In the 22th Century, the people of the Solar System have banded together against an alien invasion. Unfortunately, they’re losing—badly.

As the only Natural remaining in the genetically engineered officer corps of the United Planet’s fleet, Henry Gallant has unique mental abilities that have proven essential to the defense against the Titan invaders. Nevertheless his fello

Excellent military science fiction series

The saga of Henry Gallant is full of well realized characters, exciting missions, a suitably alien antagonist and a bureaucracy back home that doesn't have its mind on the people on the sharp tip of the fight.

In addition to the alien invasion which threatens human expansion in the solar system, and, eventually beyond, we have the age old class struggles. Stories like this remind us that money, social status, ethnicity, and connections matter very little w

In "Henry Gallant and the Warrior" which I won through Goodreads Giveaways the United Planets are losing in the war against the Titans, an alien race intent on controlling the solar system to the detriment of mankind. As the story opens Lieutenant Gallant a "Natural" lacking the benefit of genetic engineering has assumed command of the "Warrior" an advanced stealth war ship that's being ordered to Jupiter to spy on and sabotage the enemy's power structure.

But before he leaves the Mars Space sta

Far more interesting than the previous books, this one still suffers from problems in the tech and described units. for example a space elevator accelerates at 7 Gs, but that isn't a unit of speed as in the book, only of change in speed. As always, if you can get over those, it's quite enjoyable. The pacing is really different, as the action is of a different kind and there are less combats. Quite a good book.

Another solid outing for Henry Gallant! This time is is taking the war to the aliens, in a ship and style reminiscent of the cold war submarine battles. There were a few things that struck me as odd, such as the intelligence officer who travels with him and not being able to see the final victory but I'm glad this series still has more in the tubes left to fire. I'm looking forward to the next volume. Fans of the Lost Fleet or Honor Harrington will enjoy this series.

Another good entry in the Henry Gallant series with a tense, action packed climax. Alesso writes a well paced, realistic feeling (Perhaps unless you're a rocket scientist because all the technical jibber jabber sounds like it is based on future possibilities, but who am I to judge?) space adventure that keeps you engaged and rooting for the good guys. I'm looking forward to more of his books.

Way too short

I enjoyed most of the book, but there were a couple of chapters of fluff. While this might be alright in a longer book I felt that the chapters were filler to reach a certain length so the book could be spilt into two parts. All of which left me feeling I was suckered into buying two books just to, eventually, buy two novellas instead of a complete book.

Another great story

Another classic from Alesso. The story is detailed, and due to the nature of realistic espionage and spying, can be tedious. There simply is no way to minimize this while staying realistic. So although this book is tedious in certain instances I do not hold it against the writer. It was a great effort and am glad to have read it. I cannot wait for more!

Kind of a let down. Was too short. Not enough character development on Mcall. Would have liked to see more about her.
