Whoa! This was intense. And by “intense” I really mean...

addiction-inducing

despair-producing

anger-provoking

insomnia-inducing

Because HOLY HELL did this book do a number on me. It was a bit mentally and emotionally exhausting.

Everybody who knows me knows that I’m a hardcore angst addict. So whenever I see there’s a new book labelled as angsty I simply can’t resist. And this book contains enough angst to satisfy the biggest angst addict out there (myself included).

My heart aches, my senses are on overdrive. This book was filled with so much emotion, hate, healing and love. I truly loved every single page of this book! The author’s writing is flawless in so many ways. She blended the past and present perfectly and smoothly.

About the story, Reggie is monogamous and Nora is polyamorous. Not only that but also they both are stubborn, intense, hardheaded, alpha. So, what happens when these two fall in love? Reggie and Nora’s relationship is

*** SOUNDS GOOD!!! ***

I miss the days when she was just down the hall.

He’s better off without me, and it hurts.

The ugly truth is I need her more than she needs me.

Our relationship was born out of lust and curiosity.

We learned it was all a mirage.

I ruined him.

I broke her heart.

I keep coming back.

I can’t let her go.

Knot by M. Mabie is a highly addictive, intense, riveting, and emotionally consuming read that cuts you to the core that will leave you breathless and have you questioning why M. Mabie why must you leave us in knots. And a big part of me already knows the answer if you are familiar with her work, it’s because she can and will continue to deliver those love

Wow!
M. Mabie is one talented writer. I am in awe. This was... INTENSE!
She has wonderful writing skills and she created these really believable characters that are complex and memorable.
Let me tell you... this book will break you. You will question so many things after reading this...
This book truly blew my mind in every sense of the word.

Don't mind me. I'm just in a heap on the floor trying to recover from this book, from this knot Mabie wound around my heart and squeezed tighter and tighter with each page, each word, each beautifully strung line of dialogue.

I thought about saying this was "angsty". Then I laughed. Then I flipped through the thesaurus and was unable to locate a word that means more than "angsty" and sufficiently described Knot.

Reggie (*clutches heart*) and Nora are headstrong, infuriating, vulnerable, and

I should not be surprised but I am. From the summary and reviews I read I thought I was going to read a book about a woman who was proud of her sexuality and if the hero had sex with OP then she would too. After all, supposedly she does not want commitment and likes group sex. The hero is the one who supposedly want to be in a commited relationship and faithful. Guess what happens?
They are both full of hot air. She spouts that malarkey because she is afraid of being hurt and hopes to scare him

I want to start this review with a couple of words about M. Mabie. As you guys know she destroyed me royally when she put out Bait. DESTROYED.

I thought that after that I would be ready. That my heart would be ready. I WAS WRONG!

Because she came back with Knot and she tested me. She pushed me. She ruined me.

I don't think there are any words that I can come up with to let you know what this book did to me. But i'll try. It might hurt again. It might kill me. It might leave me in a puddle of mush

This book. Gah. This book. When I read a M. Mabie book, I always know it. Because she is the definition of what an indie author should be. This story was incredibly complex and different than anything I have ever read. The words were original and one of a kind. I found myself constantly on the edge of my seat because I had no earthy idea what was going to happen next.

Reggie and Nora both won me over so hard with their intricacies. These characters were so deep and both had so many things about

DNF 30%. I hate to do this especially when and ARC is provided but after a couple starts and stops, I think this one just wasn't for me. I had a hard time connecting to the characters. I didn't feel a pull to either of them or their struggles. I don't think it helped that the storyline was non-linear with changing dates in each chapter. As a personal preference that is usually one of the quickest ways for me to be unable to connect since I'm either rushing through sections to skimming.

Review by Lisa Kane

Where do I start with this book? I adored the Wake series and Knot has the same vibe as Bait. Two people who you know are perfect for each other, but life just keeps them apart. Knot has multiple emails that fill in much of the action and provide telling information about what is going on in the background.

Reggie Warren is 24 and he's Blake's brother, the heroine in the Wake series. Readers are familiar with him as he played a big role in that series. But now we see him as

Excerpt and #Giveaway of KNOT by M. Mabie!

As I watched the tears fall from her eyes—after I pushed into her for the very last time, filling her with everything I’d never told her—misery infected my gut.

Then, I felt the knot constrict.

We’d tangled the delicate thread between us too many times.

It tightened to a point of throbbing pain. I knew there’d never be a minute left in my life where I didn’t feel the ache of her. Her absence, the source of blinding tension. The sharp pulse of a love

I struggled with this book big time. It took me at least to the 30% mark to get into the story and I almost dnf’d 3 times. I felt the beginning of Knot was very confusing because so many things were unsaid and I couldn’t really tell what the major conflict was between Reggie and Nora.

Reggie is a monogamous kind of guy and is currently dating when he crosses paths with Nora. He can’t stop thinking about her and tries to pursue her. Nora is polyamorous and although she is attracted to Reggie she

This was an interesting read and a topic I've never read before. At the beginning it was confusing, but after a couple of characters, you get the dynamic between both characters and you get to feel the struggle, sadness and anxiety they feel. On one hand, the author makes a great job explaining why they feel like they can't be in a relationship with each other, and I understood it and was curious about how, and if, they were going to be able to do it.

However, the main 'problem' I had with this

4.5-5 tumultuous stars!

"When did we stop telling the truth?" I asked and took the towel she handed me. The moment held so much levity. There we were naked and clean, but still hiding behind excuses.
"When we fell in love," she answered. "I guess when you have something worth lying for, you'll lie to protect it. Even if it is just to yourself."

I'm not sure any passage has ever described a book as well as this one does. Reggie and Nora. Man, you knew their story would be a doozy. And with angst

This book has grabbed me by the throat LITERALLY, while I was reading this I felt as if I couldn't breathe.
I was literally sweating.

I'm blown away absolutely BLOWN. If you've read anything from Mo in the past like myself, prepare yourself because this book is not what your expecting. Mo Mabie, has created such an angsty, sexy, heart stopping, lose your breathe love story. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, I was yanked from my seat, pacing my room, heart pounding, unfucking believable.

Love was so unfair because withholding it felt like the only thing I could give her that was greater than myself.

This is my first book by M. Mabie and I did like her style of writing. There is a ton of angst in this story. It is about the cat and mouse relationship between Nora and Reagan. They both have different thoughts about relationships and doubt they are good for each other But yet they have such great chemistry and lots of passion when together but they just seem to fight it. That did

Favorite Quotes:

It was a power like I’d never known, and I was both greedy and grateful.

I hated how the moment had been spoiled – it had been among many other good ones that ended the same way. I’d been harsh with him. He’d been rude with me. But what happens in a lover’s quarrel when you have no arms left to swing with? No legs left to stand on?

You said not to start, and I didn’t. I know you don’t like answering any of my questions, but, then again, sometimes you do. I know you told me to shut

What a sexy, romantic, heart-stopping story!! Reggie is not your average contemporary romance hero. He has some serious anxiety issues which are described perfectly by M. Mabie. She writes a male POV like nobody's business! Reggie must have control always BUT he must also go very slowly when it comes to the gorgeous and elusive Nora. She is defintiely NOT looking for love, or even for a relationship. Instead, she practices a poly lifestyle, only interested in threesomes or multiple lovers at the ...more

Yet again, M. Mabie has torn me emotionally to shreds. Completely and totally exhausted from being thrown from one direction into the complete opposite. Knotted perfectly describes the feeling in my gut every time I had to turn the page of this book. I just didn’t know where I was going when I moved from one page to the next. Maybe I’d be happy and smiling. On the other hand I might be yelling “NOOOOOO” and fighting the urge to smash my kindle. Yes, it’s THAT kind of journey. There were

Knot is a standalone adult contemporary romance. It is a spin-off book from the Wake series.

This book features Reggie, Blake's brother (she is the main character in Bait, Sail, Anchor/The Wake Series).

Knot tells the story of Reggie and Nora. We got to meet them in the Wake series. This book goes back and forth between the past (2007-2008) and the present (2010). There are spoilers from The Wake series as a lot of the book happens at the same time as those books.

I was very excited to

Mo Mabie has got it going on with this series. With Knot being the beginning, I don't know how she is going to follow up with anything better. Reggie is an alpha strong character that will do anything to get what he wants. Then comes along Nora...and Nora doesn't take anything from ANYONE! Watching the two battle through what they thought they wanted and what they really wanted, oh my. In the description of this book, one word is used:

M. Mabie never disappoints. I think her writing gets better and better with every book. Reggie and Nora are broken and damaged and maybe they shouldn't be together but that didn't stop me from rooting for them the whole way through

Powerful.
Torment.
Fear.
Desire.
Friction.
Love.
Necessity.
Passion.
Brutal. These are some of the words that come to mind when I think of Knot. Exceptional is another. M. Mabie truly out did herself with Reggie's story. I'm such a fan of her work and I've come to depend on the kind of emotions her words elicit from me.

Let's start with a little back story. One of my favorite trilogies in all of the world is the Wake series. It is the story of Casey (God I love him) and Blake, who is Reagan's (Reggie)

M. Mabie lives in Illinois with her husband. She writes unconventional love stories and tries to embody "real-life romance."

She cares about politics, but will not discuss them in public. She uses the same fork at every meal, watches Wayne's World while cleaning, and lets her dog sleep on her head. She has always been a writer. In fact, she was born with a pen in her hand, which almost never
