This is an easy read with some challenging vocabulary. My son loves Star Wars, especially BB-8 and he was excited to see what was going to happen when Rey found this little droid that was in trouble with some mean aliens. She ended up saving him and when you thought she was going to trade BB-8 in for food, she ended up liking the little guy and keeping him around instead.

Star Wars Rey Meets BB-8 is a nice read for beginning readers who are interested in Science Fiction and Star Wars. The story begins telling about Rey, who is a women who lives all alone on the planet of Jakku, it is really hot and sandy there. It is also very desolate and Rey gets lonely, she does not have any family or friends. She searches around the planet for things and parts to trade an alien for food. One day she hears a droid making noise and saw that a mean alien had captured it, she let the droid go. The mean alien did not want to fight her, she expected the driod to leave but it wanted to stay with her. Rey agrees to let him stay the night. She goes to trade things for food the next day, and the alien offers lots of food for the droid. Rey says no because she wants a friend more than food. I liked this story and it was a simple read. I recommend it to young readers, and I liked how Star Wars made a book for younger generations to begin reading.

This is a great way to introduce the idea of Star Wars to a younger child. I own the original trilogy Little Golden Books but they are just a little too wordy and complicated for my toddler. It's simple while still using words that may be unfamiliar to younger kids.

This was surprisingly well done for a basic beginner reader story. It was straight from "The Force Awakens" and told the part where Rey saves BB-8 and decides not to sell him but keep him for companionship. And who doesn't love Rey and BB-8??

Rey meets BB-8 in this simplified re-telling of a segment from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie.
Young readers and fans of Star Wars will love this segment that retells a segment of the movie in which Rey meets the robot BB-8. Digitally created scenes from the movie accompany a simple text developed for beginning readers. Short sentences will encourage the reader to continue on. If you have fans of Star Wars, this is a mist have in your library. Recommended for grades Pre-K through 2.
