Marissa Mitchell loves her job as a first grade teacher. Dating a student’s father is the furthest thing from her mind, even forbidden…until she meets Brady James. His sexy and confident demeanor captivates her, his tattoos giving him that bad boy edge for which every woman drops their mouths—and panties. When Marissa agrees to meet Brady for drinks, she could never imagine what she would walk into. Her world tilts when she learns what kinds of things make up the man before her, the kind of man she never knew she wanted.
I want him…beneath me, above me, behind me…inside me.
I was born and raised in South/Central Florida. Currently residing in Texas, I love spending time with my fur-baby, Roxy… and sometimes my kids (when they behave). I enjoyed writing poems as a teenager, but it was short-lived. I didn’t become an avid reader until… Twilight and became obsessed. My passion for reading led to stories and characters nagging at me. Then a friend suggested I write it out and have now released my debut novel, Something More.
I'm currently writing another novel and short story for an anthology.
Marissa Mitchell is a first grade teacher. It's the first day of the new year and some of the students, and their parents, who were unable to come to the "Meet & Greet" a week earlier are dropping off their kids. She loves her job and the first week is Marissa's opportunity to meet the parents she did meet before, and some of them hang around to watch. One single Dad, Brady James, sparks something in her. She agrees to meet him for a drink, not knowing if it's against school policy, but she's willing to take the risk.
When she meets up with Brady, she is immediately arouse and curious about a surprise he has for her. Does she risk spending just one night with the sexy dad... or will there be more?
This was just okay to me. It felt like it was a mosh up of other successful stories like this. I've had really great success with novella lately, but this one just didn't hit the mark for me.
I respect all authors for putting themselves out there and I hope I'm an anomaly and this will work better for other readers.
"Taught" by Jenna Tyler is a sexy intro into a new series newly released. Marissa is a first grade school teacher who is attracted to the dad of one of her students. When Brady asks her to meet for drinks she decides to go, There's even more sparks flaring and after one drink together they decide to go back to his place. Walking into the exclusive apartment building she finally puts two and two together and realizes he's the wealthy billionaire Brady James. His penthouse holds Brady's secret can Marissa handle it?
This was a quick sexy installment to a series I can't wait to continue to read! Steamy!
“Your body was made for me. Every inch of it is perfect.”
Taught is the brand new naughty novella from Jenna Tyler.
Marissa Mitchell is a first grade teacher who’s very much single and still looking for her Mr. Right, or even just a Mr. Right Now, she’s not discriminating. Brady James may be both but Marissa is hoping for door number one after only one encounter and it was a brief one at that. Problem being, he’s the father of one of her students…
When Mr. Hottie Dad leaves her an invitation on the back of one of his business cards, Marissa is immediately intrigued and a little torn, that inner conflict doesn’t last two seconds, she makes the snap decision to take him up on his offer and see let the cards fall where they may.
“Do you take risks, Marissa?”
Taught is sexy, funny, a little kinky and a dump ton of fun. I love Marissa’s inner thoughts and her quirky, fearless attitude. She is no shrinking violet, she says what she thinks and Brady might just be exactly what Marissa is looking for. Successful, confident, too sexy for words and a bit bossy, he makes her shiver with just a look.
Jenna Tyler has given us two characters and a story that will set the pages of your e-reader ablaze. Get your fans out ladies; Brady is going to make you shiver, blush, tingle and sigh. The instant chemistry in Taught is intoxicating and addictive, I NEED MORE!!!!!! Because Taught is a novella I want to leave it here, I don’t ever like be spoilery, where’s the fun in that? Jenna Tyler had better be writing the next novella already, because I can’t wait to see what Brady has in store for Marissa next. Bring it Tyler.
“My mind is devoid of anything of consequence as this beautiful man possesses my mouth, my body, maybe even my soul.”
Marissa is a first grade teacher who meets Brady, the father of one of her students, during a classroom event at the start of the school year. She is physically attracted to Brady from the start, and finds an invitation to meet him for a drink shortly after their first meeting. Marissa accepts the invitation and they confirm that they are indeed quite sexually compatible.
I feel like there was some potential here, but even for a novella, this was quite short. I feel like what we did get here was a few bits of story that are very similar to other books in this genre, without the author expanding on some of the elements of the story that could help this one find its own unique elements. I wish the author would have given us a little bit more information about either character, but we really just get surface descriptions, and not even many of those. I also wish she would have exploited a little more of the tension or conflict that could arise with her being the teacher of Brady's son.

I'm going to need a napkin for this series... ;) A good start to this serial with some great lines. Fans of billionaires and BDSM (where the woman KNOWS what she wants for a change) will love this! Can't wait to read more from Jenna Tyler!
Sometimes, you just need a breather. You need something fun. You need something sexy. You need…just something. Taught was my “something”. While I love angst and tension just as much as I love a good ole’ fashioned romance novel, there’s absolutely something to be said for a quick little romp, and that’s what Taught gave me.
First, let me say that I don’t read serials. Like ever. As in, this is my first one. I’ve never trusted myself to enjoy serials, because even novellas sort of drive me crazy most of the time. There’s not enough depth usually, and I feel like big chunks are missing. I love Jenna though and was intrigued with the idea of this from the get go, so I knew I must give it a whirl. I’m so incredibly glad I did. No, you don’t get a full back story on each character. No, you don’t have many tens of thousands of words to build up to the beginning of their relationship. And you know what? It’s okay. I enjoyed myself while reading Taught, even without it. Tyler has proven to me that I can become invested in a connection and relationship without knowing every small detail.
The premise of the book is exciting, and the fast pace will keep you enthralled with every page. They dive right on in, and I loved it. No big sweeping promises, just two people enjoying the company of one another. It’s really so simple. The hint of more to come, or the possibility of much deeper emotions lying under the surface made me all giddy though, and I can’t wait to see what’s to come for Marissa and Brady.
The writing is fun and in my opinion, very real. Tyler writes what I could imagine myself saying or thinking if I were in Marissa’s position. She writes delicious, alpha males, flirty yet innocent heroines, and I think she did a fantastic job bringing them to life in such a short amount of time.
Overall, massive high five to Jenna Tyler for turning me into a believer of serials and novellas. While this is only book one in the series, I’m already jumping in head first and am much too excited to learn more. Keep them coming, and I’ll keep on one-clicking cause I’m hooked.
Taught by Jenna Tyler is the first installment in her new novella series. Taught is the story of Marissa Mitchell. She is a first grade teacher and ready to start her new school year. On the first day of school Marissa meets one of her students, Dylan James and his father Brady. There is an instant attraction between Brady and Marissa. Brady ask Marissa to meet for drinks one night and sparks start to fly. They agree to take things farther at Brady's apartment; but when Marissa walks into Brady's penthouse she is surprised to see what his lifestyle is like.
This book is a four leaves read for me. It had me gripped from the very start. I was not ready for this story to end! I am so intrigued by this novella series and it excites me for book two!!
A gifted copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review by Jodie Rae.
3.5-4 Stars. Despite this being so short, it was really good! I like the direction this book is heading towards and if you want something fun and kinky to read, then grab this one! The fact that Marissa is a teacher and she is willing to go out into Brady’s lifestyle makes the book much more interesting. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series!
I was really excited to read Taught because I love forbidden romances and I really enjoyed it! It's a very fast, easy read with plenty of heat, a little sass, and a touch of warm gooeyness. There is still more that needs to be told and discovered about this hero and heroine, but I was satisfied with the ending and I'm eager to read whatever is coming next!
I thought this book was a great, quick, get to the point read for me (who has a busy hectic life).. I enjoy reading just never seem to have the time. With this I was able to pick it up, get into it, and really enjoy it!! Great book from a new writer!!
I always enjoy a breather from all the series, full-length, angst-filled books I read and when I read Taught's blurb, I was intrigued and thought this book would be it for me. It was and then it wasn't. The first page or two was enough to get my attention, by the next page I'm feeling a sense of deja vu from where the story is heading and what's going to happen.
Quick reads, novellas especially, with a good amount of romance and steam without compromising the characters' development and story flow are something I appreciate. I know it must be a challenge for authors to write a book with less than 100 pages and have it a complete story. While I loved the blurb, it was what made me want to read this after all, it felt a bit hurried for me to be into the characters. I know this is going to be a short read but I was still hoping to connect with the story. I guess being it 40 pages and reading like it was in fast forward, didn't work for me.
The writing, the first intro of the characters, and the hotness overall wasn't bad at all. I think if it was a bit longer, there will be an opportunity for a build up enough to make Marissa and Brady hold my interest.
Stars: 2.5 stars Recommended to: Novella fans. Readers in need of a quick book to finish. POV: First person. Female POV. Series: Yes. Not sure if standalone. Extra Comment: I wonder if the next book in the series will be a continuation. If it is, I would still like to give it a go and see how things will progress between Marissa and Brady.
A super short book with insta attraction/love that was reminiscent of FSOG when she was introduced to his lifestyle.
The synopsis, cover and title had me from the start and I couldn't waited start the journey of a young teacher that meets and is attracted to one of her students father. Sad to say, that's about where it left me. This book literally took me 20 mins to read.
I'm sure if there would've been more to the story than just this small bit I may have given it a higher rating. I'm ok with reading the first book in a series, but I need to have more than what we were given with this. There are not even any chapters in this story. It starts with PART ONE and all of a sudden says THE END. On a positive note, there is a promise of more to come. Maybe once I get part two I will be able to increase my rating but for now I'm sorry to say I have to give this book 2.5 'Crazie' Stars ~Cami
This is the first book i've read from this author and I'm really excited to read more.
Taught is book one in this series it's a very short quick read with tons of steam and hot sex.
Marisa Mitchell is a first grade teacher and on the first day of classes she meets one of her students dad Brady James and suddenly the rules of not lusting or dating students parents goes flying out the window.
Brady Janes is Hot and just enough of his tattoos peek out from his suit that leaves Melissa no choice when asked to meet up for drinks but what she doesn't expect is .... Who the real Brady is? And what he is into so when they end up at his place and enter his secret room all bets are off and Marissa is taken to a place where only she's experienced in her fantasy's.
This story is very quick and just gives us a glimpse of what's to happen but in saying that I'm really anticipating the next book to see where this all leads and yes the pages in your book will melt cause this bad boy knows how to make a girl scream
For me, this story was nothing like I imagined it to be. I thought it was going to be a sweet and cute story. It was the opposite. Not as much as a cute teacher and parent love story, as a lesson in sex ed with a Dom...
