2014 was undoubtedly "The Year Of The Swift" in my opinion. If she wasn't shakin' it off to one of the best pop tunes in decades, she was offering brilliant feminist sound-bites to get her young "swifties" feeling strong, independent and powerful. The I Love Mel brand is the work of Mel Elliott a Hastings, UK based Artist, Writer, & Publisher. Known mostly for her contemporary colouring books Mel also designs and produces Paper Doll books & slogan pencils all with a celebrity culture theme.
Mel has also produced books for other publishers. Starting with the 1980´s Bumper Activity book, she then made Colour Me Swoooon and Colour Me Girl Crush which were published by London publisher Pavilion in the UK and Penguin books in the USA. Mel´s recent project for Pavilion is a more serious how to book of Artistic techniques called How to make Art.
In March 2016, Quercus published The David Bowie Colouring Book, a celebration of the great icon. Egmont published the first of the Pearl Power series, The Girl With Two Dads, in 2019.
This book makes Taylor Swift seem really condescending and like she's judging you each time you turn the page! But I love it. She has every right to judge me.
