Great book for introducing the body & bodily processes. I read this aloud to my 6-year-old son. His older brothers (11 and 9) will read it on their own. It's a little young for the eldest, but will be a fine supplement to his other lessons about the human body.
This book was written in 1989, when we still accepted the reality that boys become men and therefore can be fathers, and girls become women and thus can be mothers. An excellent addition to our homeschool library.
All of these books that discuss how our body works and what is inside our body are very good books for young children to look at and try to understand. This one is especially good becuase it is colorful and has young children in it for other children to relate to. This book does a great job of showing whats going on inside the body and outside. This books discusses what happens to food, how we get muscles, what happens when you breathe, and how your muscles move. Also, this is good because it shows the differences between boys and girls. Chldren of this age group are very interested in different body parts and why or why not someone else might look different and have different parts. I wold use this book in my classroom in discussing the human body and how it works.
Look Inside Your Body is my health science book. This books would be a good read for 1st or 2nd graders the vocabulary is not very hard. The curriculum connection is science it tells about how your body works and what jobs each part of your body has. There may be a content concern for some parents due to improper images and words used. This book tells about the whole body and how it functions from how your body moves food through it to how your senses work. It tells about the differences of boys and girls.
Great in discussing muscles, breathing, senses, nerves, and digestion. Discusses girl/boy differences too. It doesn't go into depth with cells, sickness, or body organs.
