Jenn McKinlay is quickly becoming one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. I received Copy Cap Murder, the 4th book in her Hat Shop Mystery series, for Christmas and wanted to catch up on Scarlett's capers. She's an American transplant in London who's inherited her grandmother's hat shop and co-runs it with her cousin, Viv. She's socializing with a former childhood friend, Harrison, whom she's fallen head over heels for, but after a disastrous break-up before leaving the U.S., she's sworn off da

This series has quickly become one of my favorite must read series. Jenn McKinlay is a such a terrific writer and I think the series just gets better with each book. The author has such a wonderful writing style that she draws the reader into her world and surrounds them with such a great story line, wonderful characters and a solid mystery that you never want to leave. Whenever I pick up one of the books in this series I know I won't be disappointed and I will be transported for a few hours to

Another good mystery in the Hat Shop series. I enjoyed the mystery aspect and the relationship between Scarlett and her friends. The only part I didn't enjoy was that it felt too short and not much time was spent on solving the mystery. I felt the ending came a bit too abruptly.

This another of my favorite series. Love the London setting and I want to be friends with the characters. I’m also loving how McKinlay manages to work in little nods to her other series in her books. It’s a little something extra for her fans. This story had a really exciting ending. #readforkimberly

COPY CAP MURDER is the feather in the cap of the Hat Shop mysteries!
I have loved author Jenn McKinlay’s writing ever since reading a book in her Cupcake Bakery Mystery series several years ago. Her style is crisp, witty, and just plain wonderful to read. Every new book by this author is a treat.

Scarlett Parker is thrilled to be going to her first Bonfire Night hosted by her friend Harrison’s firm. However, when the time comes to burn the straw man of Guy Fawkes, the group realizes it is actually Win, Harrison’s office rival who had come on to Scarlett earlier that night. Harrison becomes a suspect, and Scarlett must figure out what is happening to keep her friend from taking the fall.

This was not my favorite book in the series, but I still really enjoyed it. Mostly because of the characters and the fast-paced and dramatic ending. There was a little too much pinning over Harrison (If you like him so much then DO SOMETHING). Scarlett's trying to trick Viv into revealing her husband's identity was very nice comic relief. I was actually very surprised by the killer; (view spoiler)

As Copy Cap Murder by Jenn McKinlay opens, Harrison invites the friends to a Guy Fawkes bonfire put on by his high finance company, Carson and Evers, for its clients. People notice the sparks flying between Harrison and Scarlett despite her vow to wait another four months to get back on the dating scene. Soon Tuesday, Harrison’s ex-girlfriend who used to live with him, approaches the pair and tells Harrison to get them wine, sending him away in order to let Scarlett know that she intends to take

I. AM. GOBSMACKED. Completely.
I never in a million years saw that coming. The red herrings were perfect in this one; I was led, hook, line, and sinker down the path the author wanted me led down and then WHAM, I was smacked with the truth. And it was GLORIOUS!!
This is easily my most favorite of this series. SO much fun and the end was quite nerve-racking.
Excellent read.

Scarlett, Vivian and Harrison are busy attempting to figure out another murder.
Scarlett who is on a year long no dating ritual, is having a hard time controlling her feelings for handsome Harrison.
Murder is again the topic of the sequal, from a company BBQ at Harrison's bosses house.
The story is not only comical, it's fascinating, romantic and of course very action packed as the momentum of the murder mystery picks up with every passing page.
Can't wait to dive in to the next book. ...more

Copy Cap Murder is the fourth book in the A Hat Shop Mystery series. Another enjoyable visit with Scarlett, Vivian and their friends.

This is an enjoyable series, set in present-day London. Cousins Scarlett Parker and Vivian Tremont own a hat shop called Mim's Whims, and manage to involve themselves in one sticky situation after another. In this one, their business partner and financial advisor (and Scarlett's "next boyfriend"), Harrison Wentworth, is accused of strangling a co-worker at a Guy Fawkes Day bonfire celebration, after said co-worker takes liberties with Scarlett. The girls set out to prove that Harry is innocent,

A very witty and plain fun book to read. I just wish that I could come up with the quick comebacks that Scarlett and her cousin Viv do. No matter how insulting the person might be, they are able to come back with something that is not rude or vulgur and are really amusing! Oh, jealousy...!
Very much Recommended.

Oh how I love this series. Scarlett Parker and her cousin Vivian Tremont own a hat shop in London. They attend a party with their friends at the home of their friend Harrison's boss. At the party an old rival of Harrison's assaults Scarlett and Harrison gets into a fight defending her honor. But when the man shows up dead soon after, all signs point to Harrison. Scarlett makes it her mission to clear Harrison all the while trying to keep an ex girlfriend away from him.(Hands off Lady. He's Taken

It's only appropriate to celebrate Jenn McKinlay's latest Hat Shop Mystery, Copy Cap Murder, with fireworks. It's a mystery that starts with Guy Fawkes Day and murder, but also serves up a healthy portion of romantic fireworks.

Not my cup of tea. Jenn McKinlay does two other series that I absolutely love. This book from the Hat Shop Mystery series just isn't one of my favorites. Since I've won this book from a giveaway I have tried to read it three other times. I just couldn't get through the first few chapters. Too much description, and it just didn't flow for me. It did get better toward the middle of the book, but still, I don't think I'll read others in this particular series. Why not give the series another chance

Must say this is my least favorite, so far, in this series. The mystery was so over-the-top that I found myself rolling my eyes numerous times. I know the characters in cozies are "nosy", pretty much by definition, but Scarlett & Viv seemed to take it to extremes. Judging from the many great reviews of this one by people whose opinions I generally share, maybe I just wasn't really in the mood for this one. I don't know. Anyway, got tired of Scarlett's guesses about Viv's "secret" husband, and am

These cozy crimes just keep getting better. I started reading McKinley's Cupcake Bakery series and was instantly hooked. Now I can't get enough and when I found the Hat shop series, well, let's just say my bank account got snookered! This one focuses on Harrison and I quite enjoyed that. I don't know if I like the "whole I can't have a boyfriend for a year but look he's so right" relationship or lack of one between Scarlett and him. First she doesn't like him and now because she's taken a year m

Ms. McKinlay has done it again, I loved this book, as I have every one that she has written. The hat shop is set in England on Portobello Road and every time I read this series I feel as if I am there. Harrison takes the gang to a Guy Fawkes party thrown by his boss. From there begins a mystery with twists and turns that kept me guessing up until Scarlett figured it out, and what an ending, I was on the edge of my seat. All the old friends are back in this story, but if you've never read the ser
