I would like to say two things about this book:

1.) The scientist is not working on a love potion. She is "mixing different chemicals in her lab" when Mr. Kitty knocks a purple liquid off the shelf and into a pink liquid. This accidental combination creates the strange pink mist that causes everyone to fall in love.

2.) The problem is not solved by the predominately male construction crew. The scientist creates the cure in her lab with help from the foreman (whose input appears to be limited to pouring). These two then spray the antidote over the town from a helicoptor piloted by the foreman's cousin. The pilot's gender is not revealed.

I read this to my grandson's first grade class near Valentine's Day and they laughed and loved it!

Seriously? Female scientist is of course working on a love potion and of course has a cat running around her lab. So of course the whole problem is her fault and solved by the male (okay with a single token female) construction worker crew. I mean, you *could* pack in more gender stereotypes, but it might require a crowbar.

I ordered this as a Valentine's Day gift for my niblings. They are into Lego and Construction. It's short and simple. By no means a work of great literature. It's kind of cool because it's like a graphic novel for very early readers so I like that it will expose them to something a little different. I read it through once and probably won't read it again.

K I actually really loved this book. I read it with PreK but it might be a little too old for them? It was funny though and they got some of the humour.

This is pretty hilarious, particularly the worker who falls in love with the port-a-potty.

This is a fun and amusing book for kids. My 5-year-old son loved this book. Cute.
