This book inspired me to get a sewing machine that can handle sewing through three layers of suede. (I was in the market at the time!) I like to wear fabric jewelry, though not the specific projects in this book. It does seem like a good introduction, although be aware that a modern sewing machine is the basis of many techniques in the book.
