An unwanted betrothal, a baron of ill repute, one chance to change their fate…

Aisling played the dutiful daughter and ended up with a despicable fiancé. With no choices, she must destroy her reputation, and the lord of Armanta fits her needs. Common born, near penniless, questionable character, and a remote estate where she could keep her secrets, he would be perfect for putting an end to her arranged marriage.

Brogan's hard-won estate came with many challenges, the least of which was an unplanned royal guest in the dead of winter. In his old life, he'd not hesitate to bed the wayward beauty, but the Lady Aisling deserves more than a rogue in lord's clothing. Compounded by unwanted magic lessons and a manor with its own mysteries, he is drawn to Aisling as more than a passing acquaintance.

As Brogan and Aisling find a blissful peace, his sordid past is bound to catch up as a powerful rival emerges from the shadows and demands his dues… From them both.

Deceiving the Bandit Lord
Aisling and her brothers along with a Governess, are staying with her cousin Lachlan the newly crowned King of the Northam. Lachlan, her wolfkin cousin has recently married. Aisling and her brothers must travel back to her home with her father. Her father is a heartless man who threw her mother out when it was discovered that she was wolfkin. Aisling has just found out that her father betrothed her to a despicable man, Declan. Aisling concocts a plan to ruin her reputation with the new Lord of Armanta. It starts with a snow storm and they are stranded with Lord Brogan. He would be perfect to get her out of the arranged marriage. She must concoct a plan to sully her reputation.
Lord brogan was given an estate in disrepair. He along with his elf friend intend to make this old manor successful again. They did not plan on surprised guests before they could set the estate for habitation. As a former thief Brogan has vowed to leave that life behind.
This is a regency novel with elements of magic, elves and wolfkin. I don’t often read books where the lady has to rely on others to get what she wants and needs. Aisling was a bright and interesting character. She knew what she needed and set a plan. Brogan and Aisling had quite a few twists and turns. Overall this was a fun book, easy to read with good and interesting characters.

I have so many conflicting emotions about this story. Lets begin with the story. Brogan Fletcher a new Baron, begins his life in an old abandoned estate to care for as his own. Brogan was portrayed quite the D-bag in the first book of this series but quickly redeemed himself as he worked with the people to repair his new home. Now enters Lady Murphy... Aisling plots to seduce Brogan in order to get out of her marriage to Declan. That is the jest of the story. The story was rough to stay connected with. The natural flow of a budding relationship was there but the story did not flow well between Declan's part and Brogan's. The book also had some other editing issues that threw me off. The world, the story, the characters kept me engaged but the execution on telling the story fell short for me.

He is now lord to a castle. Unfortunately it hasn’t really been lived in in over thirty years. Brogan isn’t like most lords though. From the start he helps to rebuild and also build a friendship with those under him. He does have some secrets that he most be very careful with. Aisling is a smart you woman but is promised to a man that is far from noble. She makes a decision that will stall meeting her father and him. But she has more plans hidden to hopefully end the engagement. She has her own secrets that may be what destroys too much. Filled with magic and men that can turn into wolves the story is adventurous and dangerous.
