A tale of family, forgiveness and friendship.

I do love Miranda.

She's powerful and loving and doesn't let her dyslexia get to her too much. (view spoiler)
Later rerated to*: 3.5 Stars

*I'm rerating a lot of the books I read in the past to fit my current taste. Most of the time it's downrating books that I thought I really liked at the time but there are a few exceptions. :) And it'd be too much to try to reflect these changes on my blog, so the ratings will remain as the original ones on Xingsings.

Do you ever feel like you can never get enough of a series? If so, I think that's where prequels and novellas come in.

I adore the Shadow Falls series, so I grabbed this book right away when I realized it existed!

What I find really interesting about this novella is that it's like a novel. Sure, it's short, but most novellas are only filler. They are intended to give more info, get inside of a different characters head, or just make the wait for the next book more bearable. All of these are

I like Miranda´s voice. The love triangle (or the hints of it) not so much.

I'll be perfectly honest, I started reading this novella and ended up so engrossed that I just ignored all the things I really needed to be doing today. And I don't regret it one little bit! I LOVED getting to be in Miranda's head for a change. I mean really, can a character get any more awesome than a dyslexic teenage witch? I don't think so. I also really enjoyed that Shadow Falls: After Dark fans (such as myself) got a few clues about what's happening in Della's story. Props to C.C. Hunter fo ...more

I'm a fan of the Shadow Falls and Shadow Falls: After Dark series. Though I have to admit, I didn't really care for Miranda in those books. She just seemed so whiny and dramatic, and I didn't know if I wanted to read a story about her. I decided to give this novella a try, and I'm glad I did. I better understand her now, and I think she really started to grow as a character and become stronger and more confident. There were tie-ins to Della's ongoing story, and many familiar faces from the two s ...more

I was gifted an ebook via Netgalley.

I read the first book in the Shadow Falls series many years ago. I liked it even though I did roll my eyes at it a bit for being so stereotypical and trope-y. I never did finish the series or start the spin-off series that this novella takes place in. I recently decided I did not want to finish the original series and decided I may want to look into if I would need to skim read to enjoy this novella. It turns out that it was a story that I didn't really need t

The world of Shadow Falls has been a favorite of mine since the very beginning! I loved Kylie's story and going with her on her journey about love, friends, learning what she is and all the adventures that came of it! I am loving Della's series as well as she learns more about her family ties and opening herself up to her feelings, whether they result in good or bad

Spellbinder is a novella in the Shadow Falls series by C.C. Hunter. The main series revolves around Kylie, but this one is about her friend Miranda. This series is full of different kinds of supernatural beings. Miranda is a dyslexic, teenage witch. She has always felt like a failure in her mother's eyes, and now her boyfriend has broken up with her so her life isn't going too great.

I really like Miranda, but I didn't love this book like I was hoping to. Don't get me wrong – it was good. I like
I just love the Shadow Falls series. I loved Kylie's story, I'm starting to like Della's story, and now I find out that there is a novella for Melissa and eeeeeeee I loved it!!! :D

At first, I was alittle hesitant to reading a book on Melissa's POV, because throughout the series I didn't really care for her and she always acted immature and fought with Della, but of course my curiousity got the better of me, and next thing I knew I was reading this novel.

In Spellbinder, we find out more about h
This was an interesting novella. Interesting because it didn't read like a novella at all. In my experience, the whole point of a novella is to provide extra information, appease readers between books, or to tell a scene from a different character's POV. I usually skip novellas because, well, I find them extremely boring and unnecessary. But not this one.

Spellbinder is a unique novella that presents its own plot and introduces new characters. In this story, Miranda is competing in a witch compet

Today’s the not the first day I’m making a mini book review, but it’s a first I’m putting it on its designated day. Why? Well, because throughout August I’ve been reading and reviewing, so I can put one or two mini review every second Sunday.

First of all, do not read this before reading both Reborn and Eternal, or at least Reborn! Trust me, I spoiled so much excitement because I read it. Second, why is this book not a Shadow Falls After Da

I fell in the love with Shadow Falls from the moment that I read Della's short story Turned at Dark. After reading all of the original Shadow Falls novels where Kylie is the main protagonist and the Shadow Falls: After Dark series where Della is the main protagonist that just continued to grow. Now with this novella we get a glimpse at the world the way Miranda sees it. We're also treated to an appeara

This book was okay…Miranda was my least favorite out of the main characters. She always seem dull to me and reading in her point of view is sort of nerve racking. Over the course of the book she just seemed really whiny about everything. Also, that love triangle was a snooze fest! There was really nothing special about Perry or Shawn.
I hate to compare the books but I can’t help it. Kylie and Della’s stories were just better to me. Their books had steam and the suspense factor. I know Miranda sh

I enjoyed Spellbinder immensely. It was definitely spellbinding. I just love the trio that is Miranda, Kylie and Della. In just 150 pages, the story had everything - romance, friendship, family and a bit of mystery too! It was awesome! I really liked the witchcraft aspect where the witches wiggled their pinky to cast spells (and it was especially funny when Miranda cursed a rogue vampire to having dog poo flung at him wherever he went!) I enjoyed both love interests. I'm looking forward to how t ...more

Miranda is the witch who botches her spells and then needs a hug. Right now she's nursing a broken heart, but moping hasn't gotten her anywhere, neither has killing fictional characters on her cellphone games. So she steps up to the plate and gives herself a professional witchy challenge. As always she has her best friends and maybe some love interest confusion. This was one of my favorites by C.C. Hunter and I want more Miranda and her wonky spells. ...more

A fun little story that gives much-needed depth to the character of Miranda

I'm disappointed that we are not getting a little Trilogy for Miranda but this short story packs a punch for her character. The magic system Shadow Falls world would be fun to explore in depth. While the author still relies on a love triangle subplot to push the romance the rest of the story is engaging and well worth the price. I've always felt that Miranda was sort of the hidden power house only getting to shine a few t

I have to say out of the 3 novellas in the Shadow Falls series this one is my favorite. From the books you have 3 best friend who room together at shadow falls school, the novellas tell of each ones story. You have Kylie (Protector) Della (Vampire) then you have Miranda (Witch). This one was Miranda's story and oh what a story, girl has guy problems 2 yes I said 2 guys love her, normally that would be reversed girls are the one who fall in love with more then one guy. Miranda finds out all kinds ...more

Get more familiar with zzeee witch of the series, Miranda. This takes place right after the second book of Shadow Falls After Dark, in which Della discovered Chase’s secret and is now looking for him, all the way to France, even. This story is mainly about Miranda participating in a witch competition that is set in Paris. There’s cheating, there’s murder, there’s mystery, there’s love triangle, there’s truths that Miranda uncovers. It was a cute shortstory. Lmao, this one scene got me laughing ‘ ...more

I loved that the focus was on Miranda, there are fun parts in this story but there are more shocking things that occurred then anything. We get to hear from Perry again, and is he ever regretting his actions. I like Shawn and feel bad for him and wonder what will happen with him. We got to read a little about our other favorite characters and sad about what is happening with Della and Chase for right now

This book like the rest of the series is phenomenal.

I'm in love with these characters. They have come to life for me, and I feel their ups and downs right along with them.. I truly can't pick which of the 3 best friends I like the most. Do yourself a favor and read all these books... I promise you wont be sorry!

I wished I had read this a few years ago because I would have loved it much more. I used to read Shadow Falls series years ago - absolutely loved it. This was a lot of info packed into a small amount of pages. There was never a dull moment in this Shadow Falls novella. I loved Miranda when we got Kylie's story, and I always wanted more of her. This little glimpse made me go out and one click her book. I need to know how her story plays out. I need to know what will happen with Perry. I just need to know more.
It was such a nice spin-off, it was so good to go back to that universe. Born at midnight is one of my favorite saga. We discover Miranda a little more, and even if she can get a little childish sometimes, she is still a badass witch. Loved it.
So glad Miranda got her own story~ She's always fun to read! ...more
