Volney has created a nice, quick, light read with a lot of heart. It was well written & presented to readers who can escape into a world of love & trying again. I loved finding out the true meaning of the title. It added extra depth to the story.
The leading lady in this novella caught my attention. She hides behind a crazy schedule as a way to avoid relationships in life. Her reactions to things were priceless. There was more than once that I felt the male lead was hiding something, to the extent that when I found out what he was hiding I had to giggle & say ‘that’s it?’ But he was definitely a good fit for this story. His introverted nature suited the life he followed quite well. I really liked how the characters actually talk to each other, like honest to goodness conversations. It made me feel as if they really took the time to get to know one another. The characters were genuine and well developed, but they didn’t hold my attention throughout.
This is a sweet story of love & trying again. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon.

Candlelight is romantic and that’s exactly what Candlelight Conspiracy is all about. Toss in delectable food and a little music and this is one book you'll want to read.
The characters in the story are engaging. Although you see a glimpse or two of their working life, the intimate setting of their home lives brings out the connection between Marc and Sophie.
I enjoyed how quickly the darkness in their pasts was resolved. The behavior each character displayed throughout the story was consistent and fit each of them beautifully. They both came off as people who knew exactly what they wanted. A bump in the road wasn’t about to change anything.
As usual, Volney’s quick dialogue has you hooked to the page and pulls you into the story.
Candlelight Conspiracy is the perfect blend of sexy and touching. If you’re looking for a little spark to your afternoon, it’s the perfect book for you!

I loved this story! What a fabulous and unique premise! I can't give it away, but Dana created THE perfect backdrop for a novella-length romance. I absolutely loved Sophie and Marc and literally devoured this in one sitting. It's a sweet and sexy romance that will leave you rooting for the hero and heroine. Highly recommend!

Sophie is a florist during the day and a lead guitarist at night. Sophie uses her jobs to avoid relationships. Marc is her neighbor who is a standoffish type of neighbor who is a restaurant owner. Sophie’s building loses it’s power and she has no candles and she is hungry. So Marc invites her to eat and during a candlelight testing of the menu. Marc and Sophie bond. Before they realize what hit them Marc and Sophie they care a lot for each other maybe even call it love. After all it is the holidays.
This is a quick and light read and I loved it. I loved the easy way between Marc and Sophie once they were in the candlelight when he had seemed so standoffish. The characters were great and i loved how Sophie tried to use her two jobs to avoid relationships and Marc was bust and yet…. Even though this was a quick read the story didn’t lack anything as far as I am concerned and I enjoyed reading this. I loved the plot and it was great and I loved the ins and outs and i highly recommend.
