Very dry, just the facts. And in many cases, ONLY the base facts. If you want to know the names, dates of birth, titles and native countries of Saints, you'll find that here. A LOT of that here.

But if you want to know WHO these people were and WHY they were made saints... Well, you're better off looking elsewhere.

A great resource for saints associated with Europe and England. A good reference and research book. It contains in-depth, well-researched information which has been succinctly put together. Where there is doubt about the authenticity of any source material, this is clearly stated in the text.

No frills. Good for what it is. This is not something I would read cover to cover, but whenever a saint comes up in my Medieval studies, I know I can turn to this trusty volume to give me a little background.
