This was another pretty strong entry into this series, though it was a bit more of a setup book than a major plot mover. The story is told from multiple PoVs, as the MC is still trapped on a planet that has been embargoed by the Alliant forces. So we get parts told from the Sheol's "crew" (mostly he's LIs) and parts told from the MC on the planet.
Unlike most setup books, quite a bit happens that furthers mid-major plot points. And the harem apparently grows some, though how much is uncertain by the end of the book. One potential LI doesn't survive the book, and I was never sure if she was actually going to join or not, so there's that.
If you like the previous books in the series, you're going to enjoy this one. Good sex scenes. Good character interaction. Good character development. Good pacing laying the ground work for some really cool fights that happen in the future while still keeping the pacing good. I really enjoyed the character development. This one really made the world that he was trapped on feel more three-dimensional can't wait till the next book comes out sometime mid-august hopefully.
Just got done reading book 4 and as usual I was hooked from beginning to end.cannot wait for book 5. Thank you again for being one of few authors in this genre that actually gives the characters depth and flaws instead of writing them like they come from the imagination of a hormone driven 15 year old teenager. Even though the next book is the finale I sincerely hope we possibly see more stories from the bedlam galaxy as with the backdrop woven it is ripe for more stories.
I continue to fall in love with all of the characters. You'd think that this many characters would get confusing or thin but if anything I've found the opposite to be true. Can't recommend the series enough... First time in a while I've enjoyed being home sick with a cold.
This is a fine fantasy harem adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like the Goth succubus. I anxiously await the author's next novel.
Lots of build up in this book, evolving abilities and lots n lots of points that can be threaded together in later books to great effect. Can’t wait for book 5.
4.5 stars. Could be alternately titled: "50 Shags of Greye"; a lot more bondage and stuff in this one than I'm really interested in, but the characters are good and the author doesn't feel the need for everyone to survive. No GoT level stuff, but enough to keep the stakes high. I think book 5 will get back to the more kinetic bits I prefer.
