All's fair in love and war, especially in the Deep South...
Savannah Hale never planned to come back to Maple Cove, Georgia. Her hometown has too many painful memories, especially of her high school sweetheart, who was killed during combat. And yet here she is...broken-hearted from her mother's death and left to deal with the Hale family legacy—Maple Cove's landmark bed and breakfast. In need of repairs and near foreclosure, she’s hanging on to the B&B by a thread. And the man out to buy it is the man she's never been able to forgive...or forget.
Former soldier Logan Park is haunted by memories of his own. Some are of his best friend. Others are filled with longing for the girl he could never have. Now Savannah is back, and their attraction can’t be denied. But Logan has already sacrificed everything to atone for his sins, and there’s no way he’ll let himself fall for a girl who might never love again.

I'll try to make this review quick, but this book just did not work for me. I heard of West's other novels and heard that they happened to be very good, so maybe this being my first work from her wasn't the best book of choice.
I found no connection to the characters. This felt like it should have been an emotional book, but instead whatever hope I had for some feels turned into a sort of anger.
The whole preparation for her mother's funeral dragged out for too many pages. I get that Savannah came home finally after so many years of isolating herself because her mother died. I honestly would have preferred the funeral to happen within one scene instead of a good part of the book. Maybe it's just me being uncomfortable and probably somehow my fault, but when I came into this book I was looking for romance.
Savannah and Logan have this deep link between them. Logan's best friend and Savannah's ex died in a line of duty and somehow Logan blames himself for it. To make matters worse, Logan had been in love with Savannah since he met her, but kept screwing that up because Will was his best friend, his family and he felt like he was in the wrong here. I did not feel that he was, what I did find odd is that somehow Logan was channeling Will and was sort of living Will's life how he would have wanted to. I found it odd and made me wonder if that's why Savannah got together with him in the end.
I did not like Savannah. She chose Will over Logan because of Will's perfect family and not because she was deeply and madly in love with him. No, she was actually in love with Logan all that time, but he came from a broken family so she didn't see him in her perfect future. God, that's just jaded and it made me hate her. I also never fully understood why she left town? She said only Logan knew why... I thought she got knocked up. Nope, that wasn't it. If it was because he left, that was dumb, dumb enough that it's no excuse to avoid the town and her mother like the plague.
Savannah's friends made me question her choices in friends, especially since she is supposed to be so sweet, meanwhile they felt like mean girls.
I felt like they focused on Will's death too much, since it felt like it happened years ago?
I picked this one up because it centered around a B & B.
I felt like Logan could have avoided this whole screw up and getting her angry if he just offered to help her with the payment on the B & B in the first place.
The writing was good. The story and the characters left a lot to be desired.
This will not stop me from giving this author another chance from her previous novels.
I got a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Y'all, this is my total heart book. I love the characters, the town, every single thing about it. So what can you expect?
- A sassy, short heroine who I can almost guarantee you will like. She's the backbone of her family, imperfect in all the right ways, and she is full of love for those around her. If she were real, she and I would be great friends. :)
- A military veteran who tosses that sass right back at our favorite girl. She was his best friend's girl, until said best friend didn't make it back from a deployment, and then it was just the two of them--trying to find a way to be in a world without him.
- A town that will remind you of Stars Hollow, gossip and all. If you've read my work, you know I love secondary characters. And I love, love, love the ones in this book, especially the brother and sister.
- It's sweet and funny and emotional and just a fun book. I hope you'll enjoy it!
This is such a sweet romance! Savannah comes back to her hometown after the death of her mother. She plans to take over her family legacy and run the Bed and Breakfast. She doesn't know that the B&B is actually in financial distress and Logan Park is working for a company to help take over the B&B. Logan was the best friend of her deceased boyfriend, Will. Savannah has always had feelings for Logan but didn't know he felt the same for her. After Will died, she spent time with Logan and they got closer but then he left without a goodbye. Now that he's back and Savannah is in town, they find out some feelings never go away.
I really enjoyed this super sweet romance. I wasn't sure how I felt about Logan at first but really loved him by the end of the story. I loved the epilogue for this story - it left me with a huge smile on my face. I highly recommend this one to anyone who loves a sweet romance!
I feel like I am starting to sound like a broken record when I review books by Melissa West but I almost don’t even care. Trust me when I say that Melissa West needs to be on your radar. I fell in love with her writing in the YA genre but she has easily won me over with both her New Adult books and now her Adult Romance books. Your B&B or Mine has a lot of things – wonderful characters, a story that pulled me into their lives, and of course plenty of swoon and banter.
Savannah Hale is headed back to Maple Cove and it isn’t because of anything good. After her mother’s recent passing, she is now trying to figure out what to do with the bed and breakfast her family has run for her entire life. On top of that, there are a lot of painful memories in Maple Cove that Savannah prefers to leave in the past and now that she is back in town, they are all right in front of her – including Logan Park..the man she would prefer not to remember.
What to say about Logan…he definitely has some demons. Growing up in Maple Cove he always noticed Savannah but there were a number of things that kept him from doing anything about it. The first being his family and the thought that he wasn’t good enough for Savannah. He always did his best to keep his distance but then his best friend Will notices Savannah and reason number two turns out to be Will.
West delivers by creating such real characters and stories I can become invested in. I was immediately drawn into this story because I could connect with both Savannah and Logan. I needed to know how Logan was going to get past the guilt he felt not only for being in love with his best friend’s girl but also because he survived. And Savannah was also facing her own guilt – for not being there when her mother died and for not loving Will like she felt she should have. Seeing these two work through all of this and then realizing they both mean more to each other than they thought was what made this story for me. Also, the banter between these two made me smile.
I also loved the secondary characters am crossing my fingers that we get to learn more about Savannah’s brother and sister…and perhaps get glimpses of these two in the future.
As I have said before, if you haven’t read anything by Melissa West yet you should fix that. If you’re looking for a great romance that will have you rooting for both the heroine and hero, consider checking this one out when you can. Great characters, a wonderful story, and of course some swoon to make you want a Logan of your very own.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy!
This is a delightful bliss second chance romance involving overcoming feelings of inadequacy, acknowledging that what your parents are or were don't have to determine your own value but still fighting for family heritage.
As a teenager, Savannah Hale lived in Maple Cove, Georgia at the B&B run by her parents. She used to go round with Will and Logan, Will being her boyfriend, though it is really Logan she loves. Will and Logan joined the armed services and, unfortunately,Will was killed whilst on tour in Afghanistan. Logan is the one who came back home and supported Savannah through the tragic funeral, then, after kissing her, disappeared from her life to return back to the army without even saying goodbye or leaving a note.
Now Savannah's Mother has died, so she's returned home for the second time in years - the first time was for her father's funeral. She discovers that the family run B&B is in financial difficulties but is still shocked when Logan turns up and claims he'll be buying the business on behalf of his employers before she's even had chance to bury her Mum. You'll have to read it yourself to discover how small time gossips, past history and fighting for the future all play their role in this well written second chance romance.
Thanks to the Author, publisher and NetGalley, too, for letting me read an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Your B&B or Mine was a sweet and emotional romance.
My heart went out to both Savannah and Logan, I liked both characters and watching them work through their miscommunications, heartache and doubts left me with a heart full of happy feels.
I'm a fan of Melissa West's writing and once again she's delivered a touching and sweet romance with an entertaining plot and likeable characters. I highly recommend Your B&B or Mine!
Thank you to Entangled Bliss via NetGalley for the advance copy.
“No goodbye, no explanation. He allowed her to hate him instead of love him. It was the second hardest thing he’d ever done in his life, but at the same time, it was the right thing to do.”
Your B&B or Mine? is another great hit from Melissa West. It’s one of those stories that pulls you in, captivates you and just warms your heart.
Your B&B or Mine? follows the story of Logan and Savannah. Savannah never planned on returning home; the memories there were just too painful. However, when tragedy strikes, she has no choice but to return. Not only is she dealing with a broken heart from the loss of her mother, but she also has to deal with her family’s legacy. There is so much that needs to be done, and the B&B is in despair. The last thing Savannah planned on, was running into Logan again…..When Logan sees Savannah again, he feels like no time has passed at all. But, Logan has his own demons and regrets to deal with. Logan has sacrificed so much for the woman that he loves, but can never have. Only time will tell what will happen next now that the girl he let get away has returned home.
I loved everything about this story, from start to finish. It was the perfect small town/second chance romance. I was pulled into the story from the very first page and found myself unable to put it down. This story will really pull at your heart and tug at your emotions. Once you get to know Logan and Savannah, it is hard not to fall in love with them and see how their journey will play out.
Your B&B or Mine? was a quick and easy read for me. Once again, Melissa West has provided me with great characters and a really heart-warming story. This story had the perfect blend of small town charm, some angst, romance and was light on the drama. And I for one can not wait to see what journey Melissa West will take me on next!

Savannah and Logan share a common love for a lost friend. Guilt and miscommunication make them hesitant around eachother. Toss in the fact that Logan's job is to get her to sell her mom's B&B and you've got the makings of a sweet romance. It was a good read.
A heartwarming blend of Stars Hollow and BlueBell, YOUR B&B OR MINE? is small town romance at its best! I fell in love with Logan, cheered for Savannah, and am ready to move to Maple. An unforgettable start to an incredbile new series. I'm hooked!
Savannah Hale has never really wanted to return to her hometown of Maple Cove, because she isn't ready to deal with all the memories that are waiting there for her, or being subjected to the small town gossip mill again. Growing up in Maple Cove was hard for her, everybody always knew her business and had a opinions about it, most of which weren't exactly welcoming, so first chance she got to escape it she was gone. Her only bright spot in Maple Cove was her boyfriend Will, and when he chose to enlist in the military it broke her heart to see him go and leave her behind, but she had hope he'd return home and they'd marry and start their planned out future together. But Will lost his life in Afghanistan and she was left alone to pick up the pieces and find a way to move on without him, that is until his best friend Logan stepped in to help her survive the grief. He provided the comfort, friendship, and support she needed, and naturally spending that much time with him lead to something more, something both of them weren't ready to deal with. Logan felt like he was betraying his friend, so he walked away, and Savannah was once again alone. Finding out her mother had passed away was devastating for her, and she know's having to return home to Maple Cove isn't going to be easy, but it's something she has to do. But what she finds when she gets there is far more than she was ready to deal with...Logan has returned home too.
Logan Park has always had a crush on Savannah Hale, but she chose his best friend, so he just found a way to bury the crush and put on a brave face. After graduation his best friend Will and him joined the military and left small town life behind, including Savannah. But when Will loses his life it's up to Logan to return home and break the news to Savannah. Having her fall apart in front of him is almost more than he can bare, but he promised Will he'd take care of her, and so he does what he can to honor the promise made to his friend, he gives her the shoulder she needs to cry on and tries his best to help her move on. But in doing so, he starts to fall for her all over again, and this time she chooses him, and he doesn't know if he can handle that, so he walks away...and he's regretted it everyday since. And now that he's heard she is returning home to Maple Cove, he's desperate to win her back, and he will do whatever it takes to get her back into his arms...this time for keeps!
This story captured my attention right from the start and held on tight until the last page was turned, and has been lingering with me since. It is a second chance love story that will have you in tears one minute, and smiling from ear to ear the next, definitely one that will tap into your emotions and pull on your heartstrings!! I thoroughly enjoyed Logan and Savannah's story, and look forward to reading more of Ms. West's books, she is definitely a master at her craft!! Highly recommend you add this one to the top of your reading list, it's sure to warm your heart!!
ARC requested through NetGalley, and kindly provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for a honest and unbiased review!
I received an eARC of the book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Second chance romances are always a hit or miss with me – mostly because I as a reader tend to realise that the reasons why characters break up – majority of those reasons (or rather mistakes) are something that they never learn from and do you know absolutely how frustrating that is to a third person, because let me tell you not being able to shake some sense into people are basically fictional is damn frustrating!
Savannah has come back home – a home that has quite a few good memories, yet it is the bad ones that tend to dominate her thoughts. For when she lost her high school sweetheart, she also lost one person from whom she never expected to lose – Logan.
Logan on the other hand, is doing everything he can to live his life – on his best friend’s terms and falling for his best friend’s girl was never on the agenda.
When Savannah and Logan cross paths it is more volatile than you can expect – because neither of them shared any words – that’s right no communication – when they lives suddenly turned into two different paths!
This is a second chance romance where I was in conflict – while I was frustrated at both Savannah and Logan’s actions, I could absolutely understand, no not understand, but absolutely empathise with their reasons for acting the way they actually did – but that doesn’t actually mean that I didn’t wish that these two for once sit down and talked to each other.
Assumptions’ leading to miscommunication is exactly what this book was made off and I absolutely promise you, that the author actually knocked it out of the park! I loved her writing style and the fact that both Savannah and Logan are infinitely relatable! I loved how she got everything from a literally hopeless situation to one that was bright and filled with love! I am definitely going to be checking out more of her works!
Thanks to Netgalley, Bliss & Entangled Publishing for the ARC. 'Your B&B or Mine' covered so many bases with this story!! I loved how I could relate on so many levels with Savannah. She, like me, lost her parents at far too young an age. There's a fair balance of the emotions of grief without overwhelming the reader. This book will pull at your heart. I loved the descriptions of this southern town, and of a B&B that has the potential to be something more, and is the key really to Logan & Savannah finally grasping onto a life they have put on hold far too long. You will love the diversity in this book, it is not just a one track line to a plain old romance story. So many topics are explored, it leaves you feeling very fulfilled by the last page.
*My pet peeve... PLEASE get a cover model to at least have the same colour hair as the description (which is written over and over) inside the book!!!
I'll pretty much read any book set in the south and this one was adorable.
Love love loved Savannah and Logan. I loved their familiarity and the fact that there was so much UST I could have drown in it. There were a few bitchy characters, but that's half the fun of a small town plot line and these girls delivered.
Of course there was some angsty times, but nothing too horrible. And I was beyond thrilled to get the epilogue. There were a lot of flashbacks {it seemed like every chapter started with one} and that got a bit old. Even though it was necessary for the backstory, I wish there would have been a different way to do it.
Overall, it was a quick read with characters I really enjoyed. I'll definitely be checking out the other books in the series.
**Huge thanks to Bliss and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
This was an awesome read! A great blend of small town romance, a bit of angst, a touch of drama, and a whole lot of forgiveness. Savannah and Logan are great characters. I fell in love with Logan right away. Savannah took a little time to warm up to but in the end I adored her. This one gives us a great lesson of moving on with life and going after what you really want.
Melissa West knows how to make me cry and smile at the same time perfectly. Your B&B or Mine? was such a great romance read. It had all the elements there - a chance, a B&B, a love that can't be unseen and a small town who shares no secrets. Savannah and Logan made my heart go crazy in so many scenes and it made me want to read until the end. It's a short read but definitely enjoyable.
I am always looking forward to another Melissa West book, so when I saw this one, I knew I wanted to read it! It sounded super cute with a small-town vibe and I just love those! Sure enough, it was just what I needed to snuggle up with as the weather turned colder and the days shorter. It was a cute, sweet read and I enjoyed seeing Logan and Savannah try to maneuver their way around one another... and their lingering teenage feelings!
My heart was broken for Savannah as she is forced to come back home to Maple Cove to do the unimaginable: make funeral arrangements for her mom. Having lost her father already, the Hales must lean on another during such a difficult time. Savannah, as the eldest, feels a responsibility to be a source of strength for her siblings, but that is a challenge, as she is wrecked herself. In addition to this, her family's B&B is in financial trouble and while none of them ever really wanted to run it, it strikes up some nostalgia when it comes down to letting it go. I liked Savannah's character and I can't even imagine how she feels during this time. She feels immense guilt after leaving behind the small town of Maple Cove, after she got her heart broken so many years ago by her former boyfriend's best friend. She feels like she's missed valuable time with her mom and that really hurt my heart.
Savannah isn't the only person who's returned to Maple Cove. Logan Park has too and he just so happens to be with the company that wants to buy the B&B after it goes into foreclosure. Between that and Savannah's heartbreak over his suddenly leaving her all those years ago, things between the two are not the easiest. In fact, the two squabble quite a bit. Savannah has a hard time keeping her cool with him and the feelings he invokes in her certainly don't help either. Logan isn't a bad guy though. He was put in a difficult position when it came to his feelings for her, as she was his best friend's girl. After losing his best friend in the military, the two leaned on one another during such a painful time and eventually couldn't fight the attraction either one felt. However, Logan carries some serious guilt over his best friend's death, how it happened, and how he should proceed from there, so while hurting Savannah was the last thing he wanted, it was the one thing he knew he had to do in hopes she would move on and find someone different.
Savannah and Logan have serious unfinished business when it comes to one another. Savannah can try to mask her feelings with anger, but at the root of it is her heartbreak over a boy she really cared about. I was a bit conflicted over Logan's intentions at being back in Maple Cove. He knows he needs to keep his distance from her because of his former best friend, but he also wants to be the one there for her, as she is going through such a hard time. They have some really sweet, tender moments together and I was rooting for these two to confess their feelings for each other. However, I didn't understand why he made the decision he did in the end. It was corrected fairly quickly, but just seemed like added conflict that I think we could have done without.
Overall, I thought this was a cute story and I loved the small town Gilmore Girls feel. I can't wait for more books in the series and I really hope we get stories from Savannah's siblings, Leigh and Jack!

Super sweet story and a great start of a new series.
We have Savannah and Logan, they were great friends in the past, but because of some things that happened in the past, and well, life, they ended up being separated for several years.
Now Savannah is back in town, not only for her mother’s funeral, but also to settle things in the B&B her family owns. Her two siblings don’t care much about running it, so it’s only Savannah who could do it, but does she want to? On top of this, she’s carrying a lot of pain and guilt from the past and what drove her to leave town. She had a lot of issues to deal with, and finding Logan in town brought back both good and bad memories.
Then there’s Logan, a guy carrying a lot of guilt as well. So much so, that his entire life since his friend Will died, had been devoted to making things right, instead of really living. I really felt for him, he was carrying a lot of misplaced feelings about the past, and I was glad Savannah was able to help him through that.
I loved these two, they were great on their own, and amazing together. I wanted them to help heal each other and move on with the life they were always meant to have. They were funny, smart, loyal and passionate when they found their reason. Loved them.
I can’t wait to read more in this series. Maybe her siblings? Have to admit I didn’t like her sister that much, but I’m curious about her story.
Once again, a great start of a new series.

Savannah Hale and Logan Park have reluctantly returned to their hometown of Maple Cove, Georgia, both thrilled to see each other and determined to stay away. Savannah used to be Logan's best friend's girl -- until Will was killed in combat. And even though Savannah was engaged to Will, Logan was the first boy she cared about. But she's not sure she can ever get past the fact that he's her former fiancée's best friend and they got a little too close when they comforted each other after Will's death.
After her mom dies, a heartbroken Savannah returns to Maple Cove to see what needs to be done about the B&B her family owns, being the take charge sibling. What she finds out is that the B&B is in terrible shape, both physically and financially, and the Hales are going to lose it to an investment company soon if they don't come up with the money to save it. And Logan, who served with Will, is a guilt-ridden survivor and tries to atone for staying alive when Will didn't by living the life he thinks his friend wanted. So he's now working for the company that's interested in acquiring the hotel, even though he's not sure that trying to buy it is a good idea. And even though he's still in love with Savannah after all these years, he can't bring himself to let her know the truth.
A cute and sweet story with a fairly predictable storyline and, of course, the HEA that all we romance readers love! I received this as an ARC through NetGalley.
Thank you Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review!
Your B&B or Mine follows the story of Savannah and Logan. After losing her mother, Savannah returns home go Maple Cove to deal with her mothers death. She wasn't expecting that their family business would be in shambles and on the verge of foreclosure. Savannah is determined to make it work and to keep it running. Only one problem. Logan is also back in town, but working for a company who plans to buy the B&B. But seeing Savannah again, Logan realized just how much he has always loved her and they must deal with their feelings for each other, along with what to do about the B&B.
This was such a cute story. I love every bit of if. The characters were wonderful and very well rounded. The storyline was unique and heartwarming. Overall this was a wonderful read. I loved the characters and the plot and twists and turns. I wasn't ready for it to end! I really liked how detailed the book was, making it easy to visualize the picturesque town and its people. This was a really fun read and I'd highly recommend!
What a beautifully written story! I could connect to Savannah so strongly. It is so hard to lose your mom. And her emotions were so raw and close to the edge. I could feel her pain. It has been 20 years for me and that pain never goes away. Some of the scenes Savannah went through, I could remember from my own experience. And in this story when Logan showed up for her during the ceremony, tears flowed down my face, it was so sweet.
Their journey to each other was long and confusing for them, both guilt over their love for Will and their feelings for each other. I loved the way the same person helped them figure out how they should move on and be happy.
I cannot express how much this book touched me and the many emotions I felt while reading it. It was just so good at capturing the loss, the love, the hope.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.
I love reading from new authors and Melissa West is definitely one author you do not want to miss. Have to say I loved Logan Park and how determined he is to make things up. Reading about the heartache he went through and the guilt that has been around him is so much for this man. Savannah is perfect for him in every way from the way they`re able to communicate and the chemistry between them is just wow. So much is going in Savannah`s life right now to where Melissa West made it seem like she is alone yet she really is not right now. I loved that Melissa West created such a romance in the midst of a loss friend to where you are rooting for them yet hating them at the same time. Melissa West is one author you have to read for this is a beautiful story that will capture your heart.
It’s hard for Savannah Hale to return to Maple Cove. Since her hometown is bound to dredge up the most painful of memories that she’s tried her hardest to get over. But after the death of her mother, returning is her best chance to keep the family legacy alive. She knows turning things around isn’t going to be easy when the threat of foreclosure hangs over her head, and the B&B desperately needs repairs. The question is – can she return the B&B to its former glory, or will she lose it like she’s lost so much else? Read More
I have been wanting to read Melissa's work and when this chance came up I was excited and not disappointed either. The story which I wish was longer flowed great, characters were exchanging and the plot was something different than everything out there! When Savannah is losing everything she loves she either has to fight for it or just accept fate and let it go. Definitely look forward to more of her work in the future. Honest review in exchange for ARC.
I received a copy of this book, from the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. In no way did this sway either my review or my rating!
I have been desperate for a sweet and easy romance. Something without all the complications and stomping of emotions. Don't get me wrong, I love those more often then not but lately I've just really needed something that wasn't going to rip my heart to shreds and yet still give me all the feels. After many fails finally, finally I've found everything I was looking for in this book. The characters, the setting, the second-ish chance at love...it was all just so perfect and exactly what I'd been needing.
I feel like I have this weird little B&B setting fetish. For some reason if it's in the title or mentioned in the description I kind of forget everything else and always decide it's a must read. There's just something so sweet and quaint with a bed and breakfast that attracts me and draws me in. The Maple Cove B&B was perfect in that role. I kind of need it to be a real place along with Logan and Savannah so I can go stay there. Sigh. Dang fiction!
It was so much fun getting to know all of the Hale family, and Logan of course. I mean it is a tragic way to start off meeting Savannah and her sister Leigh and brother Jack. All reeling from the loss of their mother. But in a way you also get to really see each one of their personalities pretty clearly. Savannah the oldest always trying to be the rock and hold everything together. To fix everything. Yet on the inside she's falling apart and feeling like she's failing everyone. I loved her character so much.
I'll be honest for a tiny bit when you first meet him...Logan kind of got on my nerves. It's really stupid though when I tell you my reason. I'm sure you'll be like "Uh...okay, Sheri. That's it?" It was because he constantly had a smirk. I told you it's silly. But, it was like every single time that Savannah looked at him it was like "a smirk appeared on Logan's face" or even in his point of view "he couldn't help but smirk" types of things. I think because it kept happening I wanted to be like "learn some new facial expressions buddy!" Regardless of that silly fact though Logan is pretty much the whole package with such a huge heart. I am totally smitten with this guy!
I really don't want to say too much because there's more than one complication that stands between Logan, Savannah and happily ever after. But I loved how easy and real all those aspects to the storyline felt and were dealt with. There were just enough complications to make you wonder if things could be fixed but not too much that there wasn't a spec of hope. The relationship was achingly sweet and more often than not had me sighing with what I'm sure was probably a huge goofy grin on my face.
It's just so stinking sweet!!!
I loved it.
Truly a really great start to a series I can't wait to keep following. I'm really hoping that the next book will be about Savannah's sister, Leigh Hale. Some sneaking around with a certain person in town gets pointed out on a few occasions and it has me all kinds of excited for some secretive shenanigans. It really doesn't matter who it is though, I'm just really excited for another visit to Maple Cove!
This was such an easy read, full of heart and sweet, sweet romance in a quaint little southern town where people know what you ate for breakfast before you even walk out your front door. Lots of fun to be had with this series I can already tell. Bring on more!
Huge thanks to Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book!
This book left me feeling utterly wrung out. Not because of the grief or the guilt or other such emotions experienced by the characters, but because it made me angry and frustrated and I wanted to smack certain characters on the back of the head. This might also have been because I wasn’t feeling too well when I read this, but it just proves that you need to be in a good mood before you pick this up or it might make you feel worse.
Savannah is heading home to Maple Cove after the death of her mother. As the oldest of three siblings, she’s the one expected to sort everything out – from the funeral to the B&B itself. But she’s barely arrived back in town when she finds the boy she once loved and lost is back – and he wants to buy the B&B. And that is where my angry feelings began. Firstly, why does Savannah have to do everything? Her siblings are both capable adults, but the way they duck out of everything, then pick at her decisions made me hate both of them. Her sister just sneaks around, while her brother continuously puts her in difficult positions, while bickering loudly with each other at every possible moment. As for the whole kissing booth thing… that was worrying on many levels.
Then there’s Logan of the impossibly bad timing. She doesn’t even get through the door before he tells her he’s going to buy her childhood home from underneath her. Then whenever Savannah’s having trouble with something, he pops up to smirk in a really infuriating way. There are times when he’s sweet and supportive and promises to help – then the dreaded smirk returns and I wanted to kick him in the shins or something. Add in the gossipy town and I came close to hating the whole thing.
I felt really bad for Savannah and everything she’s trying to cope with. And yet she frustrated me too. Why did she leave and stay away for so long if her family was so great? I get that she was embarrassed by the talk about her and Logan, especially considering her previous relationship with Will, but most of her summer with Logan was secret so no one knew what happened. And Logan was gone! Why did she waste so much time away from her family? I could have understood if her brother and sister had been angry at her for being so far away for so long, but instead they were just annoying and useless, which made me feel bad for Savannah again.
Luckily around halfway, after the funeral, most of my anger went away. Probably because the focus of the novel changes to trying to save the B&B, while her relationship with Logan also begins to develop. However, I was still annoyed because Logan is living a life he doesn’t even enjoy for his dead best friend, while lamenting the horrible fact that Savannah is going to lose the B&B – all because of him. The solution is obvious and I went back to wanting to kick him in the shins or whack him on the head to make him see sense. The man is an idiot. At least Savannah changes throughout the book and is willing to take a chance, but Logan just went around in circles.
However, despite my frustrations and angry moments, this is a good tale. The romance was enjoyable, and if I’d been feeling a little better I probably wouldn’t have got so annoyed. Even though neither of Savannah’s siblings cover themselves in glory in this book, I’m intrigued enough to want to know more of their tale – especially her brother – so I’ll definitely be keeping a look out for more from Maple Cove. I just hope the next one won’t stir quite so many exhausting emotions in me.

I will be the first to say I don't read a lot of adult books. But I'm in love with the romance genre. Throw in second chance romance and my heart goes pitter patter! Melissa West has quickly become one of my favorite and go to authors. Whether she's writing romance or YA science fiction, she pulls me in and I can't seem to let go!
Savannah is probably one of my favorite female characters in a romance. Why, you ask? Because she is no nonsense strong. And she doesn't falter when she knows what she needs to do for her life to go a certain way. But when a kink is thrown in, she does get a little agitated and out of sorts, which I also love. Because there is no person that doesn't have their moments of self doubt! Savannah is real and that's what makes me love her the most!
Then there's Logan. Oh boy. Talk about swoon worthy leading man. Logan is not only a former soldier, be still my heart, but he's also someone Savannah had grown very close to after the death of her high-school sweetheart. And Logan can't forget this connection. But he also can't forget that his best friend died fighting for our country, and he feels somewhat responsible for that.
I love the conflict between Savannah and Logan. As much as they want to stay apart, and be enemies, they just can't seem to do it. There's too many thing that were left unsaid when Logan abruptly left for his tour of duty just as they were getting as close as they could get. And now, he's working for the company that wants to take away Savannah's family's bed and breakfast, and she'll do whatever it takes to make that not happen.
But this book isn't just about romance, though that is a huge part of the plot. It's about mending broken hearts and broken friendships. It's about coming home and realizing what you left behind means more to you than you could ever have imagined. Both characters have their demons and fight to keep them at bay. But doing so only draws them closer together. Ultimately, they must both face those demons to truly see what they want and need in their lives.
As with all her books, West makes such an impact with her writing. She never fails to grab you and make you want to hold on for the ride. She continues to be an author I will always read, no matter what she chooses to right. Fans of small town romance will really love this sweet and sassy story of a small town girl and boy who return to each other and find just what they need in the least expected of places.
I finished Your B&B or Mine in one day. Melissa West writes fantastic romance. I love the characters she creates, the boys especially. I already want to read it again just thinking about it. I’m so excited for more in this series. I don’t know which will be next Leigh? Jack? I’m kind of hoping Jack.
Maple Cove reminds me a bit of Gilmore Girls. The small town where everyone knows your business and is very leery of change. I really want to go to the bakery, my mouth was watering reading about that part. It was fun to have the setting be a small town and the majority of the action revolving around the family B&B. I’m guessing the series will branch into different parts of town if it’s going to continue to be about the Hale siblings.
I loved Savannah because she is a successful business woman. Sometimes I feel like I read too many books sometimes where the main female lead is down on her luck job wise. There is one particular part where Savannah yells at Logan about assuming that her work doesn’t need her. Maybe they are actually compassionate. I was like ya you go girl. I’m personally fortunate to have a job and bosses that are understanding about family so I know how that goes. Melissa is very good at creating a strong woman who you can relate to.
Logan, oh Logan. I loved him right off the bat and of course with Melissa’s masterful way of creating sizzling romance, he is not easy to resist. I like that he served terms in the military and his survivor's guilt is a good issue to touch upon because that happens not just with veterans but with many people. Savannah is the perfect person to pull him out of it being that she was Will’s girl originally. So understands Logan in a way other people can’t, besides there is a history there.
The romance is absolutely perfect. I loved the push and pull between Savannah and Logan, which is what made me finish this book in one day. Such a great romantic read that made me smile and want to see it as a movie, or a mini-series, or a made for tv movie. Something! I also go into a Melissa West book knowing I’m going to get my money’s worth in that respect.
So I could gush all day. Why are the reviews for the books you love the hardest? I just want to say read it. READ IT! I loved it so much. One of my top Romances and I’m so excited for the rest of the series.

Your B&B or Mine is the first book in author Melissa West's latest contemporary romance series entitled Maple Cove, set in a fictional town by the same name located in the state of Georgia. This series starter isn't one I would really label as a second chance romance but more of a finally-taking-that-chance romance. Savannah Hale and Logan Park have known each other for years and the one person that tied them together is Will Pruitt, Savannah's boyfriend and Logan's best friend. Even after Will was killed in while he and Logan were serving in Afghanistan, their connection to him was still there...but then there was something else there that neither of them realized was mutual. Their re-connection is fodder for gossip and in a small town like Maple Cove, every move they make is under much scrutiny and speculation.
I quite enjoyed both the story and the cast of characters, especially Logan and Savannah. There's always that bit of humor in the situations they find themselves in as well as a lot of heart, something that seems and should be a staple of small-town romances like this one. Neither the story or main characters are overly complex but they're complicated enough that you want to delve in and figure out what motivates Logan and Savannah and why they never really became anything more after Will's death. Logan being torn between his love for Savannah and his loyalty to Will's memory is easier to understand when readers find out how Will and his family made him feel accepted and wanted. I'm guessing Savannah's siblings will get their own stories and I'm definitely looking forward to both. Your B&B or Mine is a five-star series starter. ♥
Savannah and Logan had this connection- Logan's best friend and Savannah's boyfriend died in a line of duty and because of this, Logan has taken this to heart that this is his fault that he is alive and Savannah’s boyfriend died. There is a history there between the three of them—Savannah‘s boyfriend ended up choosing the military over her and ended up dying overseas. Logan came home and broke the news to her and she broke down-Logan stayed to help her cope and they ended up forming a connection that was deeper than either thought. What happened was Logan up and left her behind as well…no Logan and no Will. Savannah was all alone with really no one . Well then Savannah gets news that her mom has died and she will have to go home for the funeral. Back to Maple Grove and the man who she realized she loved more than she loved her dead boyfriend. There is so much pain and drama in this book and oh the anger there. It was hard to get thru at times. I did understand where Savannah was coming from—how could she trust Logan to stay around if he left her once and I did understand Logan’s point of view if she chose Will over him , would she stay with him …but there were some glaring inconsistencies’ in this story that made me just want to see this written a different way and also to see an epilogue which shows the MC several months to a year down the road on how they are doing. I will be honest; this wasn’t my favorite book by this author. I just found this book was not a good fit for me. I think I could not connect to the characters and their situation. It seemed at times implausible but it could be this was a hard fit story for me. I do like this author and I will give her next book a try but this is a pass for me.

I enjoyed Your B & B or Mine a lot. Not only was the story well-written and engaging, but the two main characters were fascinating and compelling, and they pulled me into their story and the town of Maple Cove right away. Author Melissa West made it easy to understand that these two people had a deep and confusing history together, but also an electric pull that, despite spending numerous years apart, continued to tug at them.
Stories like this are among my favorites to read because I like learning about different people and what makes them tick, what makes them react the way they do to the things and people around them. What leads them to the decisions they make and what drives them to do the things that they do, and how they learn and grow from the mistakes they’ve made. It’s really fascinating to read so many stories with the same kind of scenario and yet, the story not be the same at all because the story’s people make it so fresh and unique.
Savannah and Logan have some confusing , troubling, and unfinished history between them. They’ve laughed, they’ve cried, they’ve loved, they’ve grieved, and they’ve annoyed, and still, they can’t quite seem to be done with each other. It’s this type of innate chemistry and seemingly effortless storytelling that draws me in and makes me keep reading a book. I loved Logan and Savannah’s banter and wit, but I also the pain, anger, and regret between them, too. These two care deeply about those around them and take it to heart when things don’t go as expected.
Sad, fun, angst-ridden, honest, and real, Your B & B or Mine is a fantastic romance read with a hero and heroine that will make you glad you picked up their story to read it. I know I am.
