Murakami has also published five short story collections, including First Person Singular (2020), and non-fiction works including Underground (1997), an oral history of the Tokyo subway sarin attack, and What I Talk About When I Talk About Running (2007), a memoir about his experience as a long distance runner.
His fiction has polarized literary critics and the reading public. He has sometimes been criticised by Japan's literary establishment as un-Japanese, leading to Murakami's recalling that he was a "black sheep in the Japanese literary world". Meanwhile, Murakami has been described by Gary Fisketjon, the editor of Murakami's collection The Elephant Vanishes (1993), as a "truly extraordinary writer", while Steven Poole of The Guardian praised Murakami as "among the world's greatest living novelists" for his oeuvre.

داستان جالب از موراکامی ... یک خصیصۀ خوبی که داستان های موراکامی داره این هست که از یک موضوع پیش پا افتاده و ساده، یهوویی میاد و یک داستانِ خیره کننده و محشر به وجود میاره... عجب ذهنِ خلاقی داره... تو همین داستان اگر دقت کنید، متوجه منظورم میشید ( کوچکتر شدنِ فیل از مرد) .. جالب بود
راستی دوستان گرامی و خردمندِ من، شاید منظور از موراکامی فقط و فقط نوشتن و خلقِ یک داستان بوده... ولی قسمتی از پایانِ داستان رو واستون مینویسم.. ببینید با خواندن اون چه چیزهایی در ذهن شما تداعی میشه
روزنامهها حالا تقریباً هیچ خبر و گزارشی در مورد فیل دیگر نشر نمیکنند
مردم ظاهراً فراموش کرده اند که شهرشان زمانی صاحب یک فیل بود. علفهای هرز که محوطه فیلخانه را از چشم پنهان کرده بود، حالا پژمرده شده و حسی از زمستان به آنجا راه یافته است
فیل و فیلبان غیب شدهاند و دیگر هرگز باز نخواهند گشت
با ذهن و اندیشه خودتون از این پایان چه برداشتی دارید؟؟ درود بر ذهنِ خلاق شما ایرانیانِ خرَدگرا

مجموعه یکدستی نیست به نظرم و اشتباهات تایپی و ویرایشی زیادی داره اما دو، سه تا داستان خیلی خوب داره. به خوندنش میارزه در نهایت.

«قضیه غیب شدن فیل»
داستان کوتاهی است از هاروکی موراکومی.
یک فیل و نگهبانش به طور ناگهانی ناپدید می شوند به طوری که هیچ اثری از فرار آنها بدست نمی آید.
موراکومی حرف خود را در لایه های زیرین داستان و با کنایه می زند.
ناپدید شدن فیل ماجرای کوچکی نیست که هر روز اتفاق بیافتد اما چه می شود که کم کم تمام اهل شهر آن را فراموش می کنند و صفحات روزنامه ها از نقل اخبار مربوط به آن خالی می شود.
اما هیچ کس احتمال «غیب شدن فیل» را مطرح نمی کند بجز یک نفر، که همین داستان به همراه یک قضیه ی دیگر نظم فکری تحلیلی او را از بین برده و همواره یک خلایی را در درون خود احساس می کند...

فقط داستان موراکامی رو خوندم هرچند موراکامی داستانهای بهتری هم داره اما این داستان بد نبود.
