Sometimes the ghosts from your past…are real.

Moira claims to hear voices and is sent a psychiatric hospital. Her doctor is hesitant to treat her as schizophrenic, as she doesn't show typical symptoms. As their sessions progress, she confesses there are two voices—and they aren't voices in her head, but the voices of ghosts.

5 Brilliant Stars
I was intrigued by the description of this book, so I wanted to review this book. Boy am I glad. This book was one of those books that when you start you have to know what is going to happen. I was not able to put this book down. I love how the author added those twist in there, there were some OMG moments. Moira is hunted, she is followed by ghost. Without giving anything away, those ghost are tied to her for a reason. I thought the character growth was amazing

Clarissa Johal does it again....a strong author in the paranormal genre, Clarissa's latest effort is another winner. Well written and a great story that stays with you long after turning the last page. Good stuff!
Amanda Miller /A Bookaholic's Fix: Feeding the Addiction
Wow. That one word pretty much sums up my reaction to this book. Johal managed to suck me in from the first page and I did not want to put it down. I absolutely loved the concept–a woman sentenced to time in a psych ward for a crime committed by the ghost that haunts her, a doctor forced to rethink what he knows, people that may not be as crazy as they appear… pure genius.

The story was extremely well written. The plot was well developed; the intrigue and suspense kept me riveted. Reading the blu

Being haunted by two separate ghosts, Moira finds herself committed to a local mental health facility when of them decides to force her into violence. While there, the reader gets a fully developed explanation of who Moira is, who is attached to her, and why they are there. Moira's upbringing is less than ideal; until she and her brother were placed in the last foster home, there were problems aplenty. There is so much pain and tragedy and the author does an exceptional job of making them so rea ...more

VOICES is the story of Moira Flynn. Sentenced to a psych ward for a crime she didn’t commit, she’s being treated by Dr. Richard Cassano for what people believe is to be schizophrenia. However, Moira’s heard voices ever since she was young. During her ongoing treatment, she admits the voices aren’t in her head, but are two ghosts which are attached to her. One is a little girl, Isabella, and the other is Jack, a man who is intent on making Moira suffer the same fate he did. VOICES is beautifully ...more
Cheap and Lazy
First, I have to say that I like how the cover actually conveyed the mood and substance of the story, the title too. All of the main characters in this story are fully drawn, and even the bit players are consistent and realistic. That’s the thing about Ms. Johal’s characters, they are believable. Which makes the horror/paranormal elements believable (in this case, ghosts). I couldn’t help but put myself in Moira’s place (and it truly is a bad one). I felt sorry for her, and proud of her for bein ...more

I’ve read Clarissa’s books before and she just keeps surprising me. I had very high expectations with Voices, and I am not disappointed. This book had me hooked to it from the minute I met the characters and realized that one of the spirits is just a six-year-old little girl!
Moira is trying so hard to ignore the ghosts that became her every-day companions, just to find herself often feeling more comfortable in their presence than with “real people”. At least with them, she doesn’t have to preten

I was intrigued by the description of this book, and it did not disappoint. There is suspense, humor, paranormal activity and romance all in the same book. Moira has two ghosts attached to her, for very different reasons. In the hospital, she meets another patient who believes her, because he deals with ghosts as well. The experiences they have on the way to solving Moira's problems are engrossing, and you will find this book tough to put down once you start reading it. I look forward to reading ...more

When the voices in your head start to cause real-world damage...
First off, there are a few things about this book that had me attracted to it from the get-go. I’m obsessed with mental hospitals, particularly poorly run ones. This is due to a morbid curiosity that was sparked at an early age, possibly by reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest waaaay earlier than is recommended. Also, there’s just something about the concept of insanity, dreams, and creativity that intrigues me. One is not so far

Moira is an intelligent, vibrant protagonist. As children, both her and her younger brother were both wards of the state. Hidden deep within her are stories of traumatic events from her youth; stories that lead to spiritual attachments. Now, she's a professional architect who is troubled. When a door-to-door religious peddler comes to her door, her life is torn apart.

Moira finds herself committed in a mental hospital. She's stuck in a tug-o-war with mental health professionals who feel she's sc

A hidden gem! A thrill ride from beginning to end!

This was the first book I have ever read from this author. I was pleasantly surprised! I really loved it! I will definitely be reading more of this author's novels. The night I picked this book up and started reading it, I couldn't put it down. I wound up staying up way past my bedtime and finishing half of the book. It is one of those stories you will want to read in one sitting. I flew through this book very quickly.

I received an ARC from the author CLARISSA JOHAL-in exchange for an honest opinion. This is Mismousey’s very honest opinion of her book VOICES.

Having never read anything that Clarissa Johal has written. I was unsure of what to expect. But- I can say this- from the very first page of the book. You are held hostage! Voices is a edge of your page /seat read. You have to know what is going to happen next.

Ms. Johal is an exceptional author with her writing. When she takes her pen to paper- she create

First of all, I want to comment on the cover. it's perfect for this book. When I read the synopsis of this book, I knew I had to read it. I'm a sucker for books on mental illness and paranormal. Put them together and you have a recipe for a great book. I was not disappointed.

This psychological thriller was engrossing from the beginning. Moira, the main character, was thoroughly developed and I found myself completely mesmerized by her. I loved that Ms. Johal gradually led the reader into Moira's life, thoughts and history, telling just enough to bring the reader into the story but not too much which would have ruined the suspense. I will definitely read future books by this author and absolutely recommend this book to anyone who appreciates psychological thrillers c ...more
