“He wanted to own her, possess her and the, when he had his fill, he would walk away as he always did.”
This was a sexy erotic romance, with the added danger of an assassin thrown in.
I liked both Kristen and Devon in this story. Kristen wasn’t well versed when it came to sex and BDSM, but she was open to learning more, and happy to let Devon be her teacher.
“I wasn’t you to wear the sexiest dress or skirt that you own and no underwear. And I mean no panties or bra, Pet. You will go to dinner like that. If you disobey me on this, I’ll take you into the women’s restroom and remove them myself. Understood?”
The sex in this was really steamy, and Devon and Kristen really worked well together. There was an added bit of danger with the assassin on the loose, and lots of fun as Devon showed Kristen what BDSM was all about.
“And you’re thirteen minutes late, so I think that calls for thirteen smacks. It’s a decent amount for your first spanking.”
The ending to this was good, but I would be interested to find out if the next book in the series follows the same characters? 7 out of 10
I love a good BDSM novel with an actual plot! This was great. Although I will say that it was VERY similar to Lexi Blake’s Master’s and Mercenaries. I won’t say that this series is plagiarized, but there were QUITE a few similarities.
Both series are about retired Navy Seals officers, with two brothers leading the group. The brothers retire from the Seals and with their CIA/FBI/government contacts start a security agency. The brothers are also Doms and owners of a BDSM. In both series the oldest brother’s name is Ian.
There were enough differences to make this book interesting though. The smexy scenes were HOT and the overall plot was engaging.
DNF. 18% This is NOT a sexy book about bdsm, this read like a bdsm instruction manual. If you ever want to be completely turned off bdsm and kink in general, then this is for you. I’m a big fan of a well researched book but you have to use all the knowledge you glean and insert it into your book organically. It has to make sense to the plot, otherwise you are just info dumping. I’m pretty sure this author copy and pasted a lot of chapter five right from Wikipedia. That and the FMC was an innocent, naive, doormat who seemed about 21 years old and yet she was a 30+ divorced romance novelist. And we got so much background info on every single character that was completely unnecessary. Did this author have to boost a word count? Maybe the delete button was broken on her keyboard? This book was dry as toast and plodded along like an ancient draft horse. The narration was droning and felt like they were just reading a book report out loud. This could be because they had such shit content to work with, as I’ve heard Gunnar before and didn’t find him this coma-inducing. Yuk. I don’t always rate a DNF, but for this I think it needs to be done so others can be forewarned. This book is only good for insomniacs who want to read a reference manual on bdsm. Anyone else, run far away.
Devon, a pump & dump Dom, never even consideres a "normal" monogamous long-term relationship until he meets Kristen. Kristen had been a typical fade-to-dark romance novelist until the money and intrigue whisks her away into writing about the BDSM lifestyle. Her forwardness in asking Devon out, before knowing who he really is, takes them both on a seductive journey of crossing each other's boundaries and caring for each other as neither thought was possible. Threaded throughout the story is the lone assassin who's determined to pick the old Seal Team off one by one, or otherwise, if required.
A titillating love story with steamy scenes throughout. (And, oh by the way, can I say how much I love Carter? The one-named mystery man who's as handy with his gun as he is with his other gun ... what's not to love?)
And, by the way, I don't know when the cover changed, but may have been at some point while I was reading. The new one is crazy hot! (I'm slow with Samantha Cole like I'm slow with my bourbon. I want to savor every moment.)

STORY: I liked Kristen’s and Devon’s story. It was appealing reading she is a romance author who knows nothing about the BDSM lifestyle and gets a little more than what she asked for when she meets Devon. Kristen is divorced and living her dream of writing erotic books. I liked her innocence and the way she met Devon. Devon was so masculine and sexy. Love that he is ex SEALS turn BDSM club owner; they make the best Doms when reading these books. With all the sexual chemistry thrown in, mix with a bit of mystery/suspense with a killer and I had a good read.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY: No complaints with sexual build up and chemistry between Kristen and Devon. I was satisfied and enjoyed myself.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS: Love that this series is set up around Devon’s ex SEAL brothers/friends. We got to see them and be introduced to them, so that spikes up the appeal to read the next book in the series.
OVERALL: No complaints, really enjoyed it.
TRIGGERS: none
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
"Leathers and Lace"( Trident Security#1), is Samantha Cole's first book in which she introduces us to the men of Trident Security , all former Navy seals , that have formed their own security agency. Three of them are also co-owners of an Elite BDSM club in Tampa " The Covenant" and of course not only are they owners but they are all Dom's.
"Leathers and Lace ", gets five sizzling stars , I loved the story's plot line and two main characters and I can not wait t see who Ms. Cole picks for her next book in the series!
You are introduced to Kristen Anders , recently relocated to Tampa after divorcing her slime ball cheating husband; Kristen is a popular vanilla romance writer, that the douche of an ex thought was a hobby and not a real career, but she really hit the big time when even more so when she wrote her first bdsm based romance. Now Kristen is under the gun to write the second book but unsure which Character from the first to make the lead male character, she decides to get a changeof scenery and goes to a local pub called Donovan's , which just became her favorite place since the end of the bar is sporting a super sexy six pack of men and one of them is the image of the Dom that she has been considering making the lead in book two.
Devon Sawyer aka "Devil dog" is sitting with his buddies when he spots the beautiful brunette in the booth eyeing him, and he finds himself attracted to her but he is not in to dating, he can not be bothered with doing all the relationship stuff, any relationships he has are initiated at the club with a set time limit and just sex. However when he thinks his freind Boomer is hitting in her and asking her out he gets a little jealous. Kristen since coming into Donavans has been able to get a lot of writing done, especially with the inspiration sitting at the end of the bar, that is until her computer looses the two chapters she just wrote , luckily for her one f the sexy six turns out to be a computer geek and retrieves her file for her, unfortunately it is not the sexy dark haired blue eyed god she can not keep her eyes off.
The next time she gets to Donavan's she runs into Devon, and determined to finally go after something she wants , she takes the chance and asks him out on a date, which Devon , thinking his buddy Boomer is seeing her; he starts to decline, until Kristen clears up that misconception , they set a dinner date for the next day.
Kristen , is excited she has her date with Devon later and she finally is gettting the opportunity thanks to one of her Beta readers to actually tour " the Covenant" as part of her book research and while touring with the owner Master Mitch she is surprised ,actually stunned to run into Devon there and more so stunned to discover he is a Dom also.
These, two have an incredible chemistry together and when Kristen agrees to put herself in the hands of Master Devon and doing so opens herself to some of the best sex of her life, but she has to agree to one weekend only. But , will one weekend be enough?
Luckily for Krosten it turns out that one weekend is not enough for Devon , and she is more than willing to continue exploring the sub life. As part owner of Trident security and The Covenant duty calls with Trident when fellow x seals start being murdered and the government thinks that Devon and the rest of the former seal team # 4 are in danger. Devon finds himself second guessing the extends relationship with Kristen , afraid that she may wind up in the assasians cross hairs by association.
Can Devon allow himself to love? Will an assasian cost him that chance? Will he loose Any of his buddies?
Ms. Cole has written a wonderful story, with sizzling sex scenes, sexy doms and a gripping sub plot that keeps ou guessing till near the end. I would recommend this book if you like sexy dominant navy seals, Erotic bdsm scenes and a bit if mystery and suspense. I loved this book and could not put it down!
Arc graciously provided by author for an honest review!
Only three words! I ADORE IT!! I literally couldn’t put it down and this can be easily proved from the fact I finished it in exactly 12 hours! I just got totally sucked up by it……. This story is a no-brainer 10-golden-stars story!
Every single chapter was a new amazing adventure. A very enjoyable and irresistible adventure. I was constanlty on edge because i hadn’t any idea what would come next. It was like I was in a constant high and I loved it! It was the best introduction of the Trident Security men Cole could ever write. Each one was and is a gem from heaven that I couldn’t and can’t get enough of and really, I don’t want to.
In this first installment of this series we get to know Devon Sawyer aka Devil Dog and Kristen Anders. Devon is one of the men who’s running Trident Security and the BDSM private club The Covenant. Kristen is an author who, although is writing romance novels, has made a turn in her writing and now tries to write the sequel in her new BDSM series after the success of its first book.
So, in a twist of Fate, she ends up basing her research on this club and how it works. But, she has no idea what the future has in store for her and soon she finds herself in a much more different place than the one she was at the start. And Devon is a very big big part of it and no one is capable to predict what is going to happen next and in the end between them. Plus, when they are together, they are soooooooo damn steamy that you need to go to Alaska to cool off!! No kidding!! :p
Devon and Kristen are two very intense characters with dynamic personalities who, during the evolution of their relationship, are coming face to face with some also extremely intense situations. It’s, honestly, a great delight to read how they deal with them and what emotions these situations bring out in them!!
Although, this is Samantha Cole’s first book, I have to say that she’s a very promising author with some very wonderful writing skills. Her future books are, definitely, going to be big successes and I can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeve for us.
Leather & Lace is a book that R O C K S and I undoubtly recommend it! Go and check it out!! You won’t regret it! I definitely didin’t. ;)
If you are BDSM theme lover it will be too light read for you. Sex scenes are ok but mostly they are vanila or light BDSM. The best sex scene was at the end (93% of the book). And if you are suspense reader...it'll still be too light read for you. Main problem for me in this book was rushed plot development, especially toward the end of it. There were too much monologues and because of that conversations were dry and monotonous. Some scene weren't believable and I couldn't feel them. For example when Devon is telling Kristen about his brother John, it should have been most emotional scene, I, reader should have been crying but... nothing ( and even commercials can make me cry ). Characters were ok but... it felt like they were one dimensional. They weren't deep enough for me.there wasn't any growth, change, and internal conflict carried out in them. You know that feeling when you think book H/h are your bestest friends? I didn't have it after reading it. POV- It changes from third person to Kristens and then to Devons and this makes everything little confusing and tiresome. All in all the whole book was Okay read but it left me with the feeling of ...unfulfillment. It felt as if something was missing, something wasn't said or done. but seeing as it's authors first book, I hope she will soon grow and her next books will be much better :) I wish her all the best :)
3.5 RATING- A decent read and one that may rate higher for those than can appreciate a guilty pleasure BDSM-lite story line. I admit BDSM stories aren't my favorite but I enjoyed this one well enough. Several characters introduced that I assume will be leads in future books. Was able to borrow through Kindle Unlimited. Would definitely read more in this series but may not be at the top of my TBR list.

No. Questo a Kristen non sarebbe mai successo, ne era convinta.
DNF at the end of chapter 6 (of 24 chapters total). It was soooooooo slow-moving. Chapters 1 and 2 were total info-dumps and even after that, as the story continued into chapter 6, the author continued to include so much irrelevant information. Isn't it bad enough that when I go on a date I have to make meaningless small talk, now I have to suffer through my characters making small talk too? Like, CUT TO THE CHASE, woman. Do I need to know all of both their family history?! No, no I do not.
Also I did not like Devon saying that he would give Kristen one spank for each minute she turned up late for his date. She's not his sub, she hasn't agreed to play, in fact they can't play at the club anyway, so I feel it's premature. You just do not do that on the first date, especially not with someone who's new to the lifestyle and hasn't experienced it yet -- moreover, someone you haven't even had a chat with about limits and what she would like to try and so on. Safe, sane, and consensual, my ass. She hasn't said no, she's intrigued by the thought and responds to him as a dom, but there must be explicit consent, no assumptions.
He threatened to put a ball gag on her at the club when she was visiting for research and a tour, just because she had some questions when he interrupted the tour. It is normal to have questions. He says he likes BDSM and being a dom because of the psychological manipulations; well, I dislike manipulators. He was not supposed to restrain her arms or threaten her with the ball gag, because again, they hadn't agreed that they would play. He's just coming on way too strong; I know she's attracted and curious, which is why she hasn't told him to go to hell, but it still doesn't feel safe to me. He's the one who knows the lifestyle and he could pull her in so deep and so fast she wouldn't know where she stands, so he has the responsibility to take it slowly and carefully, and make sure she knows what she's getting into. I did NOT like him, and could not read further.
This was a freebie I picked up, and color me surprised, it was really good! New author to follow. This is a romantic suspense book. Heavy on the romance and suspense. Equal parts kink with hot ex navy seals with the right amount of romance to not make it seem harsh. With the added suspense make this a very good first read by this author. The story is good, the characters all amazing. I hope the other guys get their own story because damn they are one hot "sexy-six pack "of guys! What's not to love when 6 hot guys treat their "niece" like a queen and have each others back through thick and thin! Buy this book !
3*s Although I liked the story aspect of the book, I wished there had been more because the sexytime scenes were so long winded that I didn't find it hot at all and they took up a big chunk of the book. I don't mind a bit of BDSM in my romance but it felt uncomfortable to read for some reason, just didn't push my buttons. I liked the characters, the story and even where the danger came from but the sexytime was just off for me and brought the tone of the book down so much that I ended up skimming those scenes more or less straight away. Oh and I'm not into sharing either.
Wow!! I could not put this book down!!! This is my first book by Samantha A. Cole and all I can think is how fast can I start the next book. Leather & Lace, book 1 of the trident series is everything you could want in a BDMS book. Kristen makes the readers want to be her as well as everyone wants to have a man like Devon in their bed. The rest of the characters in the book are incredible and I cannot wait to hear each and every one of their stories.
This book was good, but not as good as I'd hoped! I really liked the characters and the story line was good, but it seemed to be rushed! I can't put my finger on it, but it just felt like for the intensity of the story line it didn't live up to its potential! Also, for a BDSM book it was pretty mild! I hope the series gets better because I really like the characters!!
HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! Damn, I had to take a cold shower after reading this book! Love the vivid descriptions and the explanations regarding the BDSM world. And the way Devon commanded her made me want to drop to my knees. I love how intense and honest Ian is with Kristen. Overall great story and can't wait to move on to #2!!
I picked up this series based on a trusted Twitter mutual and holy moley I've followed it down the rabbit whole. If you are in the market for some huge ex-Navy SEALs who are called the "Sexy Six-Pack" for many reasons, including that they now own a BDSM club in Florida on top of their private security firm, go forth and one-click.
The first book in the series features Devon who helps introduce and falls in love with Kirsten, a romance novelist who decides to try BDSM for real to help her writing.
Super hot, I appreciated the consent a lot, and there is a good dog.
CW for past assault, violence, guns, physical violence.
This reminded me a lot of Masters & Mercenaries by Lexi Blake, a series that I absolutely love. The BDSM club, the military men that create a security firm, the tight family... I loved M&M so I loved this as well. It felt familiar and it was easy to read.
This was the first book by Ms Cole that I have read and it most definitely won't be the last. I really enjoyed it! There is nothing I would want changed. It held my attention from start to finish.
Kristen and Devon are the main characters. Kristen is a young writer who is known for her vanilla romance novels but has recently written a bestseller BDSM book and is looking to write a follow up. She's looking for more information on the lifestyle and decides to take a tour of a private BDSM night club called The Covenant.
Going to stop here and move on to Devon for a bit.
Devon is an ex Navy SEAL and a Dom in the BDSM lifestyle with no intentions of having a long term relationship. He first meets Kristen when she walks into his friends bar, where his "niece" also works. His niece is a fan of the writer which makes it easy for him to meet her, except it makes for an awkward meeting... He and Kristen are both intrigued with one another but neither knows how to go about it. She's recently divorced and shy while he is a Dom and is sure he would be too much for her to handle.
Now back to the club... While on the tour she runs into one of the owners who is non other than, Devon... Master Devon..and from there it's on!
I enjoyed the story, I think this author has great potential and I will read the next in the series. I did have some issues though.
The point of view was third and first, switching between Kristen and Devon. Sometimes I would get confused as to who I was reading because it would switch from him to her, back to back. The other was that this book really didn't grab me. It was a good concept and while I thought the book was good, it lacked emotion. When you read a book it should make you feel the emotions it's trying to portray.
Like I said before, I think this author has great potential, the book is worth a read and I will read the next in this series, but it needs to have a bit of maintenance. (for lack of a better word) 3.5 stars
I adore military stories and Trident Security introduces us to the Sexy Six Pack.
In Leather and Lace we meet Kristen and Devon. Devon is a former Navy seal that has retired and started a security business with several of his Seal brothers. Kristen is an author, who is recently divorced from her unfaithful cheating husband that has her convinced that she is the reason that he cheated. She was not good at sex. She takes a risk and turns from her vanilla books and writes a BDSM book. It is a success and now she needs to write her next story. She moves to Tampa for a new start and needing inspiration and a change of scenery she goes to Donovan's. Boy does she find inspiration in a group of sexy men standing by the bar. Kristen is drawn to Devon. He is the perfect image of the Dom that she wants to write about. She can't stop peeking at him but she looks down so he doesn't notice.
Devon, notices Kristen and finds himself fascinated by the brunette but he does not date and doesn't do relationships. He only initiates relationships with women at the Covenant BDSM club and it is just sex.
Kristen returns to the Bar and bumps into Devon and asks him on a date. She is going to meet him the next night but first she has some research and her Beta Reader got her a tour of the Covenant. While there who does she see but Devon and he is a Dom. Can she find hot sex, Can he let her go after a weekend of the best sex he ever had? Add a killer that is after the Sexy Six Pack and the story will keep you up reading to find out...
Leather & Lace is such an appropriate title for this book by Samantha A. Cole. This book about Devon and Kristen is all about the innocence of Kristen and the world weary Navy Seal Devon. Hence the Leather & Lace distinction. It is also appropriate for the BDSM lifestyle that is core to the story.
When Kristen get divorced from her cheating husband she believes she has no interest in sex and she isn't very good at it anyway. She decides she doesn't need or want a man in her life anymore. She moves to Tampa to start a new life with new people around her. The only romance she time for is in the novels she writes. When she meets Devon for the first time she is stunned by her instant sexual attraction to him. Devon a self proclaimed bachelor is knocked off his feet by his jealous feelings every time a man comes within 10 feet of her.
Samantha A Cole can totally wrap a reader up and keep them entertained with her amazing attention to detail and back story. You care about these characters and they are totally believable. This story is a roller coaster ride of suspense, assassins, death, lust, and attraction all rolled into one hot steamy romance story. If you like alpha men with strong military backgrounds who live the BDSM lifestyle and the strong independent sassy women they love Samantha Cole is the author for you. Her books are standalones and always end with a HEA.
Kristen Anders and Devon Sawyer meet and the sparks fly right away. The second time they meet - Kristen asks him out. He is shocked, since he thought his buddy had already made a play for her.
Kristen is starting over in a new city. Newly divorced, she is trying to break out of old habits. Being with someone she actually wants to spend time with is one way to be different.
Devon is a former SEAL, who is a partner in several businesses. He owns part of a security firm and BDSM club. He is immediately attracted to Kristen. She is different, and makes him want to change his routine as well.
Together, they are explosive. He quickly learns he wants to be with her all the time. She learns fast that she can trust him to make her feel like a real woman. He wants to take care of her. She wants to be there for him also.
What starts out as something very casual quickly becomes more. At the same time - there is someone gunning for members of former SEAL team. A very real threat that may harm anyone he cares about.

This book was just amazing, from the way the story was written to the main characters and even the secondary characters, it was easy to fall in love with each and every one of them.
Kristen is a famous author starting on her next book in her not so vanilla romance book, and needing a change in scenery to write she heads to a local pub where she lays eyes on the sexy six pack, love that she name them that all I think about are some amazing abs, but she only has eyes for mr tall dark and handsome and he eyes for her. Devon is his name and he is more than meets the eyes, he is a part owner of a BDSM club and once he realizes that his friend does not have the hots for her, Devon takes the plunge and asks her on a date, even though he has never done just a date.
Kristen needing to do research for her book, she sets up a tour of the closet BDSM club, just to find out the Devon owns it, little does she know that he will eventually own her.
I loved this story of Kristen and Devon, but will they both survive when there is someone after some of the sexy six pack?
Kristen is a romance author writing about a BDSM club. Devon and his “brothers” own both a private security firm and an elite BDSM club. Kristen and Devon meet at a cafe owned by one of Devon’s guys. Kristen obtains a private tour of the club, unknowingly by one of Devon’s partners. Devon’s shocked to see her there…and proceeds to handcuff her to the wall and reads through her notes and a soft/hard limits sheet she’d started filling out for fun. THEN, he keeps calling her Pet and confirms that they are still going on the date they’d previously scheduled.
Kristen shows up late to the date and Devon says she’s earned 13 spanks for being late. The whole beginning of this book went on and on about having “safe, sane and consensual” BDSM relations…but Devon handcuffed her without her permission…calls her Pet when they barely know each other….and he was serious about the spanks. Even though they have no BDSM contract in place and nothing has been discussed.
The third person POV added to how much the story dragged as well because there was a LOT of set up for all the other characters that will soon get their own books. This book overall didn’t work for me!
Oh my holy jesus! This book is seriously hot! I flove the main characters, Devon & Kristen had it going on from the very beginning. Their chemistry was palpable and had me hooked from the start. The secondary characters are fab as well even though it did take me a while to get used to them all seeing as there's so many of them! The story line was fab and unique in its own way. Some parts were filthy dirty, some were hilariously funny and some were gut-wrenchingly holding-my-breath moments. I loved reading it from the different perspectives including the bad guy's. The ending was just perfect, wrapping up all the unanswered questions with a pretty little bow to give me the warm and fuzzies. A few little typo's crept their way in but didn't distract from the story at all. Hopefully there'll be more in this series concerning the other guys because this is yummier than peanut butter on toast!
