Vikings, Valkyries, Paranormal Romance mixed with Norse Mythology?

Yes, please.

A kickass female hero who doesn't put up with alpha male bullshit and can take down more enemies than the hero?

Yeah, girl!!

If you like PNR, this is a refreshing change of pace from the vamps and weres.
There is a gang of Vikings living on Earth and fighting Loki's minions. The king of the Vikings, Leif, is drugged and almost killed by some baddies, but our girl, Naya, saves his ass by killing them all and calling his

I don't think I should even try to review/rate this, because really...VIKINGS.

nuff said.

No? Not enough? Alright then.

Immortal vikings on Earth, defending us from Loki's minions and his evil plans + warrior spirits + mad scientist creations + enhanced cyberexpert female soldier + loose Nordic mythology + soulmates + reticence= this mess of a book. It could have been kinda awesome. I had fun, my friends, I had fun. I'm not even sure why. I just couldn't take this

What is it about Vikings that makes them so seemingly perfect for romance ? From the Kirk Douglass / Tony Curtis movies that my mum loved so much to the rather tasty Thor in the modern Marvel franchise there's just something that seems so heroic. Add in their amazing Gods, myths and legends and I can easily see why so many are captivated by the Vikings. Yes partying in Asgard sure does seem like a great thing to do!
I was intrigued by this book with it's band of warriors led by their King Leif

Stories with mythology always peak my interest. Perhaps, it began with my obsession with Isis on Saturday morning television. As an adult, I’ve enjoyed Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and Kane Chronicles series and Elisabeth Naughton’s Eternal Guardians. Recently, I developed an obsession with the Vikings series on the History Channel. All of this is to explain why I grabbed up and had high expectations for Viking Warrior Rising.

I’m just bored and could really care less about any of the characters. Just not feeling romance lately? *gasp*

^Words I never thought I’d say, but that’s just the way my reading feels are of late.

4 complex and fascinating stars for Viking Warrior Rising. The read was a nice change from most of the contemporary stuff I've been reading. I do love fantasy and Mythology! I wasn't wowed and thrown for a loop but I liked the story just fine. Leif was by far my favorite character just because he was great. I found I liked Naya but didn't love her.

The story swirls about between what is supposed to be myth and contemporary life. Naya didn't have a normal upbringing by any standards and so finds

I literally finished this in less than 5 hours, I forgot what it's like to be constantly reeled in by the storyline. A quick and enjoyable read with Norse mythology and romance. I highly enjoyed myself while reading this novel.

Well let's see...immortal Viking warriors, enhanced humans, soul mates, lab experiments, and a deadline...
No brainer here! I grabbed it!
The exciting world of Norse mythology and Vikings come to life was heady stuff. For an opening story to a series this one did a fantastic job of setting up the series plot and offering up the first romance and volley in the battle between Loki's minions and Odin and Freya's warriors.

The story begins when Naya Brisbane who has been hiding out in the world

I was hooked from the words,”Immortal Vikings are among us.” Mythology and government experiments are the backdrop for a new series that will pit the wills and hearts of immortal warriors against “mere” humans in contemporary times. Leif is the warrior King, his men have been with him for thousands of years, fighting alongside him, protecting him, yet one tiny woman not only saves his life, but teaches him to feel and trust his heart after centuries of burying it deep within the hardened shell ...more

This is like a modern day plus sci-fi take on the Loki vs the Gods of Asgard mythology. Leif Skarsganger and his fellow vikings are on earth to protect it from Loki's minions. When he is saved by Naya, his beserker takes control and initiates an ancient Norse bond between the two. They're constantly drawn to each other and have an uncontrollable need to be around each other. Naya is on the run from some sort of government agency that experimented on her and her brother too.

This was meh. I
Immortal Vikings, an uber strong mystery woman, Loki causing havoc and an eye catching cover (Yeah, seems I’m liking covers a lot lately, but this one definitely works and is a great representation of Leif *grins*)? I’m definitely down with that and found that I really enjoyed the ride! Viking Warrior Rising is a great blend of fantasy, action and sexual heat with a good dose of mystery and characters that you want to know more about.

Leif, I really liked. He’s got that whole alpha vibe

Picking up this book was kind of like fate. A few months ago I was on the hunt for a viking book; which if you've been reading paranormal, fantasy, historical romance for a while now, you know how rare it is to find a book featuring vikings - especially modern day vikings. I logged on to NetGalley to browse and BAM!, Viking Warrior Rising was on the homepage of titles for review. The cover captured my attention right away and the story was exactly what I was looking for!

Naya is constantly on the run, hiding from the people who have kept her captive and experimented on since she was twelve years old. After rescuing her brother and hiding him away in a medical facility it is up to Naya to figure out a way to save them both. Naya has no idea of what she is, what has been done to her brother or herself; but she is determined to keep their hard won freedom. Discovering Leif in a back alley being beaten does not fit in with her policy of keeping to herself and ...more
I picked up this book a while ago and was very attracted to all its themes. The world building is decent but I am not a fan of the discovered paranormal world event. It takes away from the romance.

The heroine is awesome and the hero is a good guy but the fated mate theme (which is one I like) end up hurting the falling in love of the book.

I worry that the larger arc of the series will weaken all of the romances to come.

So, I will try another book in this series but this one was pretty

Holy damn these men are possessive of their women, "a stab of jealousy pierced Leif’s chest. His berserker growled , impatient with the other male stealing Naya’s attention." When handling his woman patience is a must, "he held his breath, counting to ten. “Look”— he smiled at her and leaned forward—“ I want you. You want me. Why not make it easier on both of us and share a bed?” I really liked this book and it's characters it's going to be one hell of a series.
3.5 stars

I chose this audio book from the library based on its title alone. I was expecting (or perhaps simply hoping) for a Viking book. It is not a historical romance. This is a contemporary paranormal story.

Enjoyable. It was not exciting enough that I did not want to stop reading, but it was entertaining enough to finish.

One thing I found odd is every time the hero and heroine orgasm together, their minds take a trip to speak with the gods. It's just weird that the only way they can connect

For her first book, Asa Maria Bradley presents us with the beginning of a future paranormal series quite promising even if some points are classical.

Leif is the king of one of the groups of Viking warriors sent on Earth by Odin in order to protect the world against Loki’s conspiracy. When he finds himself in a shaky position in front of strange creatures, he receives some help from a young woman with

As an immortal warrior tasked with protecting humanity, Leif Skarsganger is shocked when he kisses a dark-haired beauty who fights like a warrior and inadvertently triggers an ancient Norse bond in this spectacular paranormal romance.

Naya has her own secrets and has no intention of sticking around no matter how sexy the warrior is and the reader can’t help but get caught up in all the excitement as Leif struggles to convince Naya that they are meant to be before they run out of time.
I went into Viking Warrior Rising fully expecting to love it. I mean, a viking warrior king and a badass heroine... What's not to love?! Unfortunately, this one didn't exactly live up to my expectations.

The beginning totally sucked me in. Naya jumping in to help Leif when he's getting his viking butt kicked by some wolverines... Definitely bad ass! Leif kissing Naya and triggering their mate bond... One of my favorite story lines. But alas, things started to go down hill pretty quickly from

Sexy Immortal Vikings, an evil god, and a woman who is a true fighter? GIMME BOOK! That is how I felt as I read the blurb and seen this striking cover for Asa Maria Bradley's Viking Warrior Rising. I was instantly intrigued and I knew I was going to like it. I not only liked it, but actually want MORE in this new series! I haven't read something so spell-binding and sexy since Rebecca Zanetti's new Realm Enforcers book, Wicked Ride! I absolutely LOVED

VIKING WARRIOR RISING is a brilliantly crafted story that has this reader desperate for more!

I loved, loved, LOVED this book! The characters are incredibly dynamic and there is so much heart and spirituality in the writing that it’s easy to connect with. I loved how Norse mythology was the cornerstone of the story and how beautifully it was intertwined throughout.

I literally wanted to get lost in the pages of this magical world full of excitement and danger, honor and tradition, loyalty and

Alright, I'll admit it right now: the reason I wanted to read this book was because two of my favorite authors had good things to say about it. Still, we all know my tastes are sometimes weird and not always in sync with people I admire - which is perfectly fine by me, everyone is different.

So I was NOT ready to like the story that much! I wasn't ready to spam all my friends - and even a book group's fans - about the amazing plot and how much fun Leif's gang was. Or to start fangirling about the

VIKING WARRIOR RISING by Asa Maria Bradley is actually a revelation for me. While I enjoy Viking romances, I have never read contemporary of the genre. I was pleasantly surprised and am eager to read what comes next in the Viking Warriors series.

Leif Skarsganger is the leader of Viking Warriors that protect the world from the evil Norse god Loki. Restless and stressed Leif visits an area he definitely should not be in alone and gets attacked by Loki's minions. Out numbered and alone Leif doesn't know if he will make it out alive walks Naya Brisbane

Naya Brisbane is a very busy woman. She is on the run from men who want to experiment on her, she is trying to keep her brother safe so that those same men wont experiment on her
I'm a big fan of Norse mythology and an even bigger fan of Berserkers and Valkyries. Considering the Viking Warrior series features all of the above, Viking Warrior Rising was right up my alley. Sinceriously.

I'm glad I took a chance on an author I'd never heard of, based solely off of a Kindle sale alert from someone in my Twitter feed. With narration, Viking Warrior Rising was less than $5 and worth every frakkin penny.

The world building was unique, there was great chemistry between Leif and

What a freaking kick ass story! I LOVED this book! It had everything you could want in a story: romance, action, hot sex, an ultimate strong heroine, an alpha male, and interesting side characters. I could not put this book down! I was intrigued right at the beginning. The plot was original and was not predictable at all, I was hanging on all the way. Naya was one of the best heroines I have read. She was strong and stayed the course no matter how great the sex was. Lief was a great leader and ...more

The beginning was great, but it quickly fell apart after that.

The modern day viking warrior was by far the best part of the book, and even that was feeling flimsy by the end of the book. The warriors hadn't integrated well into the modern world. The individual characters were well developed, but their purpose in being here wasn't that interesting or convincing.

Leif and Naya were not at all interesting. They were only together because the gods deemed them soul mates. They didn't particularly

“She swung her legs around his waist and crossed her ankles behind his back. “I like the way your mind works,” she panted before losing herself in the sensation of his hardness rubbing against her core. Lief took the few steps across the room to the bed in record time and flung her down on the covers. He leaned back to tear his clothes off. “My mind hardly works at all when you are near.” She chuckled leaning back on her elbows, enjoying the view of naked flesh being revealed. She rose up on her knees and traced the ridges on his chest and abdomen. As her fingers trailed down toward his proud shaft, he captured her wrists.

“Be careful.” He smiled down at her. “I’m loaded and might go off any minute.”

She laughed. “You’ve been watching too many old Western movies with Harold.”
