These essays were beautiful in their simplicity, and their nostalgia was heartwarming.

I really enjoyed this collection of essays--it took me a long time to read, but only because I would read an essay here or there during short breaks in the day. Although I'm not a native North Carolinian, I lived there for 8 years and loved it, and in this year since I've moved back to Maryland, I especially enjoyed reading "NC" essays.

I always read her essays in Our State, but I enjoy the novelty of them there more than I did one after the other in this collection.
