Indie Luce is burnt out, broke and Divinely Marked. A hospice nurse acutely aware of the Spirit World around her, she tries desperately to piece her life together after the suicide of her twin brother just one year ago. Taking a position to provide end-of-life care for one of the most powerful men in the world, she finds herself unknowingly in a battle for her sanity and more importantly her soul. As a spiritual war rages silently onward, descendants of those like Indie are systematically tempted and taken and the momentum to tip the scale into depravity becomes impossible to stop. What Indie Luce doesn’t know about her past could place her future in the hands of Darkness. Can the light of one selfless young woman hold the key to the delicate balance of good and evil? She is only one. But what if one is all that is needed?
Kris Calvert is a former copywriter and PR mercenary who after some coaxing, began writing novels. She loves alliteration, pearls and post-it notes. She’s married to the man of her dreams and lives in Lexington, Kentucky. She’s Momma to two grown kids, and is also responsible for one very needy rescue pup. When she’s not writing, she’s baking GF cupcakes.
Kris is a master of words and this book is riveting! Indie is strong and amazing. Mike and the Thornburys are a mystery. Now on to the next installment of Indie's adventure!
Wow!!!! This book had me wondering what was really happening from beginning until the end. I loved it! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a book that makes you think. I believe Darynda Jones fans will enjoy this book. Amazing, simply, amazing.

I was reading the reviews and saw this compared to Darynda Jones, so I was sold. This lived up to my expectations and more. The story of Indriel kept me guessing the whole way through and I can see there's much more to learn. I'm ready for more!
This gave me adult Hush, Hush vibes on speed. Ended this book with more questions than answers because it felt more like a prequel to a much larger story.
*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.* So, I occasionally got confused with this story. Was Mike real? What's going on with Indie? Is she crazy? But, in all, I enjoyed this story. It was suspenseful and held my interest. But I'm disappointed with the ending. I feel that it was rushed and didn't exactly make sense. I'm wondering if the next book will clear things up a little more for me? If the ending had been worked out a little better, I would have given this a 5 star rating. There was 1 or 2 small editing errors, but nothing crazy. Basically just wrong word in the wrong place. This was still an interesting story though. If you enjoy stories that make you think and realize what's really going on, then pick this up. I'll be looking forward to the next story.
At some point there is a fine line between good & evil and light & darkness. How do you know where that line is and when you may cross it? This thought provoking book has you examining everyday decisions you may be making that could lead you toward temptations without you even realizing it. It can give you a feeling of unease with your reality. I finished reading the book a couple of weeks ago and at least once every day something has come up that has made me think about the contents of this book. It is that freaking good. I love a book that is enjoyable reading but also can spike my emotions and stir up my thoughts.
Kris weaves narrative magic so potent, you'll find yourself willingly kidnapped by her literary charm, begging for narrative breadcrumbs. This tome is a delectable literary cocktail—part swoon-worthy romance, part enigmatic whisper—that leaves you frantically turning pages like a detective with a caffeine addiction. Indie Luce's world? Consider me thoroughly hooked and shamelessly eager for the next installment.
I love this book. I was so lucky to win this in the goodreads give away. This book I couldn't put down. It was exciting and kept me on my toes. Once I thought I figured everything out I realized I was wrong. I feel like this book is defiantly worth the read and time. 5 stars. Great job Kris Calvert and I hope to continue my reading experience with your other books.
I won this in a Goodreads giveaway and I'm thrilled that I did. It kept me reading and wanting to know what was going to happen next. I can't wait for Deliver Me From Evil (Divine Darkness book 2) to be published, sure hope that it is soon! I need some more of Indie, Mike and David! I would recommend this book to anyone!!
Kris always writes these amazing women for her heroines. This story was full of both romance and mystery, and I am just dying to know what's going to happen with Indie in the future.
Loved it! Not at all what I was expecting. I can't wait for the next in the series. I need more explaining done. The necklace? Frank? Good or bad??? so many questions!
I love Calvert's Sex, Lies series and Beauty, so I assumed I would enjoy this as well. I assumed correctly. Brilliant. I'm looking forward to more Indie.
