I usually don't go for cheating books. I always say I don't want to deal with it in real life or in a book. After reading this book I had to think why I felt this way. I've realized reading is my escape and in the past I've read cheating books that made me sad, downright mad and I remember leaving the books with an icky feeling. But surprisingly this one actually worked for me.
The story opens with Laurie who is saddened and devastated by her husbands affair with her best friend. Laurie heads to Chicago on a business trip where she will decide the fate of her marriage. Will she end her marriage or will she forgive her husband and save it?
What she was not expecting on this trip was meeting Liam Parker. The handsome, aloof, sensual businessman man who wants nothing more from her except a night...or two. I don't want to give away how they meet, but the storyline flows well. The sex scenes were hot and so vivid I felt like I was in on the action.
This is my first book by this author and the writing was really good. I definitely sympathized with Laurie and I found myself rooting for her and hoping she makes the right decision. I was heavily invested in her character and relationships. It does become a bit of a love triangle though with Laurie deciding between her husband and Liam. So even though it was enjoyable to me, it may not be for everybody.

What would you do if your husband cheated on you? I would probably end up in jail if I did what I wanted to do. Actually, I think I could get away with it... with all the CSI shows I've watched. I'm just kidding.... sort of.
When Laurie's husband cheated on her, she was heart broken. She felt stupid. She was so in love with James that she didn't even know there were any issues in their marriage. James was her high school sweetheart, and he had sex with her best friend.
She didn't know what to do. Then here comes Liam. He's sexy, hot, and confident. He makes her body scream. Too bad he's her new boss. He bought out her company, and she works directly with him. Liam first told her that he doesn't do long term relationships, but he ends up wanting more.
Being with Liam makes Laurie feel beautiful and sexy. Her confidence is growing. But how can she let go of all the memories with James?
I really liked this book. Laurie isn't outgoing or loud, but I was able to get really attached to her. I felt her confusion. I can't wait to see how next book goes.

There's plenty of reviews on here explaining what happens in this story, so I'm not going to rehash the whole thing again. It was a lot different than I thought it would be going into it. Laurie's emotions in this story were completely believable, and I loved all the blindsiding shock events thrown at her from everybody she knew and trusted in this story. I loved this story so much! I couldn't put it down, finished it in one sitting, and I'm headed to start book 2 next!

Why the heck did I choose this book and its sequel? It had 2 strikes against it before I even downloaded it.
Strike 1. I may love a good cheating husband book, but I hate tit for tat cheating heroines.
Strike 2. I really hate love triangles.
The book opens with the heroine getting away to make a decision about whether or not to stay with her husband--the husband who had a ONS with his assistant and immediately regrets it and is groveling and begging for forgiveness. She literally bangs into hero #2 and falls into instant lust and sleeps with him and continues to do so for much more than a ONS.
Who has the high road here? I'm supposed to be sympathetic to a wife who is beyond devastated by her husbands behavior, feels guilty about her own affair, comes home and immediately files for divorce, but continues sleeping with hero #2 and continues to be pissy about her husbands behavior.
Once again I'm forced to think... glass houses, baby??
Hero #2 proves he's not such a great guy...

I will say, the author has a strong understanding that lust and love do not equate.

This was the first book I've ever read by this author, but definitely won't be the last. This story had me intrigued from the very first page. I love a strong female lead and Laurie was the perfect mix of strength, femininity and vulnerability. It has been awhile since I've liked a heroine as much as Laurie. She drew me into the story right from the start and I felt vested in her plight.
On the other hand, Laurie's husband, James, is the type of character I love to hate. After cheating on his wife with her best friend, who is also his secretary, he has the gall to try and make Laurie feel like it is her fault that he can't keep it in his pants! He tries to come off as remorseful and apologetic, but his actions speak louder and they say he's a sleaze! I'm guessing that his affair was more than a single drunken night and that the reason he hasn't fired the secretary has less to do with HR and more to do with his philandering ways.
Then, there's Liam. He's the sexy, mysterious man that Laurie plans to have a one-night stand with while she's on a business trip. One night ends up not being enough for either of them. He's got quite a few surprises in store for Laurie as well. It turns out that he's been less than honest with her on more than a few occasions.
Through it all, Laurie maintains an air of confidence and poise that is pretty remarkable. This lady might just be my new girl-crush! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series and see how Laurie bests these two men!

Loved this book so much.....every woman has a time in her life when she just wants to forget. What better way to forget than with a hawt alpha male who plays your body like a finely tuned instrument??? Nothing lasts forever & reality has a way of kicking our bums into action whether we want to act or not & that's exactly what happened. Liam is all kinds of sexy & I liked him very much. I cannot wait for Embrace to be released to see where Laurie's journey takes her.

Laurie's perfect world changed when she overhead her husband James and her best friend Becky talking about a night they spent together. For the past month, James has apologized daily and swears it will never happen again, but Laurie can't get past the hurt or lack of trust. Out of town for a business trip, she literally runs into the most gorgeous man she's ever seen. Liam invites her to meet him for a drink. Bitter at James, she agrees. She just wants to feel something other than hurt. One drink turns into one night, which turns into two nights. Laurie can't get Liam out of her mind but she assumes she'll never see him again. She's only been with two men in her entire life and decides she's just needs to forget it happened. But then a bomb is dropped and she learns Liam is her new boss.
I loved this book! Cheating isn't something I usually like, but it works in this story. I am so hoping Laurie and Liam get a happy ending. He's mysterious and keeps some really important information from her, but you can tell that Laurie effects him as much as he does her. James of course is determined not to give up. I think Becky is going to cause some problems sooner or later and I'm ready for Laurie to slap her. The next book Embrace releases in May. There is just something about Liam that has me crossing my fingers that things will work. Entice ends in a rather stressful place, and I can't wait to see what happens next. Entice by S. Layne is HOT!!!! This is the first book in the Affair Series and does contain a cliffhanger ending. I cannot wait until book two is released. I am hooked on this series like an addict waiting for their next fix. I can’t say that about many books but I can definitely say this about this one.
Entice is a story about the heroine, Laurie Baker, and the hero, Liam Parker. What is supposed to just be a one night stand for Laurie ends up with her life in total upheaval. Liam manages to plant himself into Laurie’s life in more ways than she is comfortable with. Now her life is at crossroads and she has decisions to make.
The dynamic between Laurie and Liam is fabulous and the sex scenes are just too hot to handle. Even though there is a lot of sex in this book, there is a captivating storyline underneath. I am finding myself routing for Laurie and hoping she gets her happily ever after…whatever that may be. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
If you are a reader looking for a hot, captivating erotic romance, this series is for you. The story will draw you in from the beginning and be prepared to not be able to put the book down.

I love a book that messes with my head and this story definitely did that. This is a story about a couple who have been together since they were teens and dealing with the repercussions of an affair. I immediately put myself into their situation, trying to imagine what it would feel like to be this couple and the gamut of emotions that come from a betrayal like this.
Until now, Laurie and James have had a wonderful marriage, one that others envy. So much so that a person who has their sights set on James takes advantage of a weak moment in their relationship. This completely decimates their happy life and has Laurie rethinking any sort of future with James.
James is desperate to hold his marriage together and is genuinely remorseful, fully understanding the impacts of what he has done. Just to put it into perspective, he is not having an affair with anyone but he did sleep with a woman he works with, who was his wife’s best friend, so heavy stuff.
Laurie heads off to a work conference for the weekend and absorb what has happened but crosses paths with a man who offers her a night of no strings sex. She knows she shouldn;t be tempted but all the hurt over what has happened to her marriage has her wanting to lose herself in another man. And lose herself she does, Liam is demanding and sexy as fuck. He takes her to sexual heights she never could have imagined.
However, things go completely tits up when she returns home and finds out that Liam is in fact her new boss. Just to makes things more challenging is fighting the constant desire she has around him. Liam claims to only ever spend one night with any partner and that he only fucks for pleasure. He seems to have trouble sticking to his rules when it comes to Laurie though.
When Liam completely betrays Laurie she has some tough decisions to make. Everything she has worked so hard for could be for nothing. And then there is James, he is patiently waiting for Laurie to show him any sign of forgiveness. James will not give up on the love of his life, he only hopes that Laurie will one day feel the same way.
I could not put this down and am already half way through the second book!

Well, I like the sound of this, though I’m not keen on cheating in a novel there’s no denying it does create drama – and I love that.
Anyway. we meet Laurie who’s had her world rocked – and not in a good way.There she was thinking she had it all, perfect loving husband, her first and only love, great job that she enjoys and a couple of fabulous best friends. Then at a dinner party at their house she overhears her husband talking about an affair...and it turns out he cheated on her with one of her best friends, his secretary!
He’s sorry, says it was a one off, and vows it will never happen again, but of course she’s still there as his secretary, nothing he can do about that and Laurie is still in shock. She doesn’t know if she can ever get back what they had. James is desperate to make amends, and seems to bitterly regret what happened. In a way I kind of felt sorry for him, one huge mistake and he’s risked everything. It’s clear that his secretary is no real friend to Laurie, and has just been waiting for the right moment, but that doesn’t excuse what he did. He seems such a great guy, truly loves Laurie – but he cheated, and it takes someone special to be able to get past that. He can’t explain why he did it and so Laurie can’t see why he wouldn’t do it again – they’re going round in circles, and getting nowhere. She wants to go to counselling but he won’t – its reached decision time and she’s got a work event needing her away for a few days. That will give her space to think and she says she’ll decide one way or the other then.
Its not that simple though when she bumps into Liam at the hotel. She’s shocked at the searing attraction to him she feels. He wants her too, but for one night only he says, that's all he ever does, never more, no love, no emotion, just incredibly hot and erotic sex. And he delivers all that and more.... I’d find it hard to forgive James, and like her I’d be wondering what went wrong, what did they lack that he needed to look elsewhere? If a couple are perfect then it seems to me they don’t need anyone else, so if they do then there’s something lacking in the relationship. Or maybe he’s just a total jerk, untrustworthy, manwhore type – but James is very far from that and does seem to have genuine remorse. I was a bit unsure of her decision to meet with Liam though, she tells herself its only a drink but in her heart she knows he’ll try to make it more and she’ll go along with it. Is it because she needs to feel wanted again? She seems to feel James felt she was lacking somehow, and maybe seeing the want for her, the need in Liam's eyes is what her poor bruised self esteem needs. Poor Laurie, it works in the moment but long term she just ends up with even more problems...
Its a book full of questions, and before starting I felt that James cheated, he’s out and the new guy will be in, fall in love with Laurie and get over his one night only stuff. However it changes pretty quickly for me, I sympathised with James, which I didn’t expect. I liked Liam at first, but then his secrets and hot/cold emotions began to make me feel Laurie deserved better. It gets deeper and deeper, more confusing and even more decisions for Laurie at the end, and though I’ve book two on my kindle I needed to get my thoughts down for this one first. That was hard waiting – so todays reading will be see what happens next. There’s plenty of emotion and drama in this, perfect for me, and a good balance of sex v story but it does centre around the three main characters and anything else really just floats in as back-up. I felt I’d have liked a bit broader story, not just what feels like one extended plot. What there is definitely rates five stars but its not solid enough for a keeper.

Well, I like the sound of this, though I’m not keen on cheating in a novel there’s no denying it does create drama – and I love that.
Anyway. we meet Laurie who’s had her world rocked – and not in a good way.There she was thinking she had it all, perfect loving husband, her first and only love, great job that she enjoys and a couple of fabulous best friends. Then at a dinner party at their house she overhears her husband talking about an affair...and it turns out he cheated on her with one of her best friends, his secretary!
He’s sorry, says it was a one off, and vows it will never happen again, but of course she’s still there as his secretary, nothing he can do about that and Laurie is still in shock. She doesn’t know if she can ever get back what they had. James is desperate to make amends, and seems to bitterly regret what happened. In a way I kind of felt sorry for him, one huge mistake and he’s risked everything. It’s clear that his secretary is no real friend to Laurie, and has just been waiting for the right moment, but that doesn’t excuse what he did. He seems such a great guy, truly loves Laurie – but he cheated, and it takes someone special to be able to get past that. He can’t explain why he did it and so Laurie can’t see why he wouldn’t do it again – they’re going round in circles, and getting nowhere. She wants to go to counselling but he won’t – its reached decision time and she’s got a work event needing her away for a few days. That will give her space to think and she says she’ll decide one way or the other then.

I feel like I have to smack a big, old warning label on this book because the subject matter is a hard limit for some readers, so here goes: The heroine in this book is married.
There, now that's out of the way let the review continue. This book is all kinds of grab your vibrator (or spouse), cold shower material. I thought I was going to incinerate just reading. Yowzers!
Laurie is away on a business trip. She's also away to contemplate whether or not to end her marriage. So of course, what's a girl to do when a hot specimen of Alpha male goodness propositions her? Hmm...
Entice is a spicy, spectacular little book, if you can get past the cheating aspect. I try to be an open-minded reader with most of the books I pick up. Sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn't. It did in this case. I really liked this book. Yes, there's a cliffy but calm down, the next book releases relatively quickly.
There's a lot more to this book than just the affair. We get into the more nitty gritty stuff towards the end and then, well, we have to wait for book two. Great beginning to a new, sexy series. I'm definitely going to be reading the second book and am stocking up on batteries. *wink* ~ Erin, 4.5 stars

I love a book that can make me FEEL. Even it is an uncomfortable feeling. Within the first few chapters of this book I felt every emotion. Mostly anger.
I knew this was a book of betrayal and cheating and I went through the emotions with Laurie. I was pissed at her for her actions; on one hand, it made me furious but on the other, it was so...human. It was intriguing to watch her life play out when one thing leads to another. When pain drives you to sin. When lust brings you to your knees.
"How did I become this woman I don't even recognize anymore?"
Once Liam and Laurie become more than a one night stand, this book becomes impossible to put down. The once sex-stagnant married woman becomes Liam's "wild one." And wild they are. This review is going to be difficult to write. Not because I didn't like the book, because I LOVED the book, but because I feel like I need to review this AND the sequel at the same time. I read both in one night--it was just TOO FREAKING ADDICTING to stop. There's just so much to say regarding the book, and so many things that can almost be given away if you're not careful. But I feel like I don't really have much of a choice to give *some* of it away to explain how the book made me feel.
Laurie found out that her husband, James, cheated on her with her best friend. She's heartbroken, and with good reason. He wants to have her back, but she's reluctant and needs her space to figure out what she wants in the end. So, she goes away for the weekend for business, hoping to gain perspective. While she's there, she runs into Liam...literally. The attraction between the two is immediate, and their desires override the ability to think everything through.
Not everything is as it seems once morning arrives, and by the end of the weekend, Laurie finds out that she hasn't seen the last of Liam. On top of that discovery, she comes home to find James still fighting for her. Let me tell you... tears... just so many tears at that scene, I can't even right now thinking about it. As the story progresses with Laurie trying to figure out what's next for herself, your heart is dragged through every range of emotion known to man, and by the end? You're so torn up, you don't even know where to begin again.
Entice drew me in, kept me there, and held onto my emotions even after it was over. The story was powerful--so powerful that I still can't stop thinking about it. In fact, I want to read it all over again. S. Layne has created a gripping romance for the ages. Like I mentioned before, I had to read Embrace right after Entice--it was that good. Get your hands on this series NOW.

Get ready to fall in love!!! This is a brand new book by S.Layne and it seems to have it all. It is hot, crazy intense and makes you fell a little of everything!!
Laurie Baker had everything. She was married to her best friend, had a great job and was happy. Then she find out her husband has cheated on her. This is the first in a long line of dominoes of bad things to come. Laurie is having a bad few weeks.
Laurie decided she needs time away from her husband to think. She goes away to a conference where she was going to be a lone, work and think. I honestly thinks she needed a round the world vacation!!
While she is at the conference she runs into a hot British stranger who makes her feel things she didn't even know existed anymore. What is she to do??? Two wrongs don't make a right, but it could make her feel better
What starts off as a one time thing leads to more when neither want to separate for long. A weekend affair is helping Laurie feel better about herself, and putting her marriage into perceptive.

This is the first book in the Affairs Series (note the word affairs). I do not usually read books dealing with affairs. However, the story is wonderfully told it's not just about having an affair it's about dealing with the aftermath.
Laurie is married and coming to terms with her husbands affair. She leaves on a business trip deciding whether or not to end her marriage to her high school sweetheart or trying to work it out. She is propositioned by some yummy goodness, what is a girl to do. Yes, two wrongs don't make a right but Liam is just to good to pass up.
I will admit that I was pissed that she jumped into bed with the first offer, but you can feel her anger over her husband's betrayal. Liam offers her a one night stand - he doesn't do relationships. Will Laurie be the one to change him?
Ms. Layne's characters are strong, well defined, and smoking hot. Her story line flows and twists enough to keep you interested. A book that makes you feel is a book worth reading and this one made me feel alot of emotions; anger, heartache, and LUST to name a few.
If you are looking for a romance with some serious heat - Entice is smoking hot.

I must say that I absolutely loved this book!! I found myself actually chuckling out loud at some parts while others really tore at my heart strings. This book is about a married couple who after many years together, work become the forefront to each Laurie and James. With that there are always feelings of neglect and loneliness. When James doesn't feel those special moments with his wife, Laurie, any longer he starts to feel neglected and is receiving attention from another woman. Of course he makes a stupid decision that really puts his marriage on the rocks that he comes to regret.
In walks Liam to help Laurie forget. It's a chance encounter. Or is it? Laurie's entire world is rocked to her core. Nothing is as it seems and she can't seem to trust anyone. How do you rebuild your life? Who can or do you trust? Do you stay with comfort and deceit or someone new who has lots of dark secrets them self?
If your looking for a good book that's going to grip you from the start, that has such good characters you find yourself rooting for all of them and leaves you wanting more at the end? Then THIS book is for you!!

Entice is beautifully heartbreaking and deeply passionate. Laurie has to walk out on her husband, her high school sweetheart, because she found him cheating on her. She goes to a work convention for the weekend and promptly runs smack into Liam. The two have a deep attraction that neither want to deny.
Liam is crude, wicked, and demanding. Liam has all the makings of a redeemable hero and gives Laurie pleasure she didn't think possibly. Laurie is torn apart by her failing marriage, her attraction to Liam, and yet another few twists that get thrown into the mix.
I loved Liam and loved him with Laurie. While he has character flaws, he clearly cares about Laurie as more than a simple fuck. They are addicted to one another but it isn't purely physical. This book leaves you with a cliffhanger and all but forces you to read the next book, Embrace.

Entice has it all. Betrayal, love, hot sex. When Laurie’s husband betrays her with her best friend she doesn’t know if she can forgive him. Laurie’s work sends her to a medical conference and she uses this time to get away and think. While checking in the hotel she meets Liam, who is so hot and sexy and she feels drawn to him. He asks for her to have a drink and what is supposed to be one night turns in to more. Then her world gets turned even more upside down and her heart is broken again. Can she move on and be stronger and not let her decisions be made because of another man? I highly recommend this book.

WOW! Can we say hot hot hot!!!!! S. Layne blew me away with this book. When faced with a life changing decision Laurie takes off to think. She wasn't expecting to meet sexy, intriguing and handsome Liam. The chemistry between These two was intense and some kind of hot! Can one night change your life? Can passion turn into more? For Laurie and Liam I believe it has. I'm looking forward to more of their story. I'm totally invested in these characters and rooting for their HEA. I highly recommend you dive into Entice, it was a 5 star read for me.

Once again Stacey has got me counting the days until I can get my hands on the next book! I started this late last night and did not put it down until I finished. Laurie experienced the ultimate betrayal to only find herself face to face with another heartbreak. This one possibility worse than the first.

Good storyline
