Stepbrother With Benefits #3

Stepbrother With Benefits 3

I thought I was a good girl, but then why do I love hearing all of the naughty things he says he wants to do to me?

-----

Rule #3 – You can change your mind, Ashley. Not just now. Whenever.

I could tell Ethan that the only thing I'll regret about this is that we only have a week together. Except I can never tell him that. I need to stop. I need to understand that this is a temporary situation and that I'll never have it ever again, because no matter what, it won't work out, whether I want it to or not.

-----

Ethan is a cocky, arrogant jerk. He's always been that way. Why do girls trip over their own feet just to be with him? I don't know! I'll never understand it. Don't they realize he's just going to ditch them after a couple of weeks?

Yes, he can be nice when he wants to be. It's true that he's ridiculously attractive, too. It's not like I want to stare at him when he walks around shirtless, but it's hard not to notice someone like him. He's got that bad boy smile that makes you want to...

Did I mention he's my stepbrother? Ick.

What? You think I'm falling for him? Nope! It's impossible.

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Diving Deeper

Ethan and Ashley continue to mark out their path. I'm enjoying the mix of steaming hot naughtiness with Ashley's innocence and Ethan's inexplicable desire to make her happy and protect her.

I listened to an author's copy of the audio book. CJ Bloom and James Cavenaugh are well suited for the characters. ❤️

Story: 4 stars
Narration: 4 stars

*there is a short scene where Ashley finds herself in an unsafe situation.

Okay, it must be said, I am invested in this story. I found the writing in book three to be much stronger and engaging and the character development was fun to explore. The romance this time around was touched on a lot more with still plenty of smut (which I enjoyed greatly) and I really liked seeing that softer side of the relationship between these two. We began to see feelings develop, more emotion explored during the intimacy and again, little side characters played their part well. Saying that, I felt as though the dialogue for said side characters was weak and rushed and I would have enjoyed it far more if we had certain scenes last a little longer to create more overall emotions but the story did develop thanks to these moments regardless.

I'm loving seeing a softer side of Ethan and his POV was written in a way that was genuinely fun to read. The smut was great... obviously and I can honestly say I am actually interested in what will happen in book four.

Great benefits!

I really like the tabooish stepbrother/ stepsister stories, so needless to say I really liked this one too. It's a series of short stories that males up one whole. So yeah, you have to but them all, preferably at once. Because if you're anything like me, you'll go through them really fast.

- FMC: Ashley
- MMC: Ethan
- POVs Included: Dual POVs (Ashley, Ethan)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Ashley and Ethan take a break from their sexcapades to get some food. But a french fry excursion turns into dinner and a drive-in movie, which suspiciously sounds like a date to Ethan.

He tries to clarify with Ashley that they aren't dating. But Ashley wants the cuddles and sweet stuff too. And Ethan is having a hard time saying no to her.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

In this installment, Ashley and Ethan start crossing lines into the relationship territory. Ashley is desperate for connection, considering she has never had a decent boyfriend who treated her right. And it's kind of sweet that Ethan "puts up with it", even though he secretly seems pretty into it.

We also unearth some possible suppressed feelings they might have started having for each other before becoming step-siblings. Interesting that there may have been an attraction between them before.

The writing style and dialog is still horrendous. They are constantly talking to the reader, sounding like tools, and cutting off their thoughts and sentences. BUT, like I said before, I still really like the story itself. And they are kind of endearing, so it's making me want to continue. Plus, I'm kind of adjusting to the weird writing style. Not going to ever love it, but the adorableness of the plot and their relationship seems to be enough to compensate for it.

Overall it's still a cute and steamy series. I love the characters and their dynamic, even if they aren't the brightest crayons in the box. Still going to read on to see what happens with them. :)

4.5

This one was better than the last one. I think the sex was sexier for the simple fact that it just seemed more normal (not to undermine how hot the pool table was in the last book). I think it's a little early in the game for Ashley to be acting the way she is though. She's already kind of lovey-dovey, wanting to go on dates to drive ins and cuddling at night. She wants to go the whole second day without any sex, and Ethan agreed to it, but I don't think they're going to last too long before one of them breaks in the next book. So far I've really enjoyed this. The whole talking to the reader thing is slightly annoying, but the book is so short anyway that it doesn't take too long to get used to

This one picks up right where the last one left off. This is the third book and I would highly recommend reading the first two before this one. It is hot and explicit and this time around we get to see a little bit more building between the characters beyond just the physical/sex aspect. There is a little bit more of the dating side of things even though that isn’t what it’s supposed to be about between them. The story is pretty short and hot and kept my attention throughout the story.

Ethan is crass and vulgar. He has a predilection for using the f-bomb and talking dirty. If this offends you, this is probably not the series for you. This being said, he also has a sweetness to him he does well to hide but for with Ashley.

Ashley is intelligent and spreading her sexual wings, so to speak. She's still not sure she's doing the right thing, but it feels so good. Plus, she might be starting to feel something for Ethan...

One thing that's really stood about about this series is how directly Ethan talks to the reader as if in a conversation and/or reacting to them. I'm not sure I exactly like this approach to writing, but it hasn't put me off either. Prepare to be sworn at repeatedly and told to mind your own f**king business. Ashley doesn't do this so much. She's technically talking to the reader as well, but it doesn't feel like it so much. It's not in your face like with Ethan. It's not so much her interacting with the reader as it is a narrative. I tend to like this approach more, but I love reading Ethan's chapters and finding out what's going on in his head.

TITLE: #3, Stepbrother With Benefits
SERIES: Stepbrother With Benefits
AUTHOR: Mia Clark
GENRE: ROMANCE

MY RATING: 1 STARS

★★ Cute, Seductive, AND Predictable!!★★

** This series is pretty predictable in my opinion. Not to say I didn't enjoy some parts of this book but found myself skipping ahead either because of boredom or predictability. It's a good book if your looking for a romantic, fast and easy read **

My favorite quotes:
Rule #3 – You can change your mind, Ashley. Not just now. Whenever.

She laughs and giggles and squirms as I tickle and tease her.  This is fun.  Playful as fuck, and she's cute when she smiles.  Gorgeous, really.  I could get used to this. Don't get the wrong idea.  I'm just saying I could.

"I'll give you romantic, Princess. Your breasts are so nice I want to lay you down in my bed, romantically, and then straddle your stomach and thrust my cock in between your beautiful mountains and valleys while I pinch your peaked nipples of perfection." -said again by my current fictional boyish obsession

This was another good one. My favorite part was when Ethan's friend came over and hit on Ashley, and Ethan punched his lights out.

Moving on...

This book held a lot of romantic tension. They had a lot of sex as usual but they were both fighting warring emotions for each other, both denying feelings for the other.

I think that in later books they will probably end up together, giving up on denying what's so obvious between them. I really hope I'm right.

There were so many scenes I liked in this book.

-The carpool movie
-The handjob in his sleep
-And overall just the way Ethan's mind works around how he feels towards Ashley

Again, I'm ready to see what happens next.

"What do you want to do?" She asks.
"I want to watch this movie and then go home and fuck you."

So this one was a trip. The sex scenes are better and more risky. They're getting careless and time is running out on their whole step siblings with benefits thing. They're clearly in love with each other, the author couldn't have made that more obvious. Ethan is going soft and resorting to cuddling and hand holding over sex. He's losing some of the things that make him such an asshole in the first place. All because of her. The cringe in this book is still there but now I'm kind of just here for it. There's nothing insanely boring about the books and I get a really short but sweet vibe after finishing them. Even gives me a sense of accomplishment. Well done. Recommend. Four stars.

I liked this slice of life. It was entertaining and enjoyable even though it's more like an episode of a TV show than a book. A book to me has a distinct beginning, middle, and end while this book just stopped. The characters were interesting and you got to hear from both of them. Ethan and Ashley's unusual agreement continued. They have a "date". Ethan's friend came over causing drama and angst to occur. Ashley tells Ethan a fantasy that she had.

I thought the story was interesting but I wanted more. The narrators did an excellent job, especially because of the way the story is written, it's as if the characters were talking directly to you as the listener (or reader). It's smutty and short but good. I recommend listening to this audiobook (or reading the ebook).

A short, taboo read / listen - well written and plenty steamy. The story continues as the week progresses for Ethan and Ashley and lines become more blurred as to the emotional boundaries trying to be set and enforces. Ashley is a good girl and naïve where Ethan is struggling to stay a nice a$$ hole. I adore the dual narration on this series - it is perfection and I love Clark's writing in how I feel like Ethan is actually talking to the reader. Dual point of view is well done and I don't feel that anything is duplicated unnecessarily. Well done all around if your looking for a good taboo - check this series out!

Least favorite so far

Stanley's naivety really annoys me. That and her insecurity. I'm hoping they both get banged out of her, because I really don't want to read her fishing for compliments much longer. I still really love Ethan, but I do wish there was less internal monologue. I like the idea of breaking the fourth wall, but there's too much of it all. I want to read about what is actually going on, not two pages dedicated to finding ingredients to make a Greek omelet. Still going to power through to the next one.

It’s like a kinky soap opera!!!

I’m really enjoying these quick stories!! Ethan is starting to realize slowly but surely, that when it comes to Ashley, he may not be that big of a jerk after all..
I’m really enjoying the progress and the development of this story.. I really enjoy the off beat dialogue, corky humor that both Ethan and Ashly have when talking with each other as we wait for a response🥵!

If you like something this quick, funny, sexy and sweet, you will enjoy this series!

On to book 4

I received the audio for Free to Give My True & Honest Review.

We stay off with Ethan 'talking' just really where we ended book 2 & as I went straight into it from reading book 2 it then felt like I went into a new chapter, so I don't know what it'll be like having to wait a little while for the next release, which I'll be seeing when I carry-on to book 4.
I am really liking this series, makes you well me imagine/ remind being a Teen & starting that first connection with someone for the first time, so I'll look forward to see their ending 😘

More exploration of the “benefits” between Ashley and Ethan (stepsiblings). While this is only to last a week, I believe feelings are starting to get real between them. Ashley is more innocent than I thought. I love how Ethan is being so kind and open with her. There are a lot of things that Ashley is unaware of. She feels like she doesn’t want this to end after a week, but does Ethan feel the same? Only time will tell. Bring on the next book in this series! 🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧

Well, I’m still enjoying the heck out of these two kids! This installment is where we have some steps that seem to be moving this relationship from benefits to more and I am here for it! I love that this storyline is more than just the taboo aspect of a stepsibling romance and Mia Clark is showcasing that! There is a lot of character growth starting to happen as well with these kids and I’m here for that as well.

And yes, I’m still loving CJ Bloom & James Cavenaugh!

I absolutely loved the MMC’s authorial intrusion in this one—it’s so funny and perfectly done. As a reader, I can see him falling in love, and he’s quite literally trying to convince me (and himself) that he’s not. It’s so much fun, and while this style isn’t for everyone, it’s one of my absolute favorites.

The spice leans almost sweet in this one—still very much there, still forbiddenly filthy—but there’s something about it that feels a little softer and more tender. A perfect balance that makes it all the more enjoyable!

Things between Ashley and Ethan have gotten sweeter. For Ashley, “benefits” doesn’t just mean time in bed together. She sees Ethan as more of a temporary boyfriend and takes advantage of the chance to go out and do all the couple-y things she’s always wanted to do. Surprising even himself, Ethan goes along with it. There’s still plenty of steamy moments, but feelings are starting to emerge for real now.

This a long series…

I like the couple, but I think my time with them has come to an end.

Each book has a bit of spice and little bit of a story. Book 2 I felt was a bit fleshed out and I really enjoyed their story. Book 3 felt a bit empty and a little boring.

I like Ash and Ethan, but I’m not prepared for a long roller coaster of this series. It’s me, not them.

Maybe I’ll revisit the series again, but for now, I’m good.

Another installment

We are seeing them slowly beginning to realize deeper connections with each other. I really don't like Ashley in this one though. She's whiney, emotional, and seems manipulative. Maybe it'll get better. I've read these before, but I don't remember much of it or how far I binged.
