Texas series. This is also the first book I've read by this author and I am definitely looking forward to reading more from her. Ms. Culter brings us to the town of Dulcet, Texas, home of the Briscoe Ranch Resort where the stuff of wedding dreams are made possible to the rich and famous.

Remedy Lane was a wedding planner to the stars before a scandal caused her to lose her job in Hollywood. She thinks the Briscoe Ranch Resort is th

This was (mostly) delightful! Every aspect of this was full of win, though with some unfortunate lapses.

The main couple was strong and fit together very well. It's one of those relationships where each needs the other on multiple levels. Yeah, there's chemistry, but there's also both emotional and mental ties where they push each other to be better than they'd be alone. I particularly liked the contrast in their backgrounds and the prejudices each must confront as a result. Remedy has famous and

I was so excited when I found out Ms. Cutler was coming out with another small-town contemporary read. I’ve really missed her writing in this genre. I was even more excited that this was in the same world as The Mistletoe Effect which was released late of 2014. Set in a small town setting, Ms. Cutler made One Hot Summer a sweet and sexy read.

Remedy Lane is the daughter of two famous celebrities and has been living the Hollywood lifestyle working as a wedding planner. After a bad scandal giv

The first installment in Melissa Cutler's newest series, One and Only Texas, One Hot Summer is a humor-filled, sexy novel. This opposites attract love story is an entertaining and captivating read that fans of contemporary romances are going to love.

After a scandal ruins her celebrity wedding planning career, Remedy Lane accepts a position as a special events manager at a luxury resort in Texas. Hoping to return to California once the publicity dies down and she redeems her tarnished

In One Hot Summer, Melissa Cutler has managed to bring two people running from their past together, to find a future and love worth fighting for.

Remedy Lane is the child of two Hollywood powerhouse celebrities. She’s accustomed to staying in the background, and being a wedding planner allows her to do that. Unfortunately, her last Hollywood celebrity wedding didn’t go so well and now the press and Hollywood itself have turned on her. Wanting to reestablish herself and return to Hollywood better

Melissa Cutler's is a new-to-me author -- I see that she has written several books previously but I decided to try her latest one. Besides, it's the start of a new series and I figure if I like it, it will be easier for me to follow through.

Well, hell, I think I made the right choice because One Hot Summer is HIGHLY entertaining! I immediately LOVED Remedy, yep, just as soon as she maneuvered the golf cart to stop "a rampage" elephant named Gwyneth *LOL*. Yeah, someone who doesn't lose her cool

I loved One Hot Summer!

What a fun, well written & entertaining One Hot Summer turned out to be. My interest was captured from the first page and held until the end.

Loved the lead characters Remedy and Micah, they made me laugh, swoon, frustrated and swoon again.
For me these two opposites ticked all the boxes, from the first meeting the attraction & sexual tension was clearly visible to the reader and it never stopped.
I enjoyed watching their relationship develop and loved how intense

One Hot Summer is one of the best books I read this year and I liked that ,Remedy Lane, off spring of Hollywood royalty did not let a scandal in Hollywood deter her from a job that she loved when she took an assignment as wedding planner in a Texas resort! I admired her for wanting to not her dad's name open doors for her and I giggled at the elephant that had a fetish for the golf course!

If I'm not mistaken, Melissa Culter is a fairly new author on the scene. I have to say this first book I've read by her, is not too shabby. I really got into it at first but further in the book started to drag for me and then picked back up near the ending.

When Remedy first comes to the small Texas town of Dulcet, she looks down her nose at the way things are there. She does it unknowingly really because she has convinced herself that she's giv

This is the first book in a new series by Cutler and since I just finished it I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was different and I really loved the ideas that took place in this book.

Remedy is a wedding planner who fled to Texas after her job and reputation tanked in Hollywood after a scandal. She also happens to be the daughter of two very high profile actors. Remedy is just here to get her reputation back on track but what she didn't plan on was not only falling for the town but finding

Loved this book. Not my usual read, but so worth it.

Remedy is a spitfire of a city girl. Fun, sassy and will stand up for herself. Even if she's a total klutz. She's hardworking and persistent. One of the things I like most about her is she took the hard road even though she didn't have to. A cushy life could've been had but instead she got sweaty and the Texas heat.

Micah is a good ol country boy. No, make that man. Proud of his self proclaimed redneck status. A man who will stand his

An enjoyable start to a new romantic comedy series centered on a luxury resort known for extravagant weddings in a small east Texas town.

I think one of the things that make this small town rom com a little different is not everyone in the town likes the resort and the town doesn’t seem to be benefiting from it. That doesn’t mean there weren’t some great kooky secondary characters cause there were.

The two main characters are complete opposites but immediately chemistry. Remedy Lane grew up with

Remedy Lane is a wedding planner to the stars and a Hollywood celeb in her own right. But a scandal sends her packing and in need of a job to rebuild her reputation. The Briscoe Ranch Resort seems like a great place to do just that. Then, when she’s re-established herself, she can return to Hollywood with her head held high. I really enjoyed this book which is the beginning to what should be a fun new series. Set in small town Texas, there is a cast of characters that were hilarious with history that can only be found in small towns. Remedy Lane is new to Dulcet having fled Hollywood after a wedding scandal implodes her event planning career. She is working at the famous Briscoe Ranch as the wedding planner. She's funny, determined, and just a bit scary in a golf cart. When the Ranch's anything goes philosophy has h ...more

I loved the story in this book. Even though you start reading, knowing that everything's going to be all right, I'm always amazed at the depth of character and quality of story that I read. This one is no exception to that rule.

This was a very fun book that had me hooked from the first few pages. It's an opposites attract, city girl/country boy story full of fun, chemistry, and emotion. Remedy is a California girl, daughter of two famous Hollywood personalities, who had a terrific job as an event planner until a high-profile wedding went disastrously wrong. Now she's working at a Texas resort as their event coordinator, just until she can repair her reputation and go back home. The only fly in the ointment is fire chie ...more

My Review:
The premise of this book is pretty fun. Micah is the fire marshal and he's very strict when it comes to the Briscoe Ranch. They already caused one devastating fire 24 years before. He won't let that happen again.

Remedy is the new event planner with no real idea of the quagmire she is walking into at the Briscoe Ranch. There's very much a feeling of a separation between the elitist's at the Ranch and the working class of the town. This is not a town all working toward the best for the

One Hot Summer started out as a great engaging, flirty, romantic, at times very steamy read. I loved Remedy, the feisty, sassy heroine and the witty banter/sizzling chemistry between her and Micah, the sexy, handsome, good guy, toothpick chewing fire chief hero. Unfortunately, the momentum did not last. About 60% into, I realized I was still waiting for something significant to happen outside the overly done conversations regarding the worry these two lovebirds had about being in a relationship. ...more

One Hot Summer by Melissa Cutler will heat readers up faster than a match tossed on a bale of hay. Inside the hot, sexy, and addictive read, readers will be intrigued from the beginning. The characters may come from opposite worlds and may differ in how they handle things but their personalities, passion, and desire burn hotter than coals. It's hot summer and one determined wedding planner keeps casuing one problem after another. It's no wonder both her and the fire chief can't get along. The se ...more

Melissa Cutler does cowboys like no other writer. I loved her romantic suspense stuff, but it is with cowboys that she really shines. One Hot Summer takes us back to the Briscoe Ranch, home of the Mistletoe Effect. At its heart, this book is about finding your own way. We are all aliens at one point or another, the key is figuring out how to fit into your surroundings while still finding a way to shine. Remedy does that and more as the new wedding planner. Her klutzy tendencies bring chaos to Mi

This is the first in a new series and also the first time I have read this author. I have to say at first I wasn't really sure I liked the characters but it didn't take long before that changed. Remedy and Micah are about as different as two people can be but yet their chemistry is off the charts. No one expects Remedy to stay in Texas, everyone including Remedy thinks she will head back to LA once she re-establishes her career. However, it seems that Texas may have just what she needs most. This book started off kind of slow and I really wasn't all that into it...seems to be a trend lately for me where stories just seem so pedestrian that I wonder why I picked it up. Once again I was happily surprised when about 1/3 of the way in the story took off into a really good story. I LOVED Granny June and the way Cutler had Remedy grow through the story was really well done. Fantastic read. Definitely one you want to add to your TBR...toward the top.
