Michael Rodriguez and Nunzio Medici have been friends for two decades. From escaping their dysfunctional families in the working-class neighborhood of South Jamaica, Queens to teaching in one of the city’s most queer friendly schools in Brooklyn, the two men have shared everything. Or so they thought until a sweltering night of dancing leads to an unexpected encounter that ...more

So, this is my first non-ICoS related novel, and my first contemporary romance novel, which is simultaneously exciting and scary. You can get it from Amazon, All Romance eBooks, and of course the Dreamspinner website.

If you don't know what to expect, I can tell you this book is a mixture of things that are important to me. Family, teaching, the intensity of friendship and how that can change over time, sex, and of course New

Totally mourning the loss of Michael and Raymond Rodriguez today. Sad days.
Review and rating removed from every single thing SH ever wrote.

This is my first Santino Hassell book so I went in not knowing what to expect. I read Renee's review, which convinced me to read it, and braced myself for "raw and gritty" and some exceptional story telling.

Michael Rodriguez and Nunzio Medici have been inseparable friends for over 20 years. Nunzio is Michael's touchstone. When the world gets too crazy, Nunzio is the person who centers Michael and makes everything OK. They went to middle school, high school and college together and currently teac

For real. This book was constant emotional angst. I get the whole "not a lot of romance" bit now. There was some. Buried really really deep.

Nunzio and Michael just went through so much.

Their relationship was a bit dysfunctional yet I was sucked in and had to see what happened.

Lots of highs and lows. Two steps forward and about eight back. These two just could not catch a break.

I wish, wish, wish we had gotten Nunzio's POV. I felt so bad for him at times.

The sex. The sex was strai

My original review written back in May:

I'm going to review this closer to release date, but trust me, you ALL want to read this.

Now, since the book is releasing at the end of this week, a more in-depth review.

When Santino offered to let me read this book, I jumped at the chance--I had just confessed to him that I had DNFed his most well-known series because it was too violent for my tender sensibilities (seriously, I haz those)--but I did want to try his take on contemporary romance.

In addition

Making this short,
I went into this book needing something a little different. I wanted something more than your typical contemporary romance for a change.

I got it. It’s that simple, I got something different with Michael & Nunzio.
If you haven’t read this m/m book, do it. You are missing out. It's an amazing journey through life's ups and downs with a sweet HEA that leaves you wanting more. And this book has some sexy as sin m/m sex scenes that leaves you, well um sweating....

Okay, well my most issues with this story was that I wanted to know more about Nunzio and Michael’s relationship, albeit if best friends with benefits count as a relationship! Most of the story was about Michael’s problem with his family (especially his younger brother and his father), about his work and his demon. But I wanted to see more of Nunzio and Michael with each other! I needed to know more about Nunzio. It was like I didn’t know anything about him. I desperately needed his POV

4,5 stars for this book

Even if I really, really love Santino's writing style, I just couldn't give it 5 BIG stars. I expected this story to blow my mind more and to finish it in one standing, like I usually do.

The beginning of this book was very HOT and made me get so fast into the story. BUT then I was deflated by Michael's attitude and denial.

I loved Nunzio. You just can't stop falling in love with him. He was so supportive and patient, so sweet and tender with Michael.

It was an easy read,

Well, I guess you could take this as a “Sutphin Boulevard” review in a nutshell! ;-) Since I loved this book I’m going to write a longer review though. ;-)

First of all I’ve to admit that I actually never read a book like that! Yes, I confess that I’m sometimes a sucker for m/m-love stories and one or the other hot moment in a book. But nothing, really nothing was able to prepare me for the explicit sex scenes in this book. I read some good

Michael Rodriguez and Nunzio Medici have been friends for twenty years and currently they're both teaching in one of the city’s most queer friendly schools in Brooklyn. Most people assume they're sleeping together, because of how close and affectionate they are to each other, what isn't true until one day. After a threesome with a guy named David, their casual touches grow frequent and the sexual tension thickens between them.

Michael often finds himself seeking security and affection in

In theory, this book should have been a slam dunk for me. Lifelong friends to lovers, lots of angst, NYC, and scorching hot sex. But the family drama stumped me. Even so, I liked 'Sutphin Boulevard', but just not as much as I'd been expecting to.

If I was rating this book on Michael and Nunzio's relationship alone, I would give it 4 stars. Nunzio's quiet pining and hope was heartbreaking. Michael's obliviousness to it all was frustrating, but I could understand it. In his crappy life, the only go

So I read AFTER MIDNIGHT by Santino and I really liked it. It was dark and gritty and violent. The writing was excellent as well as the characterization, with some wry humor thrown in. So when he told me he was writing a contemporary romance and the MCs were teachers, I was intrigued. Because how would Santino's voice translate into contemp?

I shouldn't have doubted him, not at all. Because this book was fantastic. It was sexy and real and full of feels and heart. There was still Santino's voice

Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family but grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into a grumpy introvert and unlikely romance author with an affinity for baseball caps.
